Anyone else kind obsessed with the concept of a 8mm kurtz belt fed sbr? I’ve always been told that 7.62x39 and 5.56 are just slightly too spicy for full auto. Something about the idea of having a low recoiling intermediate cartridge in a tight package with 1000 round belt would be perfect for a every conflict within 100 yards.

>>65448550>I’ve always been told that 7.62x39 and 5.56 are just slightly too spicy for full auto.>5.56 too spicy for full autoWat? Even women can handle 5.56 in full auto once they're taught how to shoot.
>>65448682I recall soldiers calling the full auto switch on their m4s a meme. Whether if thats because the rate of fire was too high or the recoil, or a bit of both, that is where I’m coming from. What I want is as close as I can to an mp4 level shooting, just barely entering that intermediate classification with a shitload of ammo on hand.
>>65448550>8mm kurtz No.>belt fedAlways.>sbrOccasionally.>I’ve always been told that 7.62x39 and 5.56 are just slightly too spicy for full auto. They are not. If 8mm short was still common, the same pussies saying bad things about 5.56 and 7.62x39 would also complain about 8mm short; all those pussies want is for you to validate their PCCs/SMGs.>>65448704NTA, I'm not the guy you responded to, but my unwanted two cents...>I recall soldiers calling the full auto switch on their m4s a meme.Yes, because at the range they engage targets semi-auto is more practical, if they were clearing houses and trenches then they'd use full auto more often.>Whether if thats because the rate of fire was too high or the recoil, or a bit of bothThe rate of fire is fine. You could argue that atthose longer ranges a heavier gun with more manageable recoil would help but at the end of the day the biggest drawback to using full auto at longer ranges is the magazine not being large enough, so you rely on the belt-fed instead. If the problem was the cartridge being "too spicy" you wouldn't see so many machine gunners who insist on using spicier M240s, PKMs, Negevs, etc.
>>65448704Full auto is a meme on the M4 because the M4 has a ridiculously high rate of fire for a small carbine. Direct impingement means the only thing that moves is the bolt and because it's so light it leads to a rate of fire of 900 rpm which kind of sucks and makes it not useable beyond 50 yards. That same 900 rpm on a 15-pound LMG would be reasonable and manageable or you could simply use an action with a lower rate of fire
