Worst was a S-61 (essentially a Sea King with an enlarged fuselage) that got a double engine flameout, three were killed from that. I miss seeing that S-61, since it would fly over the house at less than 500'.Not to go on too much of a tangent, but the company that owned the S-61 also had a Bell 412 and the S-61 got replaced by a S-76 and they just acquired a MD-520N. My concern is that the guy flying the MD-520N has no concept of NOTAR lag and he really cannot do HIGE, so he drifts everywhere on the apron. Maybe I worry too much, but hovering a NOTAR helicopter is an art, since it requires better anticipation skills than you need even with a conventional or coaxial helicopter, if that makes sense.

This resulted in them being very weak and easily countered by almost anything else on the ground. Other militarizes decided that it's a better trade off to have a slower rate of deployment, but having high quality vehicles. Just look at the VDV losses in the Ukraine war for this doctrine playing out. Adding vehicles (radar targets in flight, not concealable on the ground) under round canopies (not steerable) makes that pointless.The US has the capacity to drop very light vehicles under a steered canopy (JPADS) but nobody does it because high altitude airdrop of vehicles is pointless (see above) and JPADS is expensive.
