If there was a real life Dinosaur Crisis what weapons would you use?
muh dick
>>65430166Reality.
>>65430166Regina sex
>>65430166AA-12. They either are too far away to pose a big threat, or they are close enough that you can fuck them up big time. I would like to see a dinosaur keep up a fight after eating 20 deer slugs to the face.
>>65430166As an all rounder gun, probably a Battle Rifle with a 20rd magazine. It's got distance, rapid semi-auto fire and penetration, a good package to handle anything. A think any assault rifle could probably do the job, even against the bigger Dino's but the extra umph of 7.62 NATO would be appreciated.
>>65430166aa-12 with slugs
>>65430166I’ll grab a .416 rigby bolt rifle loaded with woodleigh hydros for the big stuff (similar bullet weights to .470 but better cross sectional density), and a 10mm double stack pistol for everything else.
glock 35 with optical sight
>>65430166Guns, dinosaurs werent magical dragons immune to bullets like fiction claims
>>65430229Source? I don't think anyone's shot a dinosaur or seen anything other than fragments of fossilised bones

>>65430307Yeah and they had feathers right? Get out of here with this woke trash
>>65430237Guns put down rhinos, elephants, polar bears and crocodiles just fucking fine. We were killing whales with sticks and using their fat to light our streets for hundreds of years.

>>65430285Based.
>>65430670
>>65430166i shoot them in the skull with .22lr and the bullet ricochets around inside their brain turning it into mush
>>65430166Intermediate rounds like 7.62x39mm and 5.56x45mm will not be effective against dinos due to their thick hides.Full powered rounds will work like 7.62x51mm and 7.62x54mmR
Just use birdshot
>>65430166I would send two Reginas, American Regina and Japanese Regina
>>65430370I notice none of these are dinosaurs
>>65431920What about Regina Valentine?
>Walther PDP full size + silencer + light + battle belt with ~4 mags>AR pistol + red dot + light + 4 mags>my coveralls with sewn-in kevlar that I use to LARP as Solid Snake + lvl IV platesI don't need anything huge because I will not be shooting many dinosaurs in this scenario. I will instead be defending the facility from SORT and any smaller dinosaurs that get inside and doing everything I can to encourage more dinosaurs to come into our time. I would come to the island on a freight ship and plenty of shipping containers and transport as many dinosaurs as possible to remote parts of South America, India, and Africa to allow them to breed for at least one generation before making substantial human contact
.45-70 handloads with a 500-grain lead bullet. I would genocide these cold-blooded niggers... Go back to the Mesozoic era, you feathered transvestite cunts.
>>65430166>dangerous herbivores like Torosaurus get larger than elephants>predators have "hollow" but technically air sac reinforced bones and often get over 20 meters long, lot of them could probably fit your entire head in their mouths. Something as small as Velociraptor might find you prey since they apparently attacked 200lb animals>weird bird lung structure also full of air sacs, no idea how bullets would effect them in comparison to mammal lungsSo ideally you get something with>muh stoppin power, kinetic energy to stop charges before a multi ton meat torpedo collides with you>reasonable penetration to hit organs through osteoderm, hide and muscle or bone that could be quite thick>either guaranteed one hit stop or consistently devastating followup shots>needs to kill elephants at least for the largest dangerous animalsARs and AKs would probably be good enough in full auto for a lot of species but I'd want a G3 or FAL, I don't think any dinosaur is casually walking off a full mag dump of .308 and they're really not much less convenient than intermediate rifles. For the absolute biggest animals big game or antimateriel rifles would probably be the most ethical way of putting them down if you cant pull up a tank like novel related. Backup pistol would have to be viable grizzly defense tier but if it came down to that point you're probably pretty fucked

>>65430166
>>65434614I also thought about this or the mini belt fed, haven't shot one so no idea how practical it is. Possibly solid contender for PDW for guys assisting behind the lines who might get jumped by the odd Utahraptor in a quarantine breach or sidearm for guys with other .308 guns. I'm assuming its just a total constant spewing of violent dinosaurs from one central area so it doesnt seem that ridiculous of an option to me when your dudes are risking getting their faces ripped off by Dilophosaurus (my favorite dino)

