A slug will go tough 10 -12 inches of pine depending on the velocity and a whale skull is up to 12 inches but bone shatters and is not fiberous like pine so it should do better in bone..those big super magnum slugs have massive energy Pic regular 12 gague shell, magnum shell and 3.5 inch supermag. Three of them rapid into the same spot should kill it. I don;t know where the medula oblongfata of a whale is though

But who does that except a select few? And is it even truly necessary? I can hit man sized targets out to 600 yards with my ACOG and non-free floated AR15 from 2014
