At least the turret stayed on
>>
At least, the officer survived the orbit launch.
>>
>>65494669
Given that it is a Chinese copy of a T-54 i am pretty confident it was a 'minor' breech failure, otherwise that guy would be in orbit unless they only had one round on board.

Well there's your problem.

Yes, mainstream media copy their stories form each other. Took you a while to realise this, I guess?

Looks like a breech failure. With this thing probably being older than its crew and the average attitude towards maintenance in thirdie armies, this isn't really so surprising.

I fucking hate Chinese (eastern) tank naming conventions so much.
It's a fucking T-54 chassis with an L-7 clone mounted. It's not a "new tank" just because they have bolted a cargo rack to the rear of the turret.
>Erm... it akschually also has a different motor an the fire control system is a lingchung3 instead of a lingchung2
SHUT THE FUCK UP that's what the letters at the end are for
In any western army this wouldn't even justify for an "-A2" suffix
The Germans added an entire APS to their leopard, and you know what denotes that in the name? Not a "-A8" but a fucking "-A7A1". In general there are more differences between the leopard 2A7 derivatives than between any of the Type 59 and Type 69 tanks, save for the ones fitted with a 125mm gun
>>
>>65494985
Doing pretty well to grenade the breech on one, could also be barrel wear just in front of it with some sneaky hidden cracks or voids, excessive wear at the chamber that blew out. Mind you I wouldn't rule out the entire breech being blown off the barrel either if its running Sanjay's pissing hot special sauce no refunds rounds or something. Quite a lot of the Type 59's that ended up as exports also had gun replacements over the years with a French GIAT 105mm CN 105-SI rifled gun and there was also an English Royal Ordinance 105mm L7A3 rifled tank gun

As i mentioned before, it had to be a comparatively minor breech failure. I don't think that would set off the ammo despite the T-54/55/59/62's 'questionable' ammo stowage set up since it uses one piece rounds. The driver was probably less hurt than the Commander since it vented via his hatch, the gunner probably got hurt worse than him.

The loader is the big question, his status is entirely dependent on where he was at the moment since he is the only guy who moves around in the rather limited space. I am not sure where the loader is supposed to be on a T-54/55/59/62 if he isn't loading, if he was in the 'corner' near the rear hull firewall ammo stowage rack he might be the best off of all of them.

I miss LiveLeak. They had high quality vids of Syria from the beginning. Showed lots of tank battles. One I recall showed two tanks, view from tank1 showed tank 2 simply vanish in an explosion. It was just gone. The terrorists had so many TOW missiles available to them they used them on small groups of Syrian soldiers.
>>
>>65494669
That's a small-ass tank, and the barrel is too long. Why do countries still build them that way? There has to be some advantages to build tanks higher off the ground, it's not the Cold War anymore.

Do tankers have periscopes? How do Abrams crews see and figbt assuming their cameras are borked or electronically compromised?

There was also the propane tank cannons being lobbed from one hood to another wiping out heaps of buildings, snipers and other random people
>And of course Abu Hajar
>rest his soul did nothing wrong

The lack of liveleak for teaching people about industrial risks is pretty sad, like if you need to do more than explain why you keep the the PTO cover on the machine its running, make sure the grain auger is retracted due to power lines or working in confined spaces with flammables is a bad idea. That had it all
I'm sure a lot more people understand lathes, machine tools, presses, forklifts and electricity is no fucking joke!
>>
>>65496569
bruv the breech and the round inside grenaded themselves into the crew compartment. there was likely a hail of fragments that got to him *before* he got launched out, basic physics, the fragments are lighter than him and closer to the explosion than him, by the time the pressure wave lifted him out the fragments would've already hit him.

Just the other day I was looking around for an old Iraq video about an Army soldier that got shot in the back by a sniper and showed the rest of his squad freaking out and failing to render aid. Pretty much a textbook example of everything NOT to do that I was going to show my guys for TCCC. Couldn't find it anywhere and then I realized it had been nuked when Liveleak went under.

I most vividly remember that one guy falling into the open side of a press thing.. so you could still see him while his lower body was being compressed and the lights went out.
Or the smart guy trying to push rocks into a rock crusher with his feet while holding to the edge.
Or the guy punching that gate in the subway and the gate yeeting him into the train and he doing one of these rolls between train and platform where you are still alive until they remove you due to decompression.
Anyways, nowdays you get these chinese safety animations but it's just not the same.
>>

Given the insane Indian Hindu breeding rates (2 billion population, +30 million births per year), this tank is still a based weapon. It just needs to not explode long enough to get in the middle of a crowd of Hindu invaders- who will attempt to gang rape the tank and get turned into pink mist.

Having been to both places I will defend the bangladeshis as they are far more civilised than the indians, having spent more than a combined 4 weeks in the country I never saw a single public shitting incident (even in the country side) unlike it being an hourly occurence in india.
I've been on their head army base twice and they kept everything in good condition there (although most of it is chink shit) and they still keep some of their war for independence kit running, most of which was left overs from ww2. Sadly they are less good at museum conservation, see pic rel which is a Chaffee rotting in the tropical heat and rain being crawled over by kids at the liberation museum, the insides were blocked off as I think they had stripped it
>>65495637
He will probably be ok as the army there is the ultimate gibs machine as they got a huge budget increase after they supported the coup 2 years ago for a payout and basically every party in the most recent election tried to buy their vote with a budget and salaey increase

Their special forces have m16s and Kriss vectors but sadly I couldnt bribe my hands onto either of them, if anyone is interesting I can post some more random guns they had in the museum

>>65496865
It didn't blow up and it didn't destroy the tank. It is a testament to the T-54/55/59 design that the tank is salvageable. The crew probably surviving is a bonus.
>>
>>65496560
The Type 59 does not have an autoloader so it doesn't cook off like a T-72.
>>
>>65496569
the official story is two dead and an officer seriously injured, so the gunner and loader got smeared and the commander wishes he got smeared.
the driver probably survived with no injuries that are more serious than a TBI, which, considering he's Bangladeshi, how would anyone even notice?
>>
>>65502743
My assessment is a probable loading/breech failure. They didn't blow up so I'm thinking the loader didn't close the breech block all the way or something like that. They use one piece ammo so it didn't blow up.
>>
>>65502762
Not to blame the Loader, there are several levels of blame that could be assigned all of which start with the commanded of that unit. The Loader is usually the least blameless and lowest rank person in a tank.
>>
>>65502596
norktard you're completely delusional, it's a single round's worth of powder that has expended a ton of energy already in grenading the breech. two of the crew are dead and the third is badly injured and only not dead because his sensitive bits were outside the tank when the breech blew. the only thing about the T-55 that would help make the tank more salvageable than any other is there's barely anything systems in the vehicle to begin with.

also the l7 breech has to be closed for it to fire, the primer is at the center of the shell, unless the breech block is completely shut the gun cannot fire, at least unless chang has completely fucked the design up or used electrical firing without a good interlock

the fact that the tank can fire when it isn't fully in battery either means shitty design or shitty maintenance, or both
the loader probably didn't do anything wrong considering there is only so much he can do
