You never see people using the folding stock on a MAC, but I feel like they would be impossible to shoot accurately without it.

>You never see people using the folding stock on a MAC
Brits put fixed stocks on theirs, but most operators seemed to have treated them like hobo Claymore mines.

You never see people use MAC at all.

It's a direct-blowback smg with pretty high RPM, isnt it? Short barrel and short sight radius combined with the previous 2 points probably makes it a bitch to shoot accurately so the stock probably isn't gonna help much.

Movies really liked the idea of a pistol that was automatic and since actors are firing blanks they can make it look somewhat practical. Like 95% of "machine pistols" are just compact SMG's with the stock removed. Jatimatic and the Minebea PM-9 are the only too stockless machine pistols I can think off and even they use vertical foregrips.

>You never see people
TV/movies aren't real. The only pics I've seen of MAC-10s in actual service were tunnel rat type shit where they couldn't use the stocks.

>Short barrel
It was built to use a suppressor, with that and a loaded magazine it weighs about 9-10lbs with the suppressor being used as a grip. With that set up it is a pretty practical SMG.
>so the stock probably isn't gonna help much.
Even without the suppressor the stock will help a lot in short bursts. The only reason to ditch the suppressor is clearing super tight environments so range is not the big issue there.

Should probably point out here the MAC wasn't really a successful weapon system. All the civilian copies make it seem more popular than it was.

The company that made it failed like gun companies do, but the design itself was solid and fathered a lot of foreign copies.

Aren't there countless ways to stumble?

Rule of thumb is that any gun company not offering shotguns will fail.

Those don't have screen presence, though. The movie prop people don't want a pistol that happens to have a giggle switch. They want a big meaty chonker of a gun that can be used full auto with one hand without it looking weird, and the list of guns that can meet that requirement is surprisingly short.
