Does it matter? They still bite, and need to be shot at, actually hit, and actually sunk. Even the worst they could achieve would be to buy time for the rest of the fleet to pepper Yamato and Musashi into oversized, leaky barges, assuming every RN vessel is would somehow magically be barred from penetrating their main armor belt. 12-to-1 is a pretty bad situation to be found in, when you can fire only just over 1.5 salvos a minute.
