ru-tube is talking about guns, and basically, they have new content Ian doesn't.

Real gun enjoyers will know the Finnish fantasy cartridge this resembles (hint: it was for a SMG not a sniper rifle)

The peas in a pod is swiftly becoming the standard Russian antidrone ammo and allegedly its been state funded. The trad duplex/triplex ammo is going in the garbage.
>>
>>65421575
Apparently this concept was written up by the guy who invented the modern reflex suppressor
>>
>>65421587
Shotshell chads stay winning.
>>
>>65421538
That image is retarded. Tungsten is dense but not THAT dense. The two bullets would not weigh the same 4 grams. The M995 has a larger tungsten core and is lighter than that.
Also the bullet is stupidly short and doesn't even have a boat-tail, which would completely wreck its BC.
And it gained something like 600 feet per second out of thin air.
In short, it's shit-tier disinfo.
>>
>>65421843
>Also the bullet is stupidly short and doesn't even have a boat-tail, which would completely wreck its BC.
not OP but a boat tail has fairly minor impact on supersonic BC and is more useful for either subsonic BC and transsonic accuracy or for adding weight to the bullet without changing the ogive or increasing the driving surface. some of the highest BC bullets have no boat tail because they were designed exclusively for the supersonic speeds, like the ones from FABRL project for example, or the HVAP tank ammo. the lack of said driving surface in the pictured bullet profile would be the biggest issue and would likely lead to very poor accuracy and other failures. other than that you're right, it's a low quality disinfo pretty much.
t. spent some time researching internal and external balllistics and playing with some obscure software.
>>
>>65421843
Some 7.62x39 bullets pretty much look like that, but I guess they're still a little longer generally
>>
>>65421843
Tungsten is about 2.5x the density of steel. M1158 is the same construction as M80A1 but replaces the steel penetrator with tungsten, and the copper core with steel to reduce the weight, and still comes in substantially heavier.

>>65421575
>>65421550
Isn't it just a telescoping cartridge? Been there seen that.
>>
>>65422784
No, telescopic cartridges are nothing like that. It's some sort of weird metallic sabot loading that probably doesn't work.

Why nobody tried making a mini-APFSDS round?
>>
>>65422784
>>65422792
Looks like the powder is kept in a metal case that probably contains the pressure while it builds (takes longer due to the mix I imagine), then releases it all at once to get higher velocities and send the sabot downrange
Not idea if it would work as exepcted though
>>
>>65422932
>Why nobody tried making a mini-APFSDS round?
They have, it's just that making perfectly shaped miniature fins is really fucking difficult.
Making a 120mm APFSDS round fly straight and true? Pretty easy, we've been able to do that for half a century now.
Making one that fits in a 5.56mm cartridge? Yeah the soldiers might get a little pissed off because Javier fucked the fins on that batch and all the darts are flying everywhere.
>>
>>65422948
The actual problem is the sabot flying everywhere around your buddies
Even rifle caliber APDS is rare for this reason + it's really not that accurate

Franklin Armory tried making a new type of round that would be used with a smooth bore barrel AR-15, and half of the round were the fins, and everyone including Ian shit on that gun and round. Still I think It was a nice that a company tried something new.
>>
>>65422955
Rifle caliber sized sabots are not the reason they aren't in service lmao.
Soldiers usually don't appreciate their buddies firing in their vague direction, sabots or not.

>>65423009
How do you propose keeping the projectile straight if you can't spin it due to it being very long for it's diameter?
>>
>>65421550
what part of that cartridge is the actual projectile? the silver dart? if so, how does it get out? If its the entire front section, how does it detach from the case? does that little collar that sits in the case's groove rip off or bend?
>>
>>65422955
the actual actual problem is that with a telescoping sabot( which it absolutely has to be due to size constraints) getting the material just right so the driving disk doesn't rip the dart in half is hard
>>
>>65423017
>How do you propose keeping the projectile straight if you can't spin it
drag, aka fins and it doesn't matter how precise fins are as long as they're straight
>>
>>65423030
The silver dart is in a metal sabot (look up shotgun slug sabot), it's just a container that keeps the real projectile centered, both halves separate when they leave the barrel and only the projectile keeps going straight

Here you go bros
The M995 is mostly tungsten, way longer than that photoshopped thing in OP, and weighs 52gr. (3.4 grams). The jacket itself is something like 10-15 grains.
There's literally no way the retarded cut-down photoshipped thing in OP is 62 grains. It's not possible.
> but replaces the steel penetrator with tungsten, and the copper core with steel to reduce the weight, and still comes in substantially heavier.
No shit, genius. The difference between copper and steel is very small. The difference between tungsten and steel is about 2.2x. So of course it's going to come in heavier. But not THAT much heavier, lol. It's not magic.
>>
>>65423067
ok I get that but how does the sabot separate from the case if its kept in place by that little collar? does it rip off or get bent?
>>

