I assume they are just not putting tomahawks on them and instead giving them a 100% AAW loadout to take advantage of their superior sensor suites.

Being able to kill imaginary WWII battleships 200% better won't make it any more survivable against a torpedo strike.

One ship can still only be in one place at any given time. And given how the USN just loves to overwork its ships (because telling congress that what they demand and what they are actually paying for doesn't match up isn't as good for your pentagon career as simply smiling and nodding and letting the CO's and crews deal with the shit) I wonder if this might not be a "somewhat optimistic" calculation even in the best of cases. Probably very quietly sacrificing other capabilities as well, as >>65466825 mentioned.

Wait until they start stacking HELIOS on them with upgraded power plants.

This. especially in a BMD role the advantage of shipborne systems is that you can move the ship exactly where you have maximum chance for an intercept. Arguably you'd want a smaller surface combatant to do the job if you're gonna play americas everywhere-everytime "strategy".

How are you getting your subs close to US ships when the US has the best submarine fleet in the world?

China is quickly closing the gap tough.

I'd like to see Russian aviation try to attack a modern NATO battle-group.
Pic sorta related.
