Top choices would be goats and chickens which basically live on scrubby forest land and brush. Pigs are underrated for this purpose due to fat body, if you have bulk to feed them consistently they are just walking food storage. Obviously top of the chain is cattle if you have the pastures. Make sure to get proper breeds for self reliance and not industrial pharma slop reliant weaklings. These are surprisingly difficult to source because so few farmers actually practice the old ways of interdependent heritage genetics. Farms are commodity producers in a supply chain these days. The classic dairy operation before Rockefeller was producing cream and butter for humans and whey to feed pigs to make bacon (fat) for humans, with chickens running around for eggs (fat) for humans. The point here is you can put meat in the freezer but then you are paying inflated prices at the pump to keep your power on. Grass or brush is free if you have the land. Ultimately a small farm has all of these breeds working in tandem. The pastured pork breed clears underbrush so grass grows, goats eat the vegetation and cattle eat the grass, as fly larva develops on the manure you bring in the chickens to catch that protein. Geese can thrive on grass as well so move them through. The pigs can eat cow manure, dairy whey and eggs. Your pond will have ducks and duckweed which can be collected as feed for other animals. The whole system feeds itself no matter what the electrical grid or diesel prices are doing. Remember that plants just grow like that. Without machinery or input they just collect sunlight and reproduce themselves for free without any help. Animals that fit into that ecosystem represent true self reliance for a farmer. Humans run on animal fat, never forget that.

Look for shooting ranges with specific features such as long range, machine gun allowed, competition pits, etc. Boomer fudd ranges get filtered very quickly. Find the local night shoot groups. Go train with the credentialed tactical firearms trainers and socialize/network. Find local helicopter and small aircraft fields and find out who could save your ass. Look at recent history: Katrina, 2020 plandemic, NC floods. Learn the lessons and observe who did what.
