I heard many times that Battle of Yonkets from World War Z was written pretty badly and i would agree, even knowing it was fiction and i should overlook it but i couldn't because us military acted too retarded in that battle. How would you change it so biggest us military fail in war against zombies looked more believable. or would you scrap it and replace it with different scenario?
>>
>>65414364
Also everything he ever wrote was written badly so...
>>
Have a necromancer controlling them, resurrecting them, and hexing the military.
I can't think of any other plausible defeat of a modern military, much less the US military, to fucking zombies
>>
>>65414377
They rot apart in days. Max is a retard.
>>
A single CROWS turret can kill an effectively unlimited number of zombies
>>
>>65414382
They wouldn't even attack people, they eat connective tissue for a nutrient that hlps the body use water. Zombies are thirsty, and animals have more sinew and shit than people (collagen compounds like that).
>>
I would replace the zombies with indians and rename it to Camp of the Saints.
>>
OP is just a retard you can't go anywhere with this.
>>
I haven't read it since ~2010, but my recollection is that 5.56 was ineffective in spite of .22 being held up as the ideal zombie killer, and that artillery was utterly useless because zombies don't care about blast and are only harmed by fragmentation. But if we fix those issues, then the battle simply doesn't happen, so I would reframe it less as an attempted curbstomp and more that the threat was not taken seriously. Like imagine Yonkers was a major refugee point, and the military was more worried about mass rioting, so there was a large overt military presence but nobody had any mags in their rifles. I could see a horde overrunning them in that kind of situation.
>>
>>65414395
wasn't replacing 5.56 with .22 was less about 5.56 being ineffective and more about being an overkill and in situations where you need to score hundreds of headshots in stressful conditions for perhaps hours at times you needed as little recoil as possible.
>>
The scenarios in the book are stupid because the author lacked an imagination and even the most basic understanding of modern military equipment
>>
>>65414440
It's fundamentally retarded, you can't worry about specific tardations.
>>
>>65414440
Entirely possible, its been a very long time.
>>
>>65414364
Who cares? Whining about WWZ is the kind of faggy shit of proto-Reddits like SDN and SB. It's complaining about a pretty standard genre conceit; like whining about swords in space opera or mechs being better than tanks in mecha shows.

It's not even funny like the 4th Generation Warfare guy's extended /pol/ shitpost novel with the T-34s from the Tsar and "sheeeeit, nigga, I'm not crossing that stream".
>>
>>65414364
The entire book is fucking dogshit, I can't believe they made us read it on holdover at AIT. I think the only believable part was how the Russians mobik charged the zombies with mosins and T-34s
>>
>>65414364
DESU, the idea of logistics not being able to support heavy weapons resulting in the infantry acing to bear the brunt of the battle, eventually leading to a rout due to a major breakdown in communication is…fine? It’s just too compressed of a timeline.

If I was writing it, the scenario would be along the lines of “we have enough food and ammunition for fourteen days of continuous fire. It is now day twenty nine. And this scene is repeating all over the country. Atlanta. Las Vegas. Los Angeles. San Diego. Seattle. Washington DC. They keep diverting all our resupplies elsewhere. I haven’t slept in seventy hours”

Necromancer zombies become skeletons when they rot and take up swords and shields. Then you have to duel them, it's a matter of honor at that point.
>>
>>65414364
Yeah, but if you wanted to make Max Brooks Zombie books make sense you'd need to rewrite them completely. They're just the book equivalent of dumb Hollywood action movies. Don't expect more from them than that.

>>
>>65414925
it's pretty fucking retarded but at least the movie gave us the scene of a clueless dude being given a gun and slipping on a ramp, accidentally blowing his shit smoove off

I don't even remember that in the book lmao
>>
>>65414957
Don’t forget how during the big artillery bombardment, exploding cars killed more zombies than the artillery did.
>>
>what is genre blindness
>>
>>65414925
Max Brooks logic:
>5.56 is dumb because you'll get tired from the recoil
>Swinging a heavy metal crowbar into a skull, stopping it at just the right point so it doesn't get stuck and you have nothing to deal with the rest of the shambling horde, then rinse and repeat for hours on end is perfectly fine though and won't tire you out at all
>>
>>65414957
IIRC the M16 gets replaced with an M14-like weapon because the army wanted a bigger round with an incendiary core that would effectively roast everything inside a zombie's skull to reduce the risk of spreading infected tissue through the exit wound.
Like other Anons said, the Battle of Yonkers is okay for reasons mentioned (soldiers trained to fire at center of mass, arty being ineffective, etc.) and to Brooks credit the interviewee in the book does say they kill tens of thousands of zombies but that there were millions more pouring in, essentially all the zombified population of NYC.
And really, all zombie media needs to be absorbed with the idea that zombies as a concept dont exist in them because of course *we* all know to "shoot em in the head"..
Long story short, the most credible zombie threat in fiction is the one from "Return of the Living Dead"