>>65435989If they had ar-15s and rocket launchers like in the book they would have all been fine.
>>65438028Yeah, that's a can of worms I'm not going to open here. You know how mammals like us have 2 or 3 separate holes for pee, poop, and reproduction, right?Well, some other Clade of animals don't work like that.Birds, reptiles, fish, etc, often combine multiple tasks into a single multi-purpose opening known as a "cloaca" or "vent".Go hit up wikipedia if you want to gain a basic understanding of non-mammalian anatomy./k/ isn’t the right place to discuss animal anatomy.
>>65438033pretty sure you do see playing of AR's in the film but they're being held by background characters and stuff. the Spas12 was more novel and cooler looking for the time so it was the hero gun
>>65434528That takes me back. My grandmother kept that specific issue on her coffee table because I liked dinosaurs. I remembered it was page 70 without having to read the whole image. Funny how our minds remember things like that.
Dinosaurs never were, or will ever be, real. God made the Earth 7000 years ago and carved the land animals from the mud of the earth. The "proof" of fossils are all fabricated from a well-established synthetic geologic process similar to that of ceramics. They just typically use diatomaceous Earth and bone meal to make it seem like natural skeletal substances. Carbon dating is a myth.

>>65438064>/k/ isn’t the right place to discuss animal anatomy./k/ is exactly the place.
>>65438246Nice self portrait.
>>65430166well if you say real life, that means we are assuming realistic dinosaurs which, if predatory, are generally birdlike.223 or 00 buck is probably good for anything shorter than a human being, excepting the skull of a Pachycephalosaurus or the overall body of an Ankylosaur/Nodosaur (although I don't see any reason an Ankylosaur would be getting in your face, considering they're dumb slow herbivores) - ultimately the largest raptors (Utahraptor, Dakotaraptor, Austroraptor) are essentially ostriches with more teeth and claws so they shouldn't be substantially harder to get rid of than thatPterosaurs (not dinosaurs, I know) are immensely fragile animals, and would easily be taken down with birdshotlarger predatory dinosaurs such as medium-sized carnosaurs (Carnotaurus, Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus, Baryonyx) would be much less fragile than the raptors, but not substantially more difficult to kill than a large crocodile or bear - .30 caliber rifles, slugs, or high-capacity full-auto subguns are a must; hadrosaurs are likely in this range given the small relative width of their torsos (much less bulky than elephants), though are mostly harmlessthe plus-size critters - T. rex, Spinosaurus, Triceratops, Giganotosaurus, etc. - those are going to need serious big-game hunting rounds.308 and .30-06 might cut it in a pinch, same as an elephant, but you'd really need to place your shots, you're looking more at Nitro-express, magnum, or BMG if you want reliable first-shot killing power, but ultimately they should go down with much more ease than the hunters Jurassic Park 2 hadas for the biggest sauropods, I doubt if .50 BMG would handle anything other than a head or neck shot, but I don't see why you would be going after sauropods in a crisis situation since they have roughly the same attitude as bison
>>65438033Dude they still get fucked up even worse in the book, the raptors multiply into the hundreds and we have to napalm the island into oblivion to contain them, which realistically doesnt even work given the themes of the novel. I only remember the island having a few LAWs laying around only because Muldoon insisted upon them against Hammond's judgement, which at best would've taken out the rexes or stegosaurus and not cleaned up the hundreds of Deinonychus rapidly breeding with random camouflage traits and the other animal's on the island like the Dilophosaurus
>>65438309Generally agree with everything said but I would not be trusting a subgun with my life unless it's an MP5/10 which is reasonable firepower for smallish animals and a decent enough defense weapon. Hadrosaurs and Iguanodon would genuinely scare me though and I'd be begging for big guns if it was a possibility of running into them, I don't want to get stomped by any multiton animal. Same with the Anky, I wouldn't be underestimating them.
>>65434973!
>>65434614added bonus, you won't need a flashlight
Hell yeah Dino Crisis.
>>65438249No! Don't start that discussion again.Please.
>>65438246>>65433520I don’t understand the issue here.
>>65434194Why can't we resolve the crisis and get the Dinotopia?
Based on early hunting practices, id tend to say that dinosaurs having pea brains and attacking instinctively, possible CS gas.As it's both a very strong force multiplier, man portable, a dinosaurs size and armour wouldn't mean much, binding a dinosaur, disorienting it, it's speed wouldn't mean much either. And the high oxygen concentration of the Jurassic period, if that's to be believed, many dinosaurs would already be suffering a kind of altitude sickness and if panicked might just pass out. Smoke fucked up mammoths, confused herd animals tend to stampede.
>>65439049It would require thousands of years of domestication when you have about 5 seconds before your face is eaten
For me it’s the XBow.
>>65433508> 1 incident out of countless successesKys
>>65439504Got to start somewhere?

