I know not a single branch got it due to politics. How well would it have sold worldwide?
f5 operators probably would have purchased it.
>>65437068it's just a worse f5
Should have switched to the YF-17 imo.
>>65437068Probably would have done very well on the international market for smaller states that couldn't afford the latest and greatest. Lots of MENA/Africa/LATAM/ASEAN nations that could have potentially bought them. But then, the actual margins + value add in terms of revenue would have been pretty shit in terms of opportunity cost, because you still need production line space, which is better served making high margin platforms for yourself and allies. In general not the worst for portfolio diversification of the defense industry, but not great for everything else.
>>65437068It would have made great for the ANG. But big (Ch)air Force choosing the F-16 made financial and logistical sense.
>>65438706>It would have made great for the ANGHoly shit I need to get back into the habit of proofreading again. I would have been great for the ANG.*
It would've done fairly well, especially considering that the airframe would've been developed and modernized further if it had anyone buy them. Its a real shame how much politics and corruption affect military aircraft procurement.
>>65437068Make it longer.
>>65437068it would've been dropped within 5 years of being adopted due to its horrible high speed behaviour, unreliability and all around subpar capabilities compared to even the F-16
>>65439105>horrible high speed behaviour,Bruh wut? The F-20 was designed the old fashioned way, meaning it is aerodynamically stable. The F-16 was thr first fly by wire jet, thus purposely designed to be aerodynamically unstable for better maneuverability WITH computer aid. Meaning, the F-20 is inherently more stable.
>>65437068There were already international buyers interested for the F-5 with a big butt.
>>65437068it would have only been useful if they added a bunch of widgets to it like mouldings of small metal army men under the boundary layer splitter plates so that when the soviets got a sample of it, they wasted money and time trying to cargo cult it like they did with the MiG-23/F-4the fighting falcon is and always was the optimum outcome for a low cost multirole jet for the west
Well obviously it's completely obsolete for any US branch now, but it looks sexy and I could see a small developing nation using them still. Even if some people say they're lacking in capabilities I'd love to be able to have one myself.
>>65437068>>65437685>>65438706F-16 would have a brother-in-arms.
Welcome back, F-20 Tigershark.
>>65441551 Temu sure make an ugly Tigershark knock off.
>>65442067You mean Grumman.
>>65442079retard
>>65437068Range is shit