>>
>>65423078
>as long as the fins are straight it doesn't matter what shape they are
again, stop spouting garbage you fucking idiot, sabot separation is entirely the issue with darts, fins are literally irrelevant
>>
>>65423067
If it's a metal sabot, that's a lot of weight the powder needs to push. It wouldn't be "hypersonic"
Also hypersonic is ackshually and technically over 5500 feet per second. Even tiny saboted rounds in 7.62mm are lucky to hit 4400.
So it's probably also bullshit. OP is posting the real 100-proof Russian disinfo, lol.
>>
>>65423075
I think the whole pictures fucked up, like >>65423090 says, but maybe huuuh pressure bends the tabs upwards?
I dunno, we're getting into aperture science territory here
>>
>>65423088
>fins are literally irrelevant
>t doesn't matter if the fins are not all identical
>quality control is for pussies
Get on a bike and put one hand out at any speed. Just one hand, on one side.
Do you keep going straight you dumb fuck?
>>
>>65423090
>>65423093
modern gunpowder's gas expansion velocity caps out at ~5000 fps which is why no matter how much you increase the bore size and reduce the projectile weight you'll never get past this limit and even close to it really. black powder's limit is around 2400 fps and the fastest bullets shot with it moved teensy bit faster than 2000 fps, using compressed powder loads.

so unless they're mixing in high explosives in their gunpowder this is either an exaggeration from russians famously obsessed with hypersanics or an outright fabrication.
>>
>>65423093
yeah now that you mention it it looks all wrong.
like the "driving band" or whatever being knurled for no reason and changing it's width on the bottom. Same with the rim, its knurled on one side but not the other. Probably AI generated.
>>
>>65423096
>>quality control is for pussies
quality control is for making sure they're straight which is piss easy to do you absolute vermin.
>>
>>65423101
>black powder's limit is around 2400 fps and the fastest bullets shot with it moved teensy bit faster than 2000 fps, using compressed powder loads.
actually i rememebered wrong, 2000 fps is the speed of black powder, the absolute fastest it ever went was 1850 fps in .303 british loads for the lee-metford.
>>
>>65423101
RDX or HMX or some of the new stuff like CL-20 or GUDN would probably be able to do that.
But we're talking about poccnr here.
>>
>>65423106
Let me see just how fucking stupid you are:
1) would 2 fins be good if they're very very very straight?
2) would 1 fin out of 3 that is 2 thou bigger in any direction, still straight, but slightly different size, would that fly straight?
>>
>>65423114
>would 2 fins be good
are you trying to spew more retarded shit with each post or does it come naturally?
> would 1 fin out of 3 that is 2 thou bigger in any direction
yes, straight enough for small arms by a long margin

you've latched onto your stupid ass fin retardation after being called out and now you just spew the same shit over and over again playing dumb because you're too butthurt to recognize what a brainless subhuman nigger you are
>>
>>65421611
Reflex suppressors are ancient though. What did he do to "invent" the modern version?
>>
>>65423075
If I had to guess, based on how incredible thick the casing is overall those tabs are meant to let the pressure build before they come undone. The entire thing is built like a tank though. I don't know how you could possible justify that kind of weight. The extractor claws will have to be massive or it cycles real slow.
>>
>>65423047
>it doesn't matter how precise fins are as long as they're straight
I don't think you realize how small these fins are going to be.
>>

2. How do you explain the fact that M948 has a teensy bullet in a small plastic sabot, and still isn't "hypersonic" at muzzle velocity at any barrel length?
3. What do you make of the ridiculous assertions in the article, like

> The same barrel would be used for firing both ultra-high velocity 5 mm projectiles as well as subsonic 10 mm projectiles without any modification whatsoever. (lmao)

No. You can literally look at it and see that tard-kun.

I was trying to read about it since I hadn't heard anything in a long time. Reformation or NRS (Not Rifle or Shotgun)
It used straight grooves for the fins to ride in, no twists, I don't know how it ensured the round chambered in the right orientation. Even if there were numerous extra lanes. At that point you're leaving gaps for gas to escape around the bullet. Accuracy didn't seem good and the whole thing looks like it died out.
An actual smoothbore and sabot with a finned projectile would have been better.
