Would a coilgun be the ideal stealth weapon? The projectile doesn't need an explosive charge like a rifle, nor does it need to touch the barrel like a railgun, nor does it give off a visible beam like a laser. All you would hear is the buzz of capacitors, and the sonic boom (unless set to subsonic of course).

>>65507536>Would a coilgun be the ideal stealth weapon?Maybe in the future, right now Coilguns are basically less than lethal hobbyist BB guns that lose accuracy faster than unrifled black powder muzzleloader pistols. Currently Coilgun projectiles travel around 150-250 feet per second and even subsonic pistol calibers tend to bottom out at around 700 feet per second. There are air pistols that are quieter than suppressed subsonic .22 but do similar damage, that is about as quiet as you can get a lethal projectile. Though suppressed subsonic .22LR is quiet enough that it is probably still better than using a rare, expensive, Zebra weapon that will give the cops a lead.
