>you are currently winning the auction
>>
on a single ESAPI on ebay
>>
Why the fuck is sniping even a thing? I get cucked out of the chance to up my bid, the seller gets cucked out of a potential higher price; and overall gets less activity because people know instinctively that there's no point in even touching an auction until the last 10 mins; so they watchlist and forget about it. Everyone loses.

>>65508243
>decide how much I'm willing to spend on [thing]
>set auto bid to that amount
>>
>>65508273
And then get outbid by a single dollar, which might be above your limit but is obviously something you would be willing to extend for the sake of getting the item.
>>
>>65508243
Saars coded bots to automate sniping. Much of ebay is fake and ghey
>>
My favorite is when three snipers all snipe each other and one nukes like a retard and raises to $500 on a $10 item, then backs out because he only had his ebay acc hooked up to a prepaid card (you know, the kind people reload at grocery stores because they can't get a bank account) and then just goes on another burner.

I like going to in-person auctions, but I was born deaf and have cochlear implants, so most of the time, I don't even know what price I'm bidding.
>>
>>65508284
I'm usually "willing" to spend more than I'm actually comfortable with. so by the time I get outbid it's mostly a relief.

>on a beat to shit bitcoin miner from 2020 for $75
I swear part of rising electric costs is that people are buying those and setting them up at work or at places with public wifi just to crank passive income. They use more electricity than they mine in bitcoin, to the tune of losing thousands a year, and yet people are still buying them. No other rational explanation other than utility theft.
You don't get ahead by playing by the rules. Welcome to the Ebay Husser economy.

If people just bid what they were willing to pay then sniping would do literally nothing. Sniping works because buyers aren't willing to be honest about what they are willing to pay for items and then commit to that number.

Strictly speaking, the winner is the account balance of buyers. Buyers who engage in sniping are less likely to get items because of the risks of fucking up a snipe, but they are likely to pay a lot less for items should they be successful. Given that a large part of the attractiveness of auction sites is getting a great deal at the cost of more hassle and risk of getting (and paying) nothing, sniping just doubles down on the advantages of auctions.

India went from 15% to 70% internet access in the past ten years. 958 million users out of 1.45 billion. This coincides perfectly with the internet going to pot.
Also it recently came out they have no accurate way of conducting a census and it's predicted India's population is actually way larger.

An indian dude almost drove into my parked car at the grocery store. I beeped my horn. He stopped and just froze like a computer program going unresponsive. I pulled out and passed him and he just faced forward, emotionless, like a robot. I looked back in my rear view and he was just stopped, like somebody needed to go back and turn him off and on again.
I don't know what the fuck it was. It was weird.

Emotionless doll eyes.

This thread is more depressing than those old webcam leaks on the 'Hub of middle aged men gooning and then screaming in agony because they realized their daughters were in a shoot.
>>
>>65508348
auction faggotry is why I use gixen. sniping is annoying but I've found myself using it more on listings by niggers who list [things you want] as auctions when they absolutely shouldn't be auctions. I haven't had a seller who pulls this bullshit attempt to cancel an auction when I do it. Yet.

They're just gonna use VPNs like they already do.
>>
>>65508459
You can't use a VPN if every Internet cable connecting your country overseas goes snippety snip. I know the logistics of this isn't easy but we could get it done.

>late for work
>fuck, I'll have to take the toll (its a single-lane elevated road, $5.00 a pop but no traffic and you can chill at like 60mph and waay faster than the freeway)
>enter tool
>line of like 12 cars
>doing 40
>one car in front, no one slowing them down
>agonizing ride crawling down town, often going slower than cars on the freeway
>car finally exits the toll
>everyone immediately floors it, because everyone is late
>as I blast past the car on the exit ramp, I look over
>its a fucking jeet
I screamed. I literally screamed. I screamed the scream of a man who is 20min late for work on his first week at his dream job.

I went to walmart a few months back and a saar was straight up watching the 'hub on his phone in the computer aisle, no shits given. Slowly limp-walking with a cart, with meat in it slowly going bad. All his attention focused on his phone, like a single core processor focusing on just one task. Had to go around him.

