I just started going since I found out theres a trap place really close to me. I'm still bad but getting better and it's a lot of fun. The place near me has lights and stays open in the evenings so I've been able to go after work, which has been awesome for getting in reps. I only shoot trap but am interested in doing sporting clays, but the closest place that has that is hours away so I want to get better at trap so I dont waste my time traveling and sucking ass.

>>65393380Matching the speed of the target for crossers / quartering birds is the main thing that helped me. as fast as that bird is flying your gun is going just as fast, aswell with pulling the trigger and not altering the speed of the gun

i just use this when i go shooting up in the hills with my old man. i typically shoot some turkshit 20ga and my nice cz 12ga sxs. somedays i dont miss any, other days cant hit more than 50%.

Shooting clays is instinctive shooting, you know how fast the gun is moving because you literally feel it. I've got to ask too, what's your cheek weld like? I've been shooting clays since 2012 and started posting on /k/ around the same time.I've posted may threads over the years regarding clay shooting but never got a lot of traction. I'll post in Shotgun Generals sometimes.My newest addition to the stable is a Browning BT-99 Plus which I'm really loving as a dedicated trap gun. Anyone else notice a bit of a shell shortage lately? It feels harder to find the load I like than it was earlier this year.Speaking of, what’s your preferred load for each discipline? I like #7.5 1‑1/8 oz 1200 fps for trap and #8 1 oz 1250 fps for pretty much everything else.

I've only shot open choke lead 7 1/2 shot, how much harder would steel shot make it? Do you just have to suck less?

>>65393560You can still get Baikal single shots if you scour used racks and local guys selling used guns. They're neat. I've found a couple and found that they often have selectable eject/extract which is a really oddly rare feature to my knowledge. Not going to be a TOZ O/U but one step closer.
