First Multicam and now this. Why does it have to be like this?
>>
People fixate on ARs and ignore the SCAR clones building steam; obviously there's the Bren but the japs have one now too; plus as a third option the chinks now have a 416 knockoff in their own weird calibre. Just as multicam has its distinct sub variants (brit, spanish, australian) and countries that entirely ignore it, there will be a decent number of armies using SCARs and 416s instead
>>
So aren't those all effectively AR-18s?

Because it just fucking works. Why do you think everyone copied the Mauser bolt-action rifle in the first place?

We need a third way, now more than ever.

>i hate this meta!!

you're right. we need to force exotic countries to adopt goofier looking guns.

I get it. Ventilated handguard, adjustable stock, rails, it was more interesting when everyone was experimenting to get it right, showing off their creativity and a new rifle was even a bit of a fashion statement too.

Part of growing up is accepting that language changes. I still remember boomers angry at the word "cool".

I love the AR15

slap a modular rail and adjustable stock on it and it looks exactly like any other rifle from more than 10 meters away. AR-15 is just the ideal shape for modern boomtubes. It's a tube that goes boom with bits of the tube you can hang gear off of and all of the controlly bits next to the boom switch so you don't gotta move your hand much. By the time we get something much different it'll either be because of some leap in technology that renders firearm ergonomics as we know them moot or because people just really get bored of shooting each other with ar-15 lookalikes.
>>
National industry is dead, cheaper to just contract everything out. Welcome to this fake and gay bizarro world

he says, looking at domestically manufactured guns

NO

ask any famas user if they'd rather have an AR. or any ARX user if they'd rather have a 516
>>
>>65469946
Picatinny has been a disaster for gun aesthetics everywhere.
>>
One thing I don't get is why so many countries are going for piston AR-15s instead of AR-18-derived rifles. I thought the only benefit of a piston AR-15 is that it involves less retraining if your previous service rifle was already an AR-15. For everyone else, shit like SCARs and Brens sound more logical to me
>>
>>65469946
What meta, dude?
>>
>>65470069
Likely just cost and ease of manufacturing domestically. Why license what is basically a piston ar-15 with extra steps when you could roll a 'domestic design' of the thing everyone else is using and keep all that money in house?
>>
>>65469962
That's what an AR-18 is.
(Anons will sperg about this)
>>
>>65469946
Because entropy is the unfortunate rule of existence.

Did Stoner just design the perfect infantry rifle? Light, 5.56 is a very flat shooter, good penetration, wound channels massive internal damage, can easily carry 8 spare 30rnd mags, insane range of aftermarket parts making it highly versatile. I mean human anatomy isn't changing any time soon. What could even be improved, not necessarily about the AR but what would a theoretical "better rifle" even have that the AR doesn't have or can be modified to have?

Letting niggers shape our language (and by extension greater culture) is not acceptable however.

Cool.
>originated in African-American vernacular and 1930s–1940s jazz culture. Musicians used it to describe a calm, unperturbed, and stylishly restrained attitude under pressure. From there, it spread into mainstream youth culture and became a universal term for approval.