Something just isn't there. Granted, it's not just them. I liken it to the theory that there's only a finite number of souls that get reincarnated, but there's too many people and that explains why there's so many NPC "husks" just moseying about. A large percentage of these would naturally be Indian because there's over 1.4 billion of em.

Fuck I won the auction. Guess I own a Ruger mark iii now

Like it or not, they work cheap and work long hours. If you just need fucking bodies because white dudes are too busy playing COD and blowing away intergenerational wealth then that's the play.

>>65508243
Why is it the redneck auction site down the road from me can tell that having any bid submitted less that X minutes from auction end reset the timer to X minutes solves this issue entirely, but major auction sites can't?
>>
>>65508566
No, because GDP goes down if you do that.

to give the jeets a small token of goodwill like 40% of society is at "gooning at walmart while slowly limping" tier of intellect. I go to a large state college and people will just eat with their mouths open staring at a video on their phone, not even propping up the phone just staring at it on the bare table flat. a large chunk of people are genuinely only slightly higher in terms of performance to a well trained dog, it's a bit depressing
>>
Nice. Wait now that I look at this item some more, I don't actually want it. Oh, it looks like John Smith from Dakota Oblast outbid me by the minimum amount. What a shame. :/

some sites, hopefully unintentionally, allow people to shill others right up to their max bid, so you never want to put it in, just enough to win.

Anyone who’s liquid financial worth is largely in stocks. Which is anyone in the top 50%.

>Sniping works because buyers aren't willing to be honest about what they are willing to pay
This is not how auctions work. The entire idea is multiple parties consider the issue simultaneously while starting from an intentionally low price. Demanding that people highball is not the premise, and it most definitely isn't honest.

You are trying to challenge the premise while being flatly wrong on what's wrong with ebay. Ebay is suppose to follow the auction premise. It doesn't.
>>
>>65510994
No? Almost all of the top 50% use stocks as a retirement plan, which is anything but liquid.
>>
>>65511230
You’re right. I shouldn’t have said that. Most retirement plans (still bound to the markets) are absolutely the opposite of liquid.
>>
>>65508208
Max bid the night before is the best method for me. I dont like playing my hand early per se, but if I enter my max bid when there are already 4-5 bids on there and I am still not the highest, then I wasnt gonna win anyways. If I an ahead by a lot, great, time to sleep and not stress [lmao]. If I enter it TOO early then I'll check every 15 minutes for two weeks and I dont need that stress level. UK/EU auctions are the best because you can drop the bid and the auction will happen at 3am for you. Only rarely do I actively bid war against people live.
>>
>>65508208
auctions are so fucking gay, a hardware store near me went bankrupt and they are auctioning everything that is in the building. i went to the site that hosted the auction to look for cheap makita batteries and the retards on there already are close to the normal price for a brand new battery with 2 days to go and they still have to pay a fucking auction fee lmao.
>>
>>65512422
yeah, actions suck and you shouldn't bid on things. especially the things i want.
>>
>>65508243
You must be new to this. It's literally the seller on a different account running a bot that automatically one-ups you until it has reached the price he actually wants to sell you the gun for.
>>
The one upside to gunbroker is that people are unable to scope thanks to the 15 minute rule
>>
>>65512895
Snipe* thank you auto correct
Also the downside to gunbroker auctions is that a lot are like
>minimum starting bid: 1599
>buy now price: 1699
Those never get any bids. I hope any seller that does that gets ball cancer
>>
>>65512895
yeah but fees are dick and ass
>>
This board is fucking dead lately

Auctions are good for buying technical stuff if other people don't know value. Also if an auction gets no bids and relists, by that point seller is probably hurting for dough and may be willing to take a lowball DM.
>>
I bid $8000 on a dragunov and didn't realize the fees would make it end up at $10k. I went in wanting to spend $6000, but someone bid $7000 and I went for it. Just took out a loan for home improvement before it, too....
