>So I figured it out-why FAMAS's have 3 round bursts but 25 round magazines
>>
Surely its not because OP is a fag
>>

8 bursts and a shot to kys with?

which episode of animal planet explains this OP?
>>

Obviously, it's to let you know you need to reload if you only fire one round, due to the lack a of last round bolt hold open.

Is that what you were thinking OP?
>>
Because when you fire the last round you instantly know your empty?

When you click the trigger and nothing happens that's when you know you're empty
>>
>>65391770
25 round magazine + 3 round burst =

1st trigger pull - 3 rounds(22 rounds left)
2nd trigger pull - 3 rounds(19 round left)
3rd trigger pull - 3 rounds(16 rounds left)
4th trigger pull - 3 rounds(13 rounds left)
5th trigger pull - 3 rounds(10 rounds left)
6th trigger pull - 3 rounds(7 rounds left)
7th trigger pull - 3 rounds(4 rounds left)
8th trigger pull - 3 rounds(1 round left)
9th trigger pull -1 round(zero rounds in mag, time to reload)
Firing until you hear a click is not only unnecessary, but also stupid because this was setup intentionally to tell legionaries when to reload without ever dryfiring their rifles at a critical moment.

Exactly correct
>>
>>65391788
I think the real reason was 25 was how long they could make the magazine
>>
>>65391788
So why not 28?
>>
>>65391476
They made the entirely separate design choices of having a three round burst and having a 25 round magazine with no regard for how they mesh together because it really doesn't matter.

Anything else is shit people made up to justify not changing it later.
>>
>>65391833
Too much. Would go against regulation at the time
>>
>>65391788
>this was setup intentionally
Bullshit. They made the mags 25 rounds because that is how long you can make them without needing a curve. The government requested the 3-round burst function after every other part of the gun had been made.

It's just my theory as to why, it could also be that 25 is a factor of 100, which makes logistics people happier when their looking at spreadsheets than 30?

In reality, the only person who may know the answer to this question would be a small group of old French people.
>>
>>65391788
Wow they get 9 bursts in such a smaller profile, in a 30 round magazine you get merely one more burst for a total of 10th
>>
>>65391763
I love that movie
>>
Why are we assuming this was deliberate? The 25 round mag for the FAMAS very well could just be a "make lemonade" situation.
>>
The French copy no one, and no one copies the French
>>
I think FAMAS looks cool.
>>
>>65391476
Why didnt they do a 31 round magazine to have the same effect but more capacity?
>>
>>65391476
Cause of the metric system.

My favorite was the mall scene.

a whole thread of people who don't understand that you can only stack so many funny shaped cartridges in a straight magazine in a board supposedly dedicated to firearms enthusiasts. sasuga dana /k/-kun

Because then the magazine would be too long and curved which would interfere with the operator going prone. It’s the same reason why the FAL was designed with a 20 round magazine and that extreme pistol grip angle. Both rifles were intended to be used with their integrated bipods from the prone position or an entrenchment.
>>
>>65393668
Bigger bipods

Pathetic.

>you cant fire with bipod from open field
>>
>>65391841
20 rounds would work for that as well.
