First for fuck .40 Sissies & Women
>>
>>65523798
what's the deal with 40? it doesn't seem very enjoyable to shoot. someone redpill me on it
>>
>>65523801
the FBI got tired of paying for Servpro to come clean up the aerosolized internal organs and powdered bones of people shot with 10MM so they invented a caliber with slightly less kinetic energy than 9mm to be more acceptable for the modern era of policing
>>
>>65523809
FF would you take me shooting 10mm? I've never tried it before. Does it have more recoil than .45 supers in the 10mm underwood loads?
>>
>>65523801
.40 is born from 10mm short, the perfect duty load for police which was taking 10mm auto and reducing the load to balance recoil and ballistic performance. FBI had trouble with full power 10mm 180 gr 1300 fps loads, the training and qualification course was approximately 1500 rounds in 3 days - if you aren’t an amazing shooter you will have a lot of trouble after a mag or two. The downloaded FBI load which became 10mm short since they realized they didn’t need as long of a case for reduced load and they balanced the velocity to get good expansion and penetration from the heavier round. The heavier .40 round penetrated deeper/better through barriers and expanded larger than 9mm loads at the time (.40 still expands and penetrates better than 9mm, “9mm caught up” in performance is just justification for the cheaper logistics of 9.

Calling .40 S&W short and weak or sissies and women doesn’t make any sense since it recoils more than 9mm and literally was dropped due to the rise of women in police forces and their inability to qualify with .40 S&W.
>>
>>65523827
>1500 rounds in 3 days
That would suck.
I have some carpal tunnel issues and my hand/wrist wasn't happy after shooting 200 in a night.
>>
>>65523842
I’m not super sure about that 1500 number but I thought they were just bitches after shooting a box or two out of a S&W 1006 but then I found out they were using the shorter 1076 and were shooting 300-500 full power rounds a day (I was shooting 1200 180 gr, which is a bit weaker).
>>
>>65523827
wow that's a lot of 10mm
>>
Are Holosun lights any good? What about rovyvon? I have a tlr and can’t stand the toggle. Surefire switches are better.
>>
>>65523809
Every time you post /k/ get less and less fun to visit.
>>
>>65523850
>I was shooting 1200 180 gr
More or less same. Put a few bear and defense loads through but mostly magtech
I know it is their job, but it really doesn't sound fun
>>
>>65523850
They are bitches though. The 1076 was a 4.25 but still a full steel frame. Soft hands and bad technique killed the 10mm adoption.
>>
>>65523879
But without him, where will we get our objectively fucking awful advice, such as “I have never seen a precise shooter slap the trigger”? Who will mislead our newfags if “father figure” fucks off forever?
>>
>>65523822
>Does it have more recoil than .45 supers in the 10mm underwood loads?
I don't think my recoil comparison would be valid considering I've shot the majority of .45 supers out of my MK23 outdoors at steel and 10mm out of my glonk 20 indoors on paper, but I would consider 10mm less pleasant than 45 super
maybe next time I'm at the range I'll make a direct comparison video, it'll be a month or two before I can compare them on a spinner

My support hand shifts a lot with some guns when I fire a bunch of rounds, usually with subcompacts. Any advice?
>>

I was shooting the .45 out of a friend's shitbox so it was pretty rough, I'm sure it would tame down in a Mark 23 (jealous btw)
>>
>>65523934
You could try changing up your firing hand grip to give you a bit more space for your support hand, but it’s probably a lost cause. Subcompacts just do not lend themselves to grip durability like compact/full size guns.

Clamp support hand to your dominate hand’s fingers rather than trying to get purchase on the gun with your palm, use your dominate hand’s fingers as your anchor and push your support hand palm towards its fingers rather than trying palm to palm.

It only exists because 10mm Automatisk filtered DEI agents at the FBI so .40 S&W is how you signal that you're female or a minority.

>>65524024
I like shooting .40 s&w
>>
>>65524024
Wound volume is larger than 9mm, I would say better expansion. What’s the velocity on the 165 gr? The lighter weight .40s are usually the low recoil loads, unless they’re 155gr loads loaded pissing hot for maximum velocity.

