Question anons, Portugal used to make it's own G3 rifles under license, the factory was closed in the 90s but the machinery was sold to an american company and even trained by former engineers.Anyone know if that american company still makes G3?
Yes. The equipment was purchased by JLD enterprises which eventually became PTR. So the PTR 91 is fabricated from that tooling although I'm sure their shop has changed over time.The shop was HK licensed and based on original blueprints.I've heard modern-day PTR might not be as good as the JLD enterprises era.

>>65398935i have a ptr91. purchased around 2015. swapped out some furniture but other than that it's still the same parts/same gun, nothing broken. never looked at it for precision shooting but it is reliable and certainly minute of pie plate. don't know what the prices are like now but there used to be some good sales on mags.
>>65399141I agree that DSA has gotten better, PTR has probably also gotten better too although they did go downwards a little bit for a moment. Reason being that they don't produce 100% of every product on the rifle and the surplus of OEM spec parts started drying up to some degree. Thus, components made from other manufacturers at certain points in the company's history did not prove to be as robust.
Can confirm the PTR is good to go, I love shooting mine.
