You fly higher and faster than anyone else, you have the biggest radar and so you release your missile from 150-300 kilometers away and you go home. No need to train manouvers or whatever. It's a lot like an F14, but even bigger.The MiG31 remains the single most dominant air to air fighter jet in the Ukraine war and for some reason I'm the only one who saw it coming because nobody else apparently understands basic aerodynamics well enough to guess that flying high and fast with the heaviest missile is more important than agility.