I think the book was good, Yonkers is a bad chapter (Same for the weeaboo samurai) but the F22 pilot chapter makes up for it.
>>
>>65414395
>>65414440
if i recall, the military still used 5.56 but he went the fudd route of saying M16s were jam-o-matics so they switched to some non-descript wood and steel rifle still chambered in 5.56 but more "reliable" now
>>
>>65415130
Favorite arc is the astronauts stuck in space, which is coincidentally the least zombie involved part of the whole book.
>>
>>65414925
Ok look.
This zombie type anyway is a blood borne pathogen, and it covers zero science of such a thing nor does it avoid (almost seeks) to cover you in zombie blood.
So you tell us.
>>
>>65415069
Pretty much everyone is saying the Battle of Yonkers is trash for the reasons mentioned.

Also instead of pretending zombies as a concept don't exist, zombie media should invert it and make everyone's preconceived notions of pop culture zombies be a giant chunk of the problem.

>You gotta destroy the brain to stop them!
Yeah, but they can be disabled by broken bones and torn muscles.
>They'll sprint after you!
Yeah, as fast they could manage while alive, which for most people isn't much.
>You can't use guns or thousands of them are gonna swarm!
Sound dissipates and can be blocked or muffled by surprisingly small amounts of barriers, it's hard to pinpoint the source of sounds beyond a general direction unless the terrain is open and clear, and their ability to swarm would depend entirely on the amount of zombies within hearing distance of the gunshot that can accurate figure out where it's coming from. Also if they're that responsive to sound they'd be easily distracted and rainstorms would more or less short circuit them.
>If one of them scratches you it's all over.
No, the zombie virus is still a virus and your immune system is still your immune system. You can fight the infection and you'll only turn if you have an active infection.

And that's how you get people in boarded up houses killing each other over superficial wounds sustained while trying to melee totally-not-magical corpses spreading infection through bodily fluids.
>>
>>65415137
its been a while since ive read the books, but the SIR rifle they replaced the M-16s with sounded heavily inspired by the SKS
>solid wood and steel design
>flip out bayonet
>reliable and tough
>character mentions them looking more like WWII rifles than modern ones

Also the lobo shovel that no one is able to made good fan art of is really just an e-tool like russia or cold steel has. works as a shovel, ax, or melee weapon in a pinch
>>
>>65415142
That is also a good one, it's how I found the song I was only 19. Great song that always delivers tears.
>>
>>65414364
it was retarded yes i think it was only written by max brooks as an extreme example of how regular modern armies were not equipped/trained to fight his brand of zombies. this is bacause
>'well the army will just bomb them easily' is the #1 criticism of zombie fiction
>he wanted something to contrast the later fight where the soldiers were geared and trained from the ground-up in counter-zombie warfare
>>
Max had no military knowledge. I posted the initial scenario to a group of officers at Ft Irwin (Now NTC Irwin) before his book was commonly known and they cackled. A significant number of troops would of been in APCs and and in positions that probably would not been over run by humanoids. Once the initial over run happened it would of been Bradley time. There would of been a lot of casualties but from the description zombies are stupid. And the number of Army guys that play D&D was ridiculous in the 90s. They told me the M231 Firing Port Weapon (FPW) probably would be the real winner of such a engagement. They had concerns troops would not realize how infectious the disease was but they would probably recover and start looking for zombies with IFVs. The other item was the armor guys when told the initial conditions stated they would of loaded the MBTs with Beehive rounds and WP. Artillery would fire Killer Junior and Killer Senior. The fact it was a rush with unarmored masses of individuals was known would make that possible. The tanks would drive through larger mobs flattening them. Communications channels would probably be filled with D&D references. Civilians really do not realize how devastating some of the anti personnel options the US military has.
>>
>>65414395
Agreed. It'd be a better military failure as a broken arrow situation where you had a mass outbreak amongst civilians and peacekeeper forces that resulted in something like the use of white phosphorus up to tactical nuclear weapons and that still not stopping the disease while assuring even more deaths. Failures in organization and planning lead to people turning in an area only "defended" by guys with riot equipment and anti vehicle ballards which rapidly devolves into responding Bradley companies dumping 25mm chaingun and 7.62 into anything that coming down the highway alive or dead.
>>
>>65415069