>>65440018She's thwarted grizzly bear ambushes and moose charges more times than you'd expect. She's a tactical asset.
>>65440020So you are saying crocodiles are immune to guns and bullets?
>>65440146How's that autism treating you?
>>65432705So fucking gay to still comply with cuck "muh ar pistol" laws in this fictional scenario where you're killing dinosaurs. Just say 11.5inch ar or whatever. The atf ruined you people
>>65434973You want a solid brick for big game.
>>65440159I just thought that's what they were called man.
>>65440159>So fucking gay to still comply with cuck "muh ar pistol" laws in this fictional scenario.........In the original Jurassic Park novel, Muldoon keeps advocating for the security teams to be very heavily armed.John Hammond, being an idealist, keeps refusing his requests, insisting that the security teams only carry tranquilizer guns. When everything goes to shit, the tranquilizer guns turn out to be useless, and the literally-me Chad that is Muldoon, saves the day on several occasions by blowing up hostile dinosaurs with a fucking rocket launcher that he illegally smuggled onto the island, in direct violation of Hammond's orders. When you're dealing with absurd and completely fictional scenarios, like fighting goddamn dinosaurs, obeying rules and laws makes zero fucking sense and is generally just übercucked and ultra-gay.It's a fucking fictional scenario.Just pull a beltfed 20mm auto-cannon out of your ass and start rekking T-rexes with Rambo-style hipfire. If you're circle-jerking fantasy scenarios, you might as well go all the way and make it as cool as possible just for bonus style-points. It'll never make sense anyway, and it doesn't need to.
>>65440183In the Dino Crisis game tranqs are really useful, better than bullets
>>65440191>In the Dino Crisis game tranqs are really useful, better than bulletsTranq-guns loaded with fucking POISON darts are good in DC2, yes. But these weapons are mainly useful against armored dinos that are magically immune to regular bullets. In DC1, the best weapon is an automatic grenade launcher. Most of the other weapons kinda suck, and the pistol is basically useless. All of the weapons are a lot more effective in DC2. The best weapons in that game include a flamethrower, a sci-fi lighting gun, a hand-held landmine dispenser, and a gigantic fucking orbital particle cannon that is only used once, out of the blue with no previous introduction, to smoke the big-bad megasaurus-ultrakillia in a scripted set piece scene.None of this shit is very grounded in reality. When Capcom made DC2 they went fully BA$ED and decided to throw "logic" out the window in favor of maximum coolness factor. I respect that.
>>65440210No, no in 1, 1 medium or 2 small darts is enough to put a Dino to sleep right away then you can just manoeveur past him or her

>>65439145The oxygen concentration varies from the era. The Cretaceous had more oxygen than the Triassic for instance. Nonetheless, gaseous irritants would be very useful due to their area of effect. Just keep in mind that birds are immune to capsaicin so not all gases or fluids might work as expected.

Isn't there a distinct possibility that with the evolution dinos were going through you would have eventually had fully sentient dinogirls?
>>65441257>air joustingThe fuck?I thought dinotopia was some kinda hippy fantasy where everyone lives in harmony and all humans are vegetarians.>>65444586Dinos were too successful. They didn't need to get any more smarter than they already were and just size maxxed from a certain point. They were already uncontested rulers on land and with birds evolving they'd have taken over the skies even without the space rock killing all the pterosaurs.
>>65444637>I thought dinotopia was some kinda hippy fantasy where everyone lives in harmony and all humans are vegetarians.Doesn't mean people don't like to have a little fun. The lance is padded and they are wearing parachutes.
