Okay, /k/, your insights in the last few threads were extremely valuable. Let’s keep going with my game developer questions.Let’s talk bullets and ammunition, including explosives, man portable energy weapons, and exotic weapons. What I’m thinking:>Rounds>Trounds>Sqrounds Exotic rounds:>G11 caseless types>Gyrojet>Flechette concepts For guns:>Gas (airsoft)>Conventional>Gyrojet Then more exotic weapons. But firstly what should non standard trounds and sqrounds be used for?
>>65499461trounds+nonstandard are best for machine/complicated gunsputting them in the equivalent of an AR or glock is dumb, something like an lmg/hmg is betteryou should also look at programmable weaponry, like self-guiding bullets & airburst munitions
The place trounds make the most sense is autocannons because ammo storage is a major issue for them.I could see a future where caseless trounds are used to maximize ammo storage in uncrewed turrets.
>>65499475>>65499468Would Sqrounds be like anti whatever rounds effectively longer bullet being packed with more powder?
>>65499461If your doing gas weapons the a ball bearing gun would be hella cool
You saw the other thread aswell
>>65499481sqrounds don't make more sense than using trounds, since they'd be less able to go through anything not-straight (theres a reason the G11 was fucked up)a tround with a combustible case (i.e., caseless) would better suit drums and feed chutesi guess you could have sqrounds on links, but trounds would still do a better job stillthe idea that they can carry more powder is on par with saying that 2% is better than 1%, when all you'd have to do is slightly lengthen the cartridge to get another 50%
>>65499492There are cased trounds
>>65499494yes, anonthats what trounds are. i don't recall there being caseless trounds, in fact
>>65499481I'm not sold on sqrounds as a concept, the space saving only really matters for big guns that need linked cartridges and by the time you link a sqround it's the same size as a round.
>>65499501Would heat transfer kill the gun anyway? Barrel and magazine swap need to be a thing?
>>65499506ntatheres plenty of barrel cooling / swaping systemseven the good ol' water cooling is a very effective systemforced air cooling is a meme though (unless you had an entire dedicated air pump, that is)
>>65499481Sqrounds should be used for blunt, for corner bullets with crazy high stopping power.>>65499484Seconded>>65499509A barrel swap mechanic would be cool, wether that’s a reskin of a reload or a Halo-style overheat mechanic doesn’t matter.
>>65499523What just a dense blunt round or what? Hard to picture
Fletcher guns, what are they? Beyond the gun from dinosaur hunter
>>65499796Essentially it’d be a dense square frustum packed to the gills with powder. A bit videogamey but I can’t think of any practical use case for a sqround.>>65500243I’m assuming they mean needle guns or guns that fire groups of flechettes.
>>65500243>Fletcher gunshttps://youtu.be/21qZpSJp5W0
>>65499461What shape packs in quad stack mags the best? Can we have caseless trounds in a 60round surefire mag for the +30% volume raising it to 80 rnds?
I see you enjoyed my renders. Here's a disk bullet I made just for you