Ironically the whole thing was still chambered in 5.56mm. They just gave it the special incendiary "PIE" ammo lmao.
>>
>>65415069
>Long story short, the most credible zombie threat in fiction is the one from "Return of the Living Dead"
Nah 28 days later. Just a virus. Makes you retarded and violent. Center mass kills. Need food and water.

Ironically, they are also the most dangerous of the zombie types.
>>
Was the author just making shit up when he said that the bomb that ripped the lungs out of the zombies mouths and just hung there is real and does that to people?
>>
>>65414940
Also, pre-emptively crippling your knees so that when you die and get raised as another skeleton you are less mobile
>>
>>65414377
>I can't think of any other plausible defeat of a modern military, much less the US military, to fucking zombies
Hot take: a Night of the Living Dead/Walking Dead style zombie uprising with all the corpses abruptly getting up and attacking us would almost certainly collapse collapse global civilization to the extent scene in TWD because how the hell do you do logistics when the "enemy" is already literally everywhere and has appeared without warning or precedent.
Max Brooks was a retard for trying to make it plausible by having the zombies beat the army in a pitched battle.
>>
>>65415799
He tried to simulate simultaneous outbreaks via the spread being by donor organs. So you had outbreaks happen in every major city at about the same time.

Also, it is plausible for the US mil to lose. Consider an outbreak in like Houston or LA - huge sprawling cities. It wouldn't be one set-piece like Yonkers but steady attrition as the army gets dispersed to maintain order and you lose three guys here, half a squad there so on and so forth and then supply lines start falling apart and you lose mobility and cohesion and over a week a BCT just gets swallowed up.
>>
>>65415752

>Somehow this doesn't increase the infection rate
the survivalists who knew how to kill zombies and keep themselves uninfected went West
Max Brooks has always been big on preparedness; remember that WWZ is a sequel to Zombie Survival Guide
he also mentioned bastions kept in the East as basically sacrificial bait, this included much of the US Special Forces; they bought the West coast time to reorganise by holding out as long as they could even though in the long run they were essentially doomed

>The military is ineffective

Let's put it this way: the zombies are both durable enough that they can survive walking on the ocean bottom and near-misses from tank shells but also frail enough that your average suburban mom can, with little help from adrenaline, tear one apart. It has some good sections, especially early on when the zombies are a problem gnawing at the edges of society, but as a whole it is pretty retarded.

A big monster surviving bombs makes sense because due to it's massive size, it would logically have to be made out of absurdly durable materials. Yeah good luck bombing a 80 thousand ton solid lump of steel-like material.
Except WWZ zombies are, quite literally, reanimated human bodies with no greater strength or durability to a regular person.
Yet somehow they survive howitzer blasts without issues.

I'd give the T-Virus a pass. It can infect damn near anything, which can in turn pass it on. Imagine an infected bird making it into a city water supply, or getting eaten by an animal somewhere and starting the whole cycle over again. They don't touch on mosquitos, but that's a real possibility, which is incredibly bad.

Then the loss won't seem as confusing, because everyone know Americans have rednecks and welding torches.

They aren't necessarily, like if zombie receaves a spinal injury that leaves them unable to move their legs they'll just crawl.

In that case they would die however the impact of the blast pressure was lessend by congealed blood (to a lesser extent) and also do to the fact that the horde was massive (numbering in the millions).

>lessend by congealed blood
See, this right here's the problem. It's so very midwit. It's trying to have both realistic explanations living alongside silly stuff like a human body that doesn't breathe or circulate blood but it still walks around. A zombie is a perpetual motion engine.
If you've got rabies or bioweapon zombies that are still alive but act monstrous, that's fairly reasonable. And you can have magic zombies that are reanimated dead. But you can't have both if you're trying to sell it as serious.
He explains realism with fantasy answers and fantasy with realism answers and it doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

You absoluetly can have both, hell that's what makes the concept interesting and scary. All you have to do is engage with the idea that you (and humanity as a whole) don't have a perfect understanding of the world and that something would normaly be considered impossible is in fact possible.

