When you cut things with a sword you get vibrations. These are worse on your hands, sometimes to the point of being painful, if you have an exposed tang. Some swords (messers) did this. There's a reason it didn't really catch on. It looks cool though.

Not if they're properly made. The tang is generally rather thick and sturdy. If the heat treatment is bad it can happen. This was a problem with cheap swords for a while, the blade would be heat treated properly, but the tang would wind up fucked up. So the tang becomes a weak point, with the whole blade acting as a lever against it.

In that case the tang construction hardly matters. It's probably going to fail whether its solid or not.

It will never come loose, other methods eventually will.
