How bad are gun makers doing right now? I was looking around and I think Ruger is currently the only one making a target .22 that's made in America. Savage makes their .22s in leafistan and Henry makes a ton of weird as fuck SKUs, idk how they do it unless they only make a couple of each sku or something, but their target .22s are youth models only I was trying to see if anyone made a target .22 that had a free floated barrel, peep sight and could take a QD scope
Quality firearms are exclusively outsourced in the US. As are non-quality firearms. And everyone likes it this way.
>>65463107What? Plenty of nice guns made in the country. Sneed & Wesson, Glocks, a bunch of the HK catalog, etc
>>65463001Ruger is all plastic anymore. It's probably fine but I want a metal 10/22 and I know they could have die cast these parts for the same price.
>>65463107>quality firearms>made anywhere other than the US or japanI literally only own guns that were made in the US
>>65463001>idk how they do it unless they only make a couple of each sku or somethingit's that one. i had a boomer friend want to buy some tacticool lever action (no idea why boomies love tacticool lever actions) and they were all sold out everywhere and not available to order.
All the target homos buy CZ457 or Tikka T1x. Doesn't matter if Ruger makes the best target .22 in the world, cookie cutters won't even try it
>>65463643CZ, Tikka and Savage aren't made in the US
>>65463160I have an Italian Weatherby, Japanese Winchester and several Belgian Brownings. All exhibit superior workmanship.
>>65463693*and 2 Swedish Mausers, same
>>65463693>>65463697I'd buy a nip gun, otherwise made in America only.Same for cars and watches
>>65463679Yeah that's what I mean, people just buy imports because that's what everyone else has. Apparently those Ruger target 22lrs look hand lapped on a borescope
>>65463643PSA had a CZ475 for $499 the other day and I was just like fuck you. I need more money. I'd buy and take it home.
I wonder what the best option for Ruger American .22 sights are. There's a skinner version without a rail which is super meh, I have skinner sights on my henry. they're like fine for hunting or plinking sights, like the kind of sights you set and never change, but have chinesium screws, no markings and are annoying to adjustthere's a second version with a long rail which has a peep and then an integrated front sight. if you can remove that and use the actual front sight it might be okish. otherwise it's just a rail with backup sightsWilliams makes diopter sights that have micrometer elevation markings that come with the compact model, which I wouldn't get, I want the long barrel.Tech sights has sights, no railH&R (PSA?) has a rail with a peep but it might be centerfire only, it says short action
>>65466706I've been looking at them for a few weeks and that's not an unusual price online. Probably will be 400-450 on black friday. Ultimately went for a ruger precision rimfire though, just fits my needs more (closer ergos to an AR)
>>65466806That setup is lowkey retarded, just use the actual rings meant for the milling on the receiver already. I recommend a cheap fixed power crosshair reticle. I use 3x Burris or some shit that cost almost nothing and has never lost zero over many years and many dead starlings. Walmart special type shit and drop it down close to the barrel. You want the lowest height over bore so your shots within the realistic engagement distance are within the critical target zone. Think of a squirrel head at distances you might shoot a squirrel. With the low HOB you can set it up so you're within a half inch over/under in the entire range your're likely to engage that squirrel. Zero at whatever exact distance achieves that goal. If you go with a high height over bore you have compensation to think about rather than just point click. 22lr is not a long range cartridge. Low HOB, no thinking unless you want to actually shoot the wings off a fly. Even then, just Kentucky windage and use context clues for elevation change. If you know you need to be 1/2 low, just aim a squirrel ear lower.
>>65463643Ruger is the best because it uses 10/22 mags which are cheap, plentiful and just work. Where do you get extra mags for your gay unicorn gun? No where.