124 gr +p vs 165 gr is a skewed comparison of high performance/pressure vs a downloaded lighter recoil .40

Well FBI wanted 10mm for some reason, and wanted S&W to make the guns for it (2nd or 3rd gen number slop models) all the ammo the FBI was ordering was downloaded from original.
S&W was failing their contract numbers, and the 10mms they were sending all mostly sucked ass and kept breaking, S&W the saw how weak the FBI 10mm load was and figured they could shorten it to ~9mm OAL and still get the same velocities the FBI were getting, so they made 40S&W, and then tried making more of their shitty guns for it. FBI figured the 40 was smarter. But canceled the S&W contract because they're 2nd and/or 3rd gen number slop guns were absokute dogshit and wouldn't run and kept having parts failures.
The same time at shot show Gaston himself, who no one really knew by looks, saw S&Ws booth and they're announced 40sw and took a single bullet sample and produced the G22 before S&W could bring any of their 40s to market, and the FBI went with glock in 40sw for their official service weapon, even though for years before and after FBI ballisticians put out multiple reports that best case 40 was round for round no better than 9mm, and at worse it had penetration issues compared to 9mm and 45.
But where the FBI goes, most LEOs go, so the 40SW became the most common caliber in law enforcement by a slim margin, and where LEOs go civillians go.
But even before the FBI replaced the 40, LEOs started switching to 9mm and overthrew 40, then the FBI dropped the 40 and nearly all other LEOs did the same.
On the civillian market it didn't die right then though, as the market was flooded with surplus LEO 40sw trade in for pretty cheap.
But today it's pretty dead, again best case is round for round no benifit over 9mm, it just has less rounds, but in reality it has more recoil, so you will shoot it slower and or less accurately, it seems to have worse effect on humans than 9mm or 45. It seems to suffer from penetration problems.

The FBI never ordered "full power" 20mm loads, there's were always downloaded from the start, when S&W saw this they figured they could shorten the case, get the same perfomance for cheaper brass in smaller handguns

Ah Jaysus, Mary and Joseph, lads.
I’ve been sat here with a drop of the good stuff lookin’ at this board again and I’ll say it plain: Burt and ppanon should’ve been together. That’s the pairing the Lord himself put on this earth. One of ’em a great fat mountain of a man with a safe so stuffed it groans, pistols fallin’ out the door, half of ’em with them ridiculous blue frames like he bought the whole cerakote shop in one go. The other a wee twink knockin’ about with a 1903 Hammerless like it’s a rosary. The contrast. The banter. The “I’ve more guns than sense” meetin’ the “this wee .32 is all a man needs.” That was real, so it was.
But I’ve made me peace with it now. I’ve resolved meself. It ain’t happenin’. The fat fella’s married to the pile and the lad’s married to that little hammerless pocket pistol and that’s the end of it. I won’t be howlin’ at the moon about it anymore. What’s done is done. I’ll not be the sad eejit still writin’ essays in 2026 about two anons who were never goin’ to share a range bag.
So enjoy it while it lasts, ye “it could never work” lot. Enjoy it. Because when this board turns on ye, there’ll be no savin’ ye. Faith, there won’t.
Anyway. I’m off to have another. God bless.

The PX4 (Storm Compact Carry 2 G) is so lauded because essentially it's lightning in a bottle. For decades, people wanted a gun that shoots like a full-size but is light and concealable. The Glock 19 essentially IS that gun but the PX4 not only has features that a lot of people want (hammer, DA/SA, decocker, fat mag release, fat slide lock, non-Glock sights lmao) but it shoots significantly softer making follow up shots a breeze.

The PX4 Compact 2, out of the box, is the best compact conceal carry piece on the market today. If you don't believe me, just try it

And you're a faggot if you buy one in .40
>>
>>65524727
The px4 storm flips so much more than a glock, thanks in part to its sears tower height bore axis.
Those "features" you claim are considered flaws by anyone but the most retarded noguns/newguns

>They may have tested it I dunno
Only for the most preliminary testing, according to John Hall himself:
>Samples of commercially available 10mm ammunition were
>acquired and preliminarily evaluated as to suitability for law
>enforcement use. The high chamber pressures generated by the
>commercial loadings, with the resultant heavy recoil and muzzle
>blast, tended to offset the otherwise excellent performance of the
>round. Therefore, the FBI Firearms Training Unit decided to
>create a new loading for the 10mm, one with velocities com-
>parable to those of the competing 9mm and .45 cartridges. A 180
>grain hollow point bullet was acquired and handloaded to a
>velocity of 950 feet per second. This loading not only matched the
>velocities of the other two cartridges, but it also dramatically
>reduced recoil and muzzle blast.
>In the absence of factory ammunition built to the desired
>specifications, the 10mm rounds initially subjected to the test pro-
>tocol were those handloaded by the Firearms Training Unit staff.
>Subsequently, factory-loaded 10mm ammunition was acquired
>and built to the desired specifications, which actually met or sur-
>passed the performance of the handloaded test ammunition.

Not trying to suggest P320s are cool, but I'd rather post guns that are mine than guns that aren't.

I have an older friend who is extremely knowledgeable/skilled with firearms and he is my expert on 10mm. For years, he used to EDC a Colt Delta Elite that he put thousands of dollars into. Now I believe he's sold that and uses a custom M&P 2.0 for most of his competition and shooting.

