Could Gepard's turret be mounted onto a truck or wheeled 8x8 chassis?
>>
yeah

Yeas.
>>
>>65447294
Nope, it's too heavy. That's why they mounted it on a tank chassis in the first place.
The Skyranger turret is light enough to be mounted on a wheeled chassis.
>>
>>65447345
The turret is lightly armored at around 12 tonnes, including the guns, radar and ammo. A 8x8 chasis like the Patria AMV with a max payload of 15 tons can easily carry it.
>>
Its weight + reaction forces from firing the gun + how stable does the platform need to be.

That's literally the Pantsir

The ability of the multiple suspension units to absorb recoil is something that simply enlarging the outriggers is unlikely to replicate.

The Leo hulls were modified with improved suspensions specifically for this instance.

I don't think the Gepard turret is heavier than the RCH 155mm turret

Peek know-nothing retard post.

RCH155 - one barrel
Gepard - two barrels
Clearly the Gepard is heavier.

More importantly, if you mounted the turret onto this would it be a mech?

Should be mounted onto a mech
>>
>>65447345
They mounted it on a tank chassis for cross-country capability, not just due to weight. It needs to go where other tracked vehicles are going since its supposed to provide air defence for them.

Anyway, its a retarded idea because building a 'new' gepard on a wheeled chassis would be better in every way considering the 50 years of technological pogress. There's no reason to keep a manned turret at all.

Abandon guns in favor of mechs with super heavy spears or missiles. No middle ground. 30 foot tall spear chuckers.

I too work at percurement in the DCMS.

Wrong.

(it was a 1970s design for wide MBT chassis, perhaps a compacted/miniaturized electronics version in the 21st century could be designed with 35 mm cannon for a narrow-wheel-track transport vehicle but you can't just slap a Gepard turret onto a wheeled truck)
>>
>>65447294
Truck no, wheels 8x8 sure, it's called the LAV-AD.
>>
>>65454083
>LAV-AD
It doesn't have a Gepard's turret though

Get in the fucking robot, Shinji
>>
>>65447294
Just ignore half track though I see.
>>
>>65451308
Future combat should be giant humanoid robots with HEAT spears and ERA plated shields
