Perps would be very afraid of getting shot by.44 magnum

One shot would be enough to incapacitate anyone, police wouldn't need to empty the mag like they do now.

Fat/obese/weak police officer would have to be dismissed because they can't safely fire a .44 magnum.

Looks cool when paired with the police officer wearing a rayban aviator.

Very reliable and almost impossible to malfunction.
>>
Any basic IIIA / HG2 panel is rated to stop six .44 magnum with safe backface deformation. Gangbangers will just start wearing vests as a style statement and then win through glock volume of fire.

It would be better if law enforcement were properly trained instead of only needing to qualify at an elementary level once a year. Also no more women cops.

You haven't been watching body cam footage. There are zero people in the world who would happily charge at you holding a glock but then see your cowboy cosplay and somehow give you all sort of respect
>>
>>65443601
You just know that if this was an actual issue the police would start buying incredibly underpowered .44 ammo that a child could handle instead of firing cops for being shit at their job.
>>
>>65443586
so the majority of officers can handle 10mm hey lets give them 44 mag instead.
Dirty Harry could not handle the 44 magnum he even says he uses a specil 'light load' (44 special) because of the recoil
>>
>>65443586
Over penetration is a serious issue for LEAs who may have to use their weapons in public places against suspects. Look back at the Miami-Dade FBI shooting in 1986 for reference. After years of going back and forth on this subject, from the 10mm to the .40 S&W and then back to the 9mm, the conclusion was that having a velocity based fragmenting round was preferable. Less recoil, less chance of collateral damage to bystanders, less stress on the weapons. It's cost effective and easier to implement across entire departments.
These LEAs are for the most part reactive in nature, so until another event happens that makes them question the effectiveness of 9mm hollow points then that'll be the standard.
>>
>>65443586
just way more than they need. i know, the police are all for overwhelming force and firepower, but not if it hurts theirs wrists

Shit would look tight! 8 inch 44 mag num + defense light alloy bullets
I wonder what a 44 magnum liberty defense round would be like in fps

It would put a stop to "we fired 5 shots!" and forensics showing they fired 49. Also kek at people who think police are "shit at their job" for not being able to handle recoil as opposed to all the other non-gun shit their job description says they're to do (like, y'know, policing).
>>
>>65443789
Big bullet is indeed better than small bullet. Get over it.

>Perps would be very afraid of getting shot by.44 magnum
They are very afraid of getting shot with .22s

>One shot would be enough to incapacitate anyone, police wouldn't need to empty the mag like they do now.
They would anyway.

>Fat/obese/weak police officer would have to be dismissed because they can't safely fire a .44 magnum.
Have you ever even seen someone shoot a .44 Magnum revolver? Especially a large one like an 8" Colt Anaconda? The recoil is brisk for sure, but it's not like a .500 S&W Magnum or anything, where the recoil is genuinely fucking dangerous if you don't acclimate yourself to it.

>>65443597
>>65443601
Getting rid of female officers would be good, but there's so many more problems than them.

>>65443626
That line was an error, he was supposed to say a light Magnum, not a light Special.
Hypothetically, it could be the same typical .44 Magnum powder load, but with a lighter 180gr projectile, or perhaps even lighter, but probably the forcing cone would start to suffer at that point.

.44 Magnum = Better than 9mm. That's just the truth.

>>65444056
>Then why is 5.56x45mm better than 7.62x39mm?
They have their trade offs. 7.62 is slower while 5.56 is faster, but 7.62 has more stopping power than 5.56. 5.56 and 7.62 aren't really "better" than the other the same way that .45 ACP and 9mm aren't exactly "better" than the other.

>Wouldn't be better if law enforcement were issued .44 magnum revolvers?
Revolvers just don't hold enough rounds, and Desert Eagles are among very few semi-auto magnum pistols. Every drunk-driving YN has an AR pistol with a 30 round magazine for officers to contend with.
>Perps would be very afraid of getting shot by.44 magnum
>One shot would be enough to incapacitate anyone, police wouldn't need to empty the mag like they do now.
See above
>Fat/obese/weak police officer would have to be dismissed because they can't safely fire a .44 magnum.
In many cases, the weak and tiny officers are secretly preferable because their threshold for "I feared for my life" is so much lower, which means they're more likely to have a justifiable shoot, which means the perp can't sue anybody. It is paradoxical when you remember what I said above. I'm not saying it makes sense, but that's just how it is. Our job has become very, very silly.
Fats are gonna be allowed in no matter what until staffing becomes less of an issue
>Looks cool when paired with the police officer wearing a rayban aviator
Undeniably true. A good mustache is also a must.
>Very reliable and almost impossible to malfunction
Only qualm is that they are harder to reload, and many naughty boys today have high magazine capacities.
>>65444099
Maybe it's just me, but I've only ever arrested people for shooting too close to houses. It's usually the feds that give a shit about gun stuff.

7.62×39 FMJ is a dead fish terminally compared to 5.56 and 5.45.

Who cares, compare soft points or hollow points with both calibers and 7.62x39 clearly beats 5.56.

But…. Big bullet is good…..

Personal bias aside I only know of a handful of people who shoot big bore stuff enough to actually think about treating it as more than a novelty….
>>
Police in Asian countries should carry single action revolvers.
>>
no. most police shootings happening spontaneously with little time to act. a revolver is going to be slower to draw and the trigger will be slower to pull. fire rate is slower due to trigger pull length and the recoil of revolvers will always be more stout. most revolvers don't have red dot mounts and usually the dot is awkwardly high.

automatics will always make more sense for police, the only time a revolver shines is when a cop is bowled over by a suspect who pulls a gun while sitting in their car and they have to draw and shoot as their back hits the ground.
>>
>>65444040
>That line was an error
The whole point of the movie was dirty callahan was to use the full power 44 mag, obvious plot error he claimed he used a light version. Typical noguns screen writers or screen writer/director mistake. Just funny is all.

>>65444087
5.56mm cavitates like a monster, which M43 doesn't really do. Combined with lighter ammo, recoil, and a flat trajectory, and the Eastern Bloc countries which had a choice jumped on the 5.45mm train to get the same advantages.

>>
>>65445915
.44 Magnum was never widespread in law enforcement. It's existed, Dirty Harry is merely an embellishment of real life, but the go-to Magnum for police has always been .357 Magnum, because that's a potent cartridge which is pretty easy to shoot, and isn't really bigger than a .38 Special police revolver on average.

>>65446097
It'll work. .44 Magnum isn't particularly practical, but if you want something punchier than .38 Special or 9mm Luger for a service handgun, then .45 Auto, 10mm Auto, and .357 Magnum, are all the best for that.