You can, because all SF and fantasy (whichever genre WWZ is in) must necessarily involve a certain degree of handwavium

And for what it’s worth, WWZ was the most serious/"realistic" zombie media at the time of its publishing, relative to all other zombie media

More importantly the zombies are a rage virus variant so apparently they still eat and drink water. The mutant variants are smart enough to keep going through the town looking for survivors while the common types go from watering hole to watering hole. I image 3 weeks tops before the common either mutate to something else or drop dead from exhaustion.
>>
>>65422284
I think if they're too weak many people would rape the zombies and get infected. On the other hand if they're strong (more infectious) it would take a greater level of discipline to survive which the avrage person does not posses.
>>
It frustrates me that I have a near-obsession with zombie media yet the vast, vast majority of it is kinda garbage. I'm down to raiding proverbial dumpsters by reading self-published (pre-slop) novels from amazon to get my hit.
Main problems are zombie series that start kinda okay but 2-3 books in quality starts rapidly deteriorating. The main character is always a practically omnicompetent camera with no personality too.

Early shock, breakdown of society, problem solving. It's why I start to fall off from long form stories when they solve their immediate problems and it becomes too much of a "crazy warlord of the week" drama and zombies take a back seat.

No one has mentioned the trenches at the Battle of Yonkers

In the book muh cold war generals order everyone into trenches that allow the zombies to catch soldiers. Obviously we need to suspend some realism for fiction but that one really bothered me. Trench warfare wasn't even the desired meta in WW1 let alone post Gulf War US. 1968 Night of the Living Dead is a far more realist example of human grade zombies.

>>65423997
Considering there is already PrEP resistant HIV..............
>>
>>65424148
Trenches are a way to occupy soldiers time and increase their protection from attacks and observation no matter the "meta". Being in a hole is always better protection from usual threats than not being in a hole. Holes in the ground didn't go anywhere in Cold War planning, they still had engineers creating defensive positions and tank defilades. Yonkers was a defensive action after all.

>>
>>65424194

Weld a steel cage to the back of a pickup and give the guy back there a can of ammo and a cleaning kit and you can kill a functionally unlimited number of zombies

>>
>>65424194
>For something conventional sure. Zombies?
That's part of the "outdated tactics by retarded generals" part of Yonkers, I'm not saying it's not dumb. I'm just arguing against the point that trench digging disappeared or was disfavored at some point after WW1. It's just a defensive alignment.
>>
>>65424148
Yeah, that also bothers the shit out of me. Other than the fact that “muh generals trying to fight the last war” is a cop out argument in general, in this specific case it’s extra retarded, since I’m pretty sure Cold War planners had a bit more in mind than “we build one defensive line with no fallback positions, only have enough artillery ammunition for one barrage, the Air Force only has one strike that occurs too late to be useful, we invited the press out to watch, oh and we didn’t bother to do any recon whatsoever”

If anything, that would be more applicable to vets of GWOT than Cold War warriors.
>>
>>65414364
>How would you change it so biggest us military fail in war against zombies looked more believable. or would you scrap it and replace it with different scenario?

The battle itself is unrealistic but the situation as a whole makes sense once you realize most people, including the military, become functionally retarded during emergency situations. This country would absolutely fall apart from WWZ style zombies and anyone who says otherwise thinks people are way more competent than they really are.
>military overstretched and exhausted trying to provide nationwide disaster relief AND quarantine enforcement AND kill zombies
>first responders decimated by being at ground zero with little to no applicable training
>desertion in both of the above categories because people are going to put their immediate family first when shit starts really hitting the fan
>The government turning zombies into a political issue and getting deadlocked when immediate action is needed most
>doomsday preppers and religious nuts going crazy because the end is nigh
>supply chains absolutely fucked, food and fuel shortages are going to hit hard
>electricity and water won't be far behind when workers just stop showing up
>social media fearmongers and influencers muddying the waters and stirring people up
>every overconfident retard thinking they're gonna rambo the horde with a baseball bat and a .22 and getting eaten for it
>people hiding their infection, or falling for stupid folk remedies, or getting bit because they can't bring themselves to hurt zombie grandma, etc.
>normies lynching people pogrom style for suspected infections
The majority of this country lives in urban areas and has like $100 in savings, no water, no skills, and a week of food in the pantry. Their disaster plans consist of "it won't happen here" and "the government will take care of me". They will be dead before it even really starts.

