You're not making a civilian gun with pre-plastic furniture quality for the price.
A M1 Garand would cost like $2200 to make but there are plenty to be had for half that. Same with swiss k11/31, both cheap milsurp.

The most expensive guns on earth, going for a few million dollars each, naturally aren't particularly practical ones anyway. So, definitely those.
Historical guns owned by presidents, kings, and mythologized cowboys.
Or, a more modern option is those 1911s made out of meteorites.