He tried a few Tanfoglios and said they were finnicky.

The plate is held in by less screws (2 x 4-40 vs 3 x 4-40 + slight anti recoil dovetail + peg, Dlahh uses threaded aluminum posts which are more fragile then LTT’s steel removable T-nut inserts - overtorquing a LTT will cause those to fail which means parts replacement, doing so on a Dlahh will need to replace the entire plate,

I haven’t checked for years but last I remember Dlahh made a thicker taller plate as his super low one was too fragile

Personally I’d rather go with Eleven 71 design’s titanium plate instead of paying 100 dollars for an aluminum cope plate from a redditor

I’m not among the people who have been talking about .40 lately, but the discussion kind of makes me want to grab a cheap .40 like a px4.
Mainly because I think it couldn’t hurt to have another caliber for more shooting availability when things are scarce. The next reason would be that it’s simply fun and good practice to shoot more guns.
It would also be a gun that I could take camping and fishing and not feel bad about treating kind of rough.

Some guns have a VERY tight disassembly pin at first. Either recoil gradually loosens it up by the time the first cleaning/disassembly is done, or a punch has to be used in the first takedown. Sometimes guns advise using the base of the magazine plate as a makeshift punch tool to push it out too.

But it's rare that an external tool is considered necessary for merely taking the slide off

Connecticut has a “Glock ban” starting October 1st. I forget what they were going after. Something about a convertible trigger or the trigger bar? Glock wasn't really doing it to comply with anything. They were doing it as a fig leaf to dump a bunch of models they didn't want to make anymore since old man Gaston finally died. Gaston didn't want to limit the calibers or sizes that he was willing to sell, but the objective of chasing ever-greater profit demanded cheapening, so here we are, the greatest excuse that could be asked for.

FWIW, they do still list most if not all the same gen3/gen4/gen5 models on the LEO page:

But that includes the G24, which I'm pretty sure they haven't made in years, so I wouldn't read too much into that as to what models actually remain in production and/or have parts availability.

My cz82 is probably my favorite gun I own. Be careful with the MFS surplus ammo though, I had several case ruptures in a single box.
>>
>>65526671
You never know when you can be dragged into an extended firefight in a walmart or mcdonalds parking lot
>>
>>65526687
cz82 was the first gun i ever owned. I sold it a couple years ago but for $200 at the time (2012 i think) couldn't beat that deal.
>>
>>65526687
I've never had that happen. What is the end result of that? Just tough to extract by hand?
I only shot 5 boxes of that ammo, but really enjoy it. The sound is like no other ammo I have. Is that because of the lighter projectile?
>>
>>65526600
We remove the cylinder and make it feed from a box magazine with a spring

We leverage the pressure and recoil of the first shot to cycle the action instead of having the shooter cycle it manually

Needs a cocking spring you wind up with enough energy to overcome the hammer spring 6x after you reload, then it recocks the hammer every time you release the trigger.
Don't worry, we'll put a trigger dingus on it to keep it safe.

thought the ergos were a little weird at first but all the S&W M&P guns are just kinda thin like that. Doesn't really cause any noticeable issues with grip while shooting though. Interchangeable cylinders. Instead of reloading one by one, you detach a spent cylinder with a loaded one. Makes reloading more efficient.

>>65527357
What if you made it so each “detachable cylinder” only had one round but was in a large cylinder containing many “detachable cylinders” perhaps a rectangle, that would feed each “detachable cylinder” into the chamber. The gun would automatically detach or eject each spent cylinder and feed in the next
>>
Is there such a thing as too much capacity? If you could cram 100 rounds of 9mm into a pistol, would it be worth it, or would the pistol become so heavy it becomes too much of a burden to carry?

I mean, that idea is really just complicating the speed loader. I do think it'd be faster to replace a spent cylinder with a loaded cylinder as opposed to using a speed strip.

To make something that tastes like shit not taste like shit? Just not to excess. It's like coffee, most people actually have taste buds so black coffee tastes like cigarette ash, causing most people to dose it with a lil cream and sugar. But there are also Starbucks foids who go apeshit with 27-pump sugarbombs

The point is bare broc is ridiculous, just eat handfulls of lawn clippings at that point

I dunno about that. The Apex Trigger is already way better than everything but a Walther trigger, and they're pretty close. I think just dropping that into a stock Smith is all you could reasonably ask for. The Carry Comp internals are the same, perhaps polished better.

The reason why all those guns suck out of the box is because they're designed so the lowest common denominator who becomes a cop/milfag doesn't shoot his dick off. Sig designed a striker-fired duty gun with a light trigger and no manual safeties and we all know what happened there.