The real issue is that you can't have a handwave while also writing extensively about how the handwave works in a way that is heavily grounded with reality. Brooks goes out of his way to sabotage suspension of disbelief by extensively detailing the virus and its effects on the human body to the point where the questions get so pointed they're unignorable. Sometimes the Heisenberg compensators work just fine and you need to leave it at that.

>>65424171
You can still make it work. How many military installations are near your house and how many troops are stationed there with a MOS that would help with fighting zombies? For most of America, and the world, the answer is "not many" to both. Which I think is an unexamined route to take zombie literature, it's not a zombie apocalypse but it might as well be for you.

Sadly that is a thing that would happen, especially in cities. Brings up the question: If they are fresh and don't rot besides incidental damage if they were restrained there would be any issue with fucking them if you used a condom? WWZ has ignored a obvious fetish that would happen IRL.

>>65424168
Chain mail, shark suits or safety outfits for people who use chainsaws would be good. MOPP suits would be useful as well.

I have a set of heavy flame proof firefighters coveralls, as long as i had something like a chain mail coif, a ATV helmet and a axe or my home depo bill hook i think if you put me sober on a football field with 100 of them on the other end i'd have a decent chance of winning.

Either that or i'd die of a heart attack and/or heat stroke. In that case i come back as the Zombified version of the Terminator who is always really pissed off because i can't open the faceplate of my ATV helmet to eat brains.

Eh, eventually i'd figure it out even as a zombie. Someone would eventually open up the helmet by shooting me in the face with birdshot so i can axe them, eat their sweet, sweet brains and go find my GF Trash from Return of the Living Dead. I'd even bring her a few spare heads as a girt.

https://www.the-sietch.com/index.php?threads/zombies-apocalypses-and-notpocalypses.15676/

WWZ zombies could only be a threat in America after a massive seizure of civilian weapons. Otherwise, 100 million people opening fire all over the country would prevent the hordes from ever growing big enough to matter.

You should check out Zephon. Civilization-like turn based strategy set in apost apocalyptic Earth after a war between alien invaders and an AI that no one knows who built it. Every dlc has added two new commanders(you pick a Commander at the start of the game and each one has a story you can choose to pursue)and the most recent one has one of the commanders be a pair of astronauts that were on an orbiting space station when the aliens invaded. One of the things this gives you as a gameplay bonus is you don't have fog of war, because you are looking down at the whole battlefield from space.

Describing a fantastical technology that may or may not be possible is different than a "virus" that magically reanimates the dead and turns them into killing machines that don't need to breath and are invulnerable to any attack that doesn't hit them in the head for some fucking reason.
>>
>>65428209
Don't forget they get all the benefits of being dead as they don't need to breathe and their coagulated blood makes them immune to shock, but don't worry about how they power their muscles.

The trick with writing far out scifi is leaving some things unspoken and working around it with the bits you do want to speak about. Just don't bring that bit up! Maybe the humans don't know how they function and we're not sure. But then you confirm that, yup, they don't breathe and their blood doesn't move. This is not a good thing. You're answering simple questions with things that beg more incredulous questions.

Everyone who eats at a prison mess hall, DFAC, and school cafeteria will be infected, and it'll spread like wildfire from there. Hell, given the regular (poor) quality of the food, nobody will notice until it's too late.

heh

eat it, so nobody gets infected

It's listening to a ten year old try to be talking like a big person. The book/movie is stupid gay ass shit. The scene of the Israelis saving the Muslims. The zombies attacking at close range. Use of only small arms weapons the whole time.
>>
>>65431425
headshotting zombies by metronome was also fucking stupid

infantry squares were a good idea tho
incendiary bullets also, but 5.56mm? lmao
if he'd made the standard anti-zombie rifle subsonic 0.50cal incendiary it would've made more sense
>>
>>65431435
There was zero military zombie death squad action it was all gay ass shit
>>
>>65431031
>go search for and post the scientific proof proving wormholes lead to other places, I'll wait
That's what I'm saying. It's a quick little lie to get where you need to be, not some bloated, over explained midwit garbage that makes it less credible.

