if amphibious assaults are so difficult, what went right for macarthur at inchon?
>>65441760>what went right for macarthur at inchon? The north korean military thought it would be impossible to invade so they left it undefended. Soviet tactical error.
>>65441783>Soviet tactical error.Isnt it strategic? Its not victory on a battlefield, it was choosing the right battlefield leading to tactical victory by default.
>>65441783it wasn't undefended, it was very poorly defended.
>>65441760The beaches were effectively undefended. Opposed only by a few KPA regiments with scattered batteries of light artillery. No heavy guns, no fixed fortifications to speak of.US troops encountered more resistance from the Vichy French in Operation Torch (who were infamously so unenthusiastic about fighting that they defected to the Allies en masse) than they did during Inchon.
>>65441760A Marine Corps absolutely stuffed with veterans from WW2, along with piss poor defenses and the sheer audacity of landing in Inchon.
>>65441794>Isnt it strategic?the outcome might be but the consideration that made it possible happened on the tactical planning level of communists
>>65441826No, not considering it a possible landing point is a strategic error. A tactical error would be to not send enough response after the landing force was spotted. Tactical planning happens on a lower level.
>>65441837>>65441826Then again, what is communism, if not a strategic error in itself?
>>65441794I think the landing itself was a strategic undertaking, but the defense or lack thereof was a tactical error. forces were likely shuffled around. I remember reading the Koreans expected a landing at Gunsan to the south so what they did was allocate troops to reinforce their southern positions. What ended up happening is the korean supply lines were cut in half, 135k DPRK troops surrendered, and the UN forces retook Seoul which cut the North off from their Southern gains.
>>65441855>Another one that does not understand "strategic" does not mean "bigger"
>>65441845One of Gods cruel little jokes?
>>65441819I sometimes think about this. A military that has an extremely high combat veteran %, all of whom are still well in their physical prime but now have the added maturity of 5-6 years. Lethal.
>>65441876Yeah. A NCO veteran core that is between 25-30 years of age is absolutely priceless, they can effectively teach new members (E1-E4) and "advise" butterbars into not making stupid decisions.
>>65441814>spot the Sicilian
>>65441873Russia existing? Yes
>>65441876Why do yanks do the native american larp-thing when they are a conquered opponent? It's not that cool, mainly odd
>>65442214the scots are a conquered opponent too; doesn't stop the brits from that larp
>>65441814This is the point of the proper amphibious assaults, ships can literally sail across the entire world, pick the right place to land.
>>65442214As a subject instead of a citizen, I don’t expect you to understand honoring worthy enemies posthumously. It reminds you of who you are and where you've been as a people. Your lords of days past, like the black prince for example, took the Bohemian King’s arms with ostrich feathers. To this day, ostritch feathers mean Wales. Crecy was an extremely Important battle for you in many ways. I keep thinking “how is this a difficult concept?”, but I have to remind myself you’re a mendicant subject, and not self determined.
>>65442234>As a subject instead of a citizen, I don’t expect you to understand honoring worthy enemies posthumously. IIts giving the life to enemy who should be dead.Greatest military mind of teh universe Genghis Khan had simple rule: city that opposed Genghis Khan will must be destroyed and its inhabitants all killed without any mearcy. Those who kneel to Genghis Khan should be spared. He got the point you know.
>>65442224But isn't that mainly the scots larping themselves?>>65442234After wading through the cringe my answer us 'nah'. It seems more like an odd larp to me.
>>65441760Complete surprise or something like it. NK didn't see the landing coming and most of it's army was over a hundred miles south. Inchon was the mother of all flanking attacks and by the time Kim could respond MacArthur was chopping up their supply lines. >>65442233This. Some of the most strategically important landings have been done unopposed. Vikings were famous for seeming to appear out of nowhere, raiding villages and monasteries, and leave before the reports got to the king.
>>65442214>It's not that cool, mainly oddIt's very cool, actually. God forbid anyone have fun.
>>65442224>>65442269When the natives aren't busy drinking themselves to death, they are the backbone of United States Army special reconnaissance and signals. Rather than come up with some fancy cypher, secure coms were achieved in WWII simply by speaking in Comanche.Rest of the military emulates it because their culture is appreciated.
>>65442214A lot of Americans are some degree Native. Almost all of them that you see LARPing heyahoya type stuff are. Personally I don't partake, pure English and I can trace my ancestry here to 1631. But for those of us whose only long-standing roots on the continent are red-skinned, they need some land-tie.
>>65442224when do brits larp as scots?
>>65441819The US military in 1950 was filled with guys who had FOMO on missing out of WW2 and fought like they had something to prove. They didn't begin to stop-loss all the WW2 vets (who were NOT happy about being re-drafted a second time) until China pulled up.Also, the problem with Inchon was that the Best Koreans didn't have the logistical capability to sustain their breakout south and had to rotate fresh units in to keep the momentum going. Once the UN rallied at Pusan the norks got their fucking teeth kicked in and stalled out. They sent everything they had south which left their rear areas undefended.Interestingly the norks also tried their own amphibious landing on Pusan during the first day of the war, but the ROK Navy was in port which was unplanned and the landing force was completely destroyed. If the norks had manage to seize the large ports at Pusan and Pohang according to plan then things would have turned out a lot differently for the UN.
>>65442214Imitation is a form of flattery and you should honor your conquered opponents.
>>65443429I sincerely doubt all 33,554,432 of your grandparents were pure English.
>>65443714We kept the bloodline pure by keeping it in the family, stupid libcuck tranny.
>>65442241Learn how to speak english, then come back to type this comment again please.
>>65442214An extremely high percentage of natives join the U.S. military and they've had a lot of historic influence. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_talker
>>65443705>you know those guys that suck so hard that we had to genocide them?>we should dress up like them
>>65441760I have a pic that seems on topic to post
>>65442214nah it's cool>t. Neutral observing Swede
>>65442224This is akin to saying "Texans are a conquered opponent and Americans LARP as Texans"
>>65443697I'm talking about the senior NCO/Officer corps, those guys were Waw2 vets. You can get away with your junior members being completely untested, but a veteran led force can do things non veteran units cannot, at least not without taking heavy casualties.
>>65445258I love real life badass adventures like that.
>>65445258>accidentally Heeee
>>65441783>SovietThat is not true. Soviets actually warned DPRK of a possible amphibious assualt. Kim ignored it and paid the price.Soviets could not intervene because they were maintaining deniability of their involvement, and parially also because Stalin wanted animosity between the USA and China.
>>65441808I'm going with Low Calorie Defended, maybe sugar-free.
>>65441794Operational
>>65441760>>65441783Americans are the best military in the world when they're enemies don't fight back
