I get people like their sekrit klubhouses, but but it makes shit harder to find with a search engine and when a discord inevitably gets scrubbed because of some drama like child grooming or one of the mods was a female impersonator who had a breakdown (remarkably common and consistent occurrences); that shit is all gone. Many a time I've been trying to find an old version of software or a picture of something and I can find references about it, but they all point to a discord that has long been shuttered.

Which means you essentially have /arg/, /ak/, /hgg/, /cangen/, /meg/, and all the other generals up all of the time and the threads never, ever die. That is the appeal of discord, as well as its greatest downfall (besides crazy mods).As a platform, I only find discord useful for chatting and playing games with IRL friends that I see in person regularly or who have moved far away.

the only other imageboard I visit (once in a while) is ylilauta and the firearms threads there seem tame, full of people who actually enjoy the hobby and want to discuss about their guns.probably helps that the threads are under the /outdoors/ section and separate from all current event war stuff.