Nothing he did would be wrong if he kept it quick and dropped the "erm acshually" tone. But he didn't, and now he's fair game to pick apart when a much smarter writer would just focus on something else.
>>
>>65431449
>not some bloated, over explained midwit garbage that makes it less credible.
Neither was his explanation of zombie biology.
>>
>>65431448
there was one (1) action sequence for the fight to take back America
everything else was written from the perspective of what newsies call "human interest stories"

Lmao dude did everyone just forget how retarded everyone was during covid? We had people stabbing eachother over toilet paper and doing daily grocery runs while the people doing said runs genuinely believed the virus would murder them. The tactics the military employed at yonkers may have been unrealistically dumb, but society breaking down because the average person is a gigantic emotional retard is 110% accurate.
>>
>>65431544
Maybe, but consider this:
I can’t shoot Covid.
I CAN shoot zombies.
>>
>>65415799
You do logistics the same way you do now. They're walking corpses, anon, by given retard can kill any number of them with ease. Even without guns, it's not hard to slam an axe or bat into the head of someone who's shambling at you and not actually trying to avoid the hit.
>>
>>65431905
>You do logistics the same way you do now.
You can't because there would be too much chaos.
>by given retard can kill any number of them with ease.
Like hell.
>Even without guns, it's not hard to slam an axe or bat into the head of someone who's shambling at you and not actually trying to avoid the hit.
With guns it would be difficult to aim for the head while with melee you risk getting infected with blood spatter alone.
>>
>>65423997
It's already a porno
>>
>>65432053
>Like hell
Let me guess, you're overweight, don't work out, and have never been in a fight?

>Difficult
Noguns detected. Hitting heads at moderate ranges is fucking easy when they're literally just walking at you.

Obviously, the magic zombie blood phases through the mask, because being intelligent is verboten in the zombie apocalypse.
>>
>>65432514
>Let me guess, you're overweight, don't work out, and have never been in a fight?
I mean that's what the average civilian would be like especially in America.
>Hitting heads at moderate ranges is fucking easy when they're literally just walking at you.
That would only be true if it's like one zombie and there's nothing else to distract you durring a mass panic. Even then it would depend on what weapons you have, if a human can survivie withouth parts of the brain then so can a zombie.
>Cover your face
>>65432529
Most people will not have the foresight to do this in the early days durring a panic.
>>
>>65432772
>if a human can survivie withouth parts of the brain then so can a zombie.
And here we go with the goalpost shifting
>>
>>65431398

Millions do this daily despite how bad it is, be it because they're prison inmates, enlisted stuck on post/broke as fuck, and/or students eating free lunch programs, and have no other choice. Just a tiny portion of these getting infected spreads like wildfire in the close confines of a barracks, prison, or school. Take that as you will.

$$$ amount is = to "flavor" in a lot of women's minds. Unfortunately. Little Caesar's Hot n Ready $5 Pizza, in the average, basic bitch's mind = dough made from dog shit, cheese from an emaciated goat, tomatoes sourced from ketchup and toppings bought from a dumpster.

The modern "basic bitch" is the worst kind of woman. Can't keep their own place clean. Doesn't know a single recipe, even those passed down through family lines. Can't cook anything beyond "microwave X for Y minutes/seconds"
Anything and everything is tied to dollars spent. No regard for a future. No regard for a life beyond their own pleasure. No sense of building for future generations, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, etc, etc.

You could find a food cart on a night out that serves the best, tastiest food imaginable. But once she sees that it "only cost" $5 for the both of you, resentment builds.
Basic bitches are incapable of enjoying life's simple pleasures. Their enjoyment is directly tied to the monetary value of WHATEVER.

Makes me thankful for my gf. I can spend a day fishing and come back with a mess of pan fish or walleye. We've got enough meat for months and months and all it costs is time + $40.
>$40 per fishing season
>each season yields dozens of pounds of fresh fish fillets
>~$35 for a deer license in my state
>single deer provides enough meet for 6 months to a year

Stop going after basic bitch, city slicker women with no sense of actual survival. They're never satisfied. They are the embodiment of at least 3-4 or more deadly sins.
>Pride
>Greed
>Lust
>Envy
>Gluttony
>Wrath
>Sloth
Hard in today's world, but find yourself a woman who doesn't embody half or more of the 7 Deadly Sins. You have to hold yourself to the same standard though. 1 or 2 is fine, it can be worked on. Reasoned with. But an absolute demon of a woman is 200% not worth the effort.
>>
I think NMRIH had zombies right. You have the initial infection which spreads through water or other means. These infected go mad and turn into runners en masse. Forming an initial "shock" wave which can quickly shatter organized resistance and cohesion. Then you have the lingering "shamblers" once the runners break down. Who operate as obstacles towards reconveneing but are not insurmountable on their own.

