Man why am I so in love with poorfag knives.

>cut a shit ton of things
>gets dull
>just strop it
>goes back to being razor sharp

I don't need no fucking diamond stones are expensive sharpeners. If I lose these knives I don't beat myself up over it.

>>

I do that too...

>>65433017
Unless you're gonna be cutting shit under the water, then a Manix 2 in Mememax would make a better all-around knife. You get 15V edge retention with all of the benefits of stainless.

>Man why am I so in love with poorfag knives.
because they do the same thing as the 700 dollar gigafuckwit mega bushcraft blade 9000: Signed by Bear Grylls himself at like, 20 dollars. A knife is a knife, a hammer is a hammer, having a preferred brand is fine but if you get loyal to a brand or name you're a sperg. I've had one mora my entire life as my only knife knife and it's never fucked off on me once.
>>
>>65433075
I hate opening the Opinel and open carrying the Mora when I'm out and about. Well, that would be strange...
>>
>>65433075
That could be said about everything, a Hipoint can be just as viable as a Staccato.
>>
>>65433239
I view the 'cheap knife' thing less as a cheapest of the cheap and more so the option that makes the most sense without going over the top. I would equate a mora less to a hipoint and more a PSA or a cheap glock depending on what you're buying. A hipoint is a pen knife you get off ebay.

my fave knife at any price, $1.50 at Diaso Japan.

Its just handy downsized "chef knife" good for cutting and chopping, and stays in my dish rack next to the sink and counter. Fly-weight thin and only bevel on one side.

working a sheath, probably out of heat formed PVC pipe, the poor man's Kydex.

jack and "hunting" knives suck for any food prep besides gutting some wild beast.

Man I remember my parents had these since before I was born; the knives lasted so fucking long that I used them AFTER coming back from college. Then one day the last one was just lost and replaced by some piece of shit TFAL chinkshit knife. I didn't even remember it until you brought it up.

I remember the first pairing knife and the steak knife. The two middle ones I don't recall us owning, but the last one, I remember its weird shape. I don't remember these knives being textured; the ones we had were smooth and didn't have any square cutouts.

This knife rusts pretty easily, though. I have a K390, and that thing had to be neglected to start to 'patina.' I was literally using the Mora for around half an hour, and it started to discolor. And I've been wiping it with my gloves while I was using it as well.

A cheapo will do the job just fine and I'll never shit on that, but I got a mini-bugout 6 years ago and I've been carrying it ever since and it's definitely made me a believer in the more expensive options. Is it overpriced? Yeah. Is it worth it to have extra quality, fit and finish, and reliability in a tool I use every day? I think so, yeah. I've been thinking of buying another higher price point knife but honestly I'm a cheapass and this thing is basically everything I want in a pocket knife.

I carry a light and humble MAM which is fantastic at all tasks of a small knife -/slashing.

I purchased an Indonesian Kris

11/10 really cool as a fidget piece I can’t take outside

It’s the coconut leaf pamor (Damascus pattern) but sadly it has a bunch of cracks in it and I need to get the thing sharpened and reformed

It’s really cool as a piece to use for fencing and what not, when ur bored cause there’s a thumb rest and what not

If definitely was not worth $250+ I paid after import fees and what not

But for what it’s worth the cracks would be a feature, not a flaw if you are familiar with historic usage

Update on the Mora:
>gutted and cleaned half a dozen red snapper for frying
>already dull

I could do a hundred fish with my Spyderco. I think it already did at least a ton of difference fishes as well as boxes, zipties, leather, paracord, straps, etc. and it's still on its factory edge. I thought carbon steel was supposed to be superior to stainless steel minus it's corrosion resistance. Yes the Spyderco cost me $100, but for me it's not 10x better it's 100x better simply due to how long it takes to dull.

That being said for a stainless it still rusts, which is kinda weird.
>>
>>65441053
>That being said for a stainless it still rusts, which is kinda weird.
k390 isn't stainless. At all.
>I thought carbon steel was supposed to be superior to stainless steel minus it's corrosion resistance
carbon steel at 55 HRC like that mora isn't going to outperform a super high edge retention steel at high HRC, especially something like K390 that sacrifices rust prevention for better performance. However, you can probably just strop that mora back to sharp.
>>
>>65441053
K390 is a carbon supersteel.
The Mora's steel is very basic.
>>
>>65441117
Yea the Mora and Opinel is nice in that you can just strop it back to razor sharpness.
>>
>>65441010
Mysto or Deka?
>>
>>65441053
You'll probably find that hard to sharpen too, your stone won't cut into it well
>>
Manager at work called me in because 3 colleagues complained the knives, guillotine, "even the potato peeler" was sharp and assumed I was responsible.

6 people cut themselves last month, 2 badly, because they were using too much force cutting things with blunt knives. One colleague had apparently dropped the knife on a watermelon in protest. The manager didn't appreciate my comment that doing stupid things like that with knives is the other half of why they keep cutting themselves. Fucking normies
>>
>>65441053
Could it be that either you've put a right edge on the mora which as softer steel with an SS coat won't hold, or that you've put a funny bevel on it to the same effect?
>>
>>65440747
I like what you posted and kh4 grips are kino. I would carry a west German sailors pocket knife and match the buff finish.

But another option would be taking a single edge stiletto and putting a ww1 German trench profile guard/grip on it, and matching the chequering. Which would be every kind of German, except nazi German, and an interesting piece
>>
>>65441389
Ballista, the HK branded version of the Trauma with S45VN and a drop point. HK Parts has them for $127. Already have a Mysto and Deka.
>>
>>65441482
Idk I just stropped it at around a 17-20 degree angle. Using a strop with a 7 micron compound, then a 1.5 micron to finish it off.
>>
>>65441475
Well, were you responsible? If so, good job. If not, LOL even harder at your coworkers. I'll admit that potato peepers make nervous though.
>>
>>65441010
$40 and you have to send the knife in for them to do it. Haven’t told them it’s the HK branded knife. Not great, but better than a no I suppose.

Dumb question but why do some knife sheathes have two knives in them? I can understand the kukri because it is a very big knife, and as such a smaller knife in the sheath is handy.
But i see regular mora sized knives with a sheath that also has a smaller knife in it, which seems... overkill
