In a potential large-scale civil conflict in the USA, are you "dead in the streets" if you don't have thermal/NV optics?
What are likely scenarios people envision in which having NVGs would make a significant difference for a civilian?
Are we talking strictly about defense, or is offense also on the table?
>>
Not necessarily, people forget that a large number of states weren't involved in the civil war (Delaware even kept slaves), so depending on where you are it may business as usual.
>What are likely scenarios people envision in which having NVGs would make a significant difference for a civilian?
Farms and homesteads mostly. If the food supply gets disrupted, you're going to see widespread banditry from "people in food deserts"; and they're mostly going to come at night.

you wont do shit, you were all tamed into obedient cattle
>>
>>65444098
NV would be minimum but thermal helps, lay of the land is even better
>>
>>65444098
No, because I'll just come kill you when you're sleep during the day because you were up all night larping with your goofy glasses.
>>
>>65444171
shutup you stupid retard.
>>65444197
so you are omnicient? you know when he's gonna be sleeping, you know where he lives? what are you, Santa, you stupid faggot?
>>65444098
as long as you have one or the other its not a big deal but most people have neither so no, you can get lucky if you dont put yourself in dangerous situations intentionally. just hope you dont come across people who are properly prepped.

No for the vast majority of people, but it depends on whether or not the place you live or the things you do would make you a target for people with NV/thermals, or make you vulnerable in a way in which they're a critical necessity. I'm sure you could come up with any number of scenarios that fit the bill, and if that applies to you then sure, get both.
The vast majority of militant or criminal threats that the average urban/suburban armed normalfag will face will not have NV, or in any other way constitute threat profile that would make it the decisive factor between life and death. Hell, even government forces couldn't afford to issue NV/thermals on a mass scale, let alone send their guys after every random dude.
That said, NV and thermals are nice to have even if you don't strictly need them.

>"people in food deserts"
kek is this another euphemism for nogs

All I’m gonna say is there’s a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world at a seemingly increasing and rapid pace. Get a Bible, read it (which I myself need to do more often as well), and seek Jesus Christ. I mean dude, we’ve got flock cameras, drones, data centers, bipedal robots, and stuff like pic rel being built. Next year in the US, all new cars require a kill switch and a driver monitoring system where if it detects you’re acting frantic or whatever it will turn off your car (look into it if you haven’t). Any technology intended for good, can and will be used for evil. Ultimately, if you have Jesus Christ, you have nothing to fear or worry about. It is easy to get wrapped up in all though.
I guess what I’m trying to say is in a hypothetical scenario, I’d want to have the best advantage hiding outside my home and protecting my family. And to do that in some sort of post apocalyptic/dystopian/biblical scenario- if I live to see it all- I’d want to see at night, and spot drones as well.
If you ever do seek Jesus, I’d reccomend starting in the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. God bless, friend.

How long do they last?

Much better to have a double barrel shotgun to commit suicide with.

Will give you an advantage many others don't, however those with access to that equipment probably have more training and will be tougher competition than your average Glock wielding nog, so it could still be more dangerous when moon's out goons out.

Another thing is a lot of people who are not super experienced with it may experience NVG-induced situational blindness. It increases your ability to see more in dark settings but doesn't cloak your exposure to illumination. Someone at your 3 can easily see you better than you can see them if the moonlight is on your shoulders and you're simply not looking in their direction. Not to mention a dead battery will leave your eyes less adjusted to the darkness than someone who didn't have phosphor illuminating their pupils for the last three hours. Still worth it though.

Thermals will make any living creature glow like a Christmas tree though, although thermal vision can often challenge depth perception a bit more than standard NVG so be careful in hilly and rocky conditions.

lol, always get some cameras. Ebay has some old school outdoors thermal ones for fairly cheap but wiring them to a modern DVR might be tricky.
Hiding from thermals especially across an open field is tricky shit.

China has made the barrier to entry laughably cheap as well. Everything can be hooked up to a redundant solar battery bank for under 1000$

of course not, because a:

will NEVER happen.

Avoiding other people in the darkness. If they dont have night vision, they wont even know you were there.

>you know when he's gonna be sleeping,
During the day because you are always out all night larping like you're in call of booty.
>you know where he lives?
Yes. I can hear the swishing of your synthetic tacticool pants every time to take a step, the clinging and clanging of your tacticool backpack, plate carrier, dump bag, and the other 50lbs of useless consumer tacticool larper gear and your obese thighs rub together from 10 klicks. Once I zero in on your sound, I'll see you waddling around, jumping and screaming, "FREAZE VERMINT!" at every leaf that moves, and hear your obese labored breathing from 500 yards away.

This is so unlikely it's not even worth discussing. If you think otherwise, you're a low-IQ, low-awareness retard.

Nigger, what? You can't even put together a 800w solar system for that. And that shitty chink shit will last you all of 2 months if you actually have to constantly use it.