I like it regardless, the meme is more about you acting like a moody wife, the kind that makes a mountain out of a molehill.

World War Z has a theme - the theme is that American Liberal Democracy Reigns Supreme. Everything in the book happens in order to reinforce that theme - the zombie virus originates in China; despotic countries and isolationists holed up in fortified compounds are all overrun; even though Queen Elizabeth in England gets a sympathetic depiction with her leading the British resistance from Windsor Castle, once the zombie war is over the survivors immediately depose her and Britain becomes a republic.

The Battle of Yonkers is completely illogical and unrealistic and makes zero sense as an actual military engagement - the notion that masses of zombies can somehow soak up and dilute the effect of bombs is arrant nonsense. Again, though, the events are forcibly bent to be in service to the theme - Yonkers is meant to assert tha\t America is contaminated by top-down bureaucracy, how the civil-service establishment and going through the motions of unimaginative set practices, how it was complacent and insulated and didn't take the threat seriously. Only by humiliating and destroying the organisations weighing down the country could America become nimble and experimental and truly Democratic again and so defeat the zombies.

The underlying premise of this is ridiculous. Little ceasers has made leaps and bounds of improvement with their pizzas in the last several years. While only some of these improvements have been applied to the $5 hot and ready it is still a vastly superior product to the $5 H&R of the 2010s. Frankly sticking to the $5 H&R is just too big of an ask given the state of inflation and cost of ingredients, it's simply unfair to compare a $5 product in the current year to a $5 product from 15 or more years ago. A much more reasonable comparison given the relative buying power of the USD in current year vs the 2010s let alone 2000s would be the extra most bestest pepperoni. The EMBP is usually priced at $7.99 or $8.99 depending on locality and is an objectively superior pizza to the higher priced basic pepperoni pies of effectively all other national chains. Little ceasers has had a truly impressive glow up, beating out pappa johns, dominos, and Pizza Hut in both price and quality.

>once the zombie war is over the survivors immediately depose her and Britain becomes a republic.
you just made that shit up nigga. it's precisely of her actions monarchy in britain politically survived zombie war and GB remained a constitutional monarchy. Also how they could depose her when it's heavily implied in books that she died during war
>despotic countries and isolationists holed up in fortified compounds are all overrun
russia remains a dictatorship with God Emperor Putin as its leader...

The Last Of Us TV series did it like that, cordyceps spores contaminated a major flour mill supplying a large part of the world
>>
>>65440203

I remember that. The main characters don't get infected because they ate eggs that morning instead of pancakes, and the neighbors made biscuits before turning into clickers.

The coolest part of WWZ is zombies existing historically and pre-historically but the zombies themselves are basically magic who get far cause of plot

>“we have enough food and ammunition for fourteen days of continuous fire. It is now day twenty nine. And this scene is repeating all over the country. Atlanta. Las Vegas. Los Angeles. San Diego. Seattle. Washington DC. They keep diverting all our resupplies elsewhere. I haven’t slept in seventy hours”
How many billions of zombies are you imagining this military is up against again?

why the fuck does the author have such a boner for South Africa

at the time of publishing, they were the Good Guys™ because they were abolishing apartheid and the niggers were going to show us how they can really turn it into IRL Wakanda with the infrastructure they inherited from the evil white colonials
>>
You can't have zombies because:
blood pathogen - spread like hell when you damage their rotten meat, ranged damage only, limited world projectile weapons and ammo.
biologicals - connective tissue that makes the body work rots apart in 72 hours or less
voodoo/spirit - supply end lack of demons available to possess the fleshies
evil scientist drug - irl evil scientists are retarded

Zombies don't work, can never work, and are bad writing.

I like clever zombies, the sort that stalk people who ask strangers riddles before stealing/eating their toes.
