>"light infantry"
more like broke niggas.

You try saving up for plate mail as a serf.
>>
What else should be done with less valuable members of a country's population?
Light infantry is perfectly useful as a formation that an enemy can focus on while cavalry prepares to do the real work.
>>
What will light infantry look like in the future? I can only see mass drone swarms being given out to specialized units or lone lieutenants who can see the big picture.

Late Medieval Post Infantry Revolution equipment was peak.

Why does the artilleryman have his pants down?

Was it possible for non-knights to wear armor obtained as spoils of war?
>>
>>65465941
yes. it was also possible for non-knights to buy and own a kit that's identical to that of a "knight" without being nobility.
>>

Dysentery.

>light infantry
>can't see them in the dark
bullshit.

i want a strategy game not unlike Total War or Mount & Blade (i know, they kinda did it in Poland) set during the 30 Years War and it'll be all about the logistics of keeping an army fed and paid as it'll be about combat.

the more you know about history the more you realize how common it was to shit to death
>>

I had a similar idea. RTS like AOE2, but you're trying to move an army across the map and manage all the support units
>send foresters to cut down trees
>use the trees to build a raft bridge across a deep river
>engineers dig simple fortifications to let your infantry protect the bridge head from enemy cavalry raids while you bring the supply train across
>>
>>65466083
Contracting a horrific cock-rot from some ho that sent you insane wasn't entirely rare either for traveling soldiers

Modern medicine is great. Frankly, I'm amazed humanity managed to come out of the jungle when you see all the wonderful ways "Mother" Nature tries to do us in.
