i was going to recommend a musha 1045 if you just wanted a entry level beater where you could hit stuff and the sword wouldnt snap and kill you. they get the shape correct. though you would have to redo the handle yourself they were always loose.however they used to be in the 50-75 range. now its seems like its all 150+ so fuck that.1045 isnt great but its fine for hey can i chop through this 2x4? imma cut cardboard. fuck you waterbottles.if you want better you can pay for better but if you just want to larp ehh.

>>65445406Well, for LARP you probably want something made out of foam, and I have a feeling /tg/ or perhaps even /cgl/ might be better places to ask.Now if we interpret your post as you wanting an entry-level Japanese-style sword for backyard cutting and the like then I'd suggest Ryansword. Now there's plenty of options and many of them are probably also entirely ok, but that's the one I know. A lot of their fitting options look like shite admittedly (yeah, a bit of gold and silver paint doesn’t really capture the look of soft metal inlay, imagine that), but since you generally get to pick those yourself you can simply go for one of the not awful ones.>>654455191045, 1060, and then carbon steel as a separate option... oh dear. There was a brief biut of sorta-scandal a while back where one Chinese maker was caught using one of the cheaper steels even when customers paid extra for a more expensive one. Wouldn’t surprise me if that's very common, even very cheap modern steels beat the shite out of almost anything historical and very few people have the equipment to actually test what steel the sword they get is made out of. Plus, even with modern steels a basic carbon steel that the heat treatment guy knows exactly how to deal with will beat the snot out of an expensive supertseel that has been given a so-so heat treatment. So even as someone very interested in material's science, OI find most of the worrying over this-vs-that steel for these applications to be very... armchair-y.Also, the "damascus" or any other patterned steel they have rarely look anything much like historical examples thereof.
