My birthday is coming up and I'm thinking about purchasing myself a new firearm. This is what I'm considering:
>tp9
>hk mk23
>sp5
>sp5k
>aug
>beretta silver pigeon
>a nice AR build
>colt python
I don't really care about "practicality" or whatever since this would just be a range toy. The Beretta would obviously be for clays. What should I get and why? Alternatively, what should I eliminate from the list?
>>
how much money do you reasonably have to spend?
>>
>>65440404
Sp5k
>>
>>65440407
like 3k max

Just saw that sp5's are going for insane prices right now though? They were like $2500 last I checked
>>
>>65440426
i strongly suggest not getting a genuine HK sp5, the knock-offs are plenty good and lie a third of the price. the TP9 is kinda shit and you'd be better off getting a p320 flux.

if you absolutely MUST get a mk23 at least get the cheap one

All memes. Your suggestions are almost exclusively overpriced and overhyped memes.

>tp9
B&T TP9s are okay, but overhyped and overpriced, they have awful triggers and only get "good" when you dump additional thousands into aftermarket triggers and cans.

>>hk mk23
>>sp5
>>sp5k
All the H&Ks you've mentioned are mediocre at best and overhyped because they're "rare" and therefore "desirable" on the US market.

>>aug
Admittedly the best bullpup. Doesn't mean it's good. Just means it's the fastest runner in the special olympics.

>>beretta silver pigeon
Beretta's silver pigeon shotguns are nice, but they're also fragile. They break extractors/ejectors all the time, and since they're all hand-fitted guns, replacing broken parts is an expensive pain in the ass.

>>colt python
The old ones are made of cheese-grade "steel", and they wear out and start losing timing after an embarrassingly low number of rounds.
The new CZ-colts aren't necessarily better, they just have different problems.

>>a nice AR build
A market absolutely saturated with overhyped and overpriced crap shilled by spineless influencers. If you want a good AR, just buy a GI-style AR that's actually built to proper high-end specs, then throw a good aftermarket trigger (not Geissele) in it

Got anything with an FRT? You should maybe consider something that can support it like an AR-9 or one of those cheaper MP5 clones (because FUCK having to pay 5.56 prices for full retard) because I can personally attest to them being extremely fun

>FRT
FRTs are like boats.
They're fun to try out, they're not as fun to own, feed, and maintain.
Feeding one costs a boatload of cash, there are few practical uses for them, and they break or malfunction all the fucking time.
Just as with boats, don't buy one.
Try to weasel your way into borrowing/trying one owned by a "friend" instead.

They went up because hk put a hold on production of the ones sent here for the civilian market
>>
>>65440527
Sounds just fine for a range toy. I may have brain problems but I like wrangling an unruly gun that gives me a reason to keep tweaking and tuning it
>>
>>65440404
>tp9
Most people who got one regret it.
>hk mk23
You'll be upset at yourself for not shooting it more often.
>sp5
You'll start to hate straight blowback after enjoying delayed blowback.
>sp5k
Same as the one above this one.
>aug
You might as well start vaping and dressing like a hipster.
>beretta silver pigeon
You stumped me here. There is no universe where this one is a bad idea.
>a nice AR build
Totally pointless unless you shoot 2-gun and/or 3-gun competitions
>colt python
After "The Walking Dead" tv show became popular, this became a R3ddit gun.

In all seriousness, if you can ignore all the superficial nitpicking I did above, those are some fun picks, have fun shooting whichever one you decide on. Personally I'd choose the silver pigeon, but I don't know if you plan on shooting trap or skeet.

>>65440426
Seconding what >>65440446 said. About 5 years ago people were buying Turkish clones ("ew" I know) and replacing the internals with OEM SP5 internals so they could have an SP5 for cheaper. I'm not sure if that's still viable, but people were doing it for the SP5, the Benelii M4, etc.
>>
>>65440404
If you want an MP5, I’d recommend going with an MKE AP5 over the official HK offerings and using the savings to buy lots of ammo, a FRT, and a suppressor. There’s not much of a difference in quality and you’ll have more fun that way,
>>
>>65440483

>best bullpup
In 2004 maybe, the VHS-2 mogs it now
>>
>>65440404
Get a nice shotgun for yourself anon, theres nothing wrong with the rest of the list either but thats my rec

fuck it, yolo
>>
>>65440446
Why is that $900 cheaper than the other one?
>>
>>65441747
because its coyote tan. same reason why the black SCAR is a thousand dollars less.
>>
>>65440404
I’d say wait until Black Friday if you still want that AR, Geissele has ridiculous sales around that time, and you can get a fantastic build for cheap by buying one of their on-sale uppers and slapping it on any decent milspec lower
>>
>>65441077
As someone who still really steers away from Turk guns, the Turk MP5s seem like one of the few things I'll end up buying. Swap extractor claw for an HK and then shoot and see how good it runs. Only issue I've really seen with them is a 50/50 due to a certain batch a stock maker mentioned where the stamped channels at the 3 and 9 o'clock are weirdly rounded but it only seems to affect his stock (and maybe the collapsing ones?). I'd still check thread concentricity too but every company fucks that up from time to time. At least the bore is centered unlike other gun makers (seriously WTF Howa, who did you buy those fucking 22s from?).

>>65441538
As someone who has never heard of this, what the fuck is this from?
>>
>>65441773
What about the Pakistan Ordnance Factory MP5?

Pros:
>Made on official HK tooling by a licensed HK OEM manufacturer
>Cheaper than the roach MP5

Cons:
>Made by jeets
>>
>>65441806
I've spoken with multiple people who own both, and the broad consensus is they're fine.
>>
>>65441806
>Pakistan Ordnance Factory MP5?
It would be incredible if they named themselves Pakistan Ordnance Manufacturing Factory

686 Silver Pigeon and it ain’t even close. It’s the blue-chip gold-standard of off the shelf O/U shotguns (some may argue Miroku Citori), sporting clays is by far the most fun I’ve had behind the trigger. Bird hunting is great, too.

SP5 or SP5K for sure. They are absolute icons and there has never been a better time to get into them. The aftermarket has so many stocks, rails, iptic mounts, etc. The AS Designs ARHK drop in cassette FRT will be coming out in about a month, and you can get DSM to laser mark the third position pictogram. Throw a 3-lug can on there and have a cool as shit and fun as fuck totally not full-auto MP5 at home.

Otherwise, get the Mark 23. They are fun as shit and great suppressor hosts if you want something in .45 AARP.

t. own 5 on your list and has shot the other 3

I got fucked over a fender bender by two latina cops who entered my statement incorrectly into the report, making me fully at-fault for a crash that was 50/50 at best. The other driver was also a latina, so they were protecting their own.

Eh, out of the box for sure but the AUG has quite a lot of aftermarket to make it nicer. So far there's no support for me to clean up the trigger, which is my main and really only gripe

This. I had a 1979 Python and while it's a great shooter (I got it that way), I've had to take it in for repairs twice.
