There was some bows but not many, unlike the Papua peoples who really enjoyed shooting each other with those and there was no metal use. You still can't do much about their shields, your ass is getting stabbed with some kind of battle knife.

This had a lot to do with the limitations of the materials they had available. Bronze and copper alloys have to be made quite thick to remain rigid, don't hold their edges well, and are therefore pretty heavy and lose their cuttin ability before long. It's not a bad weapon at all.Fiji also was pretty lawless and raids could happen anytime, anyplace so folks really couldn't carry shields everywhere and instead spent time on gitting gud at evading attacks.
