So what's the deal with those Tisha suppressors? The guy at my LGS tried to sell me one the other day and said they're meant for AKs. They also remembered my name from previous transactions when I was only in there to buy oil this time, so I think that's a sign I buy too much stuff from them.
>>
>>65528565
>said they're meant for AKs
Last time I checked they don't make tisha in 762 or 545, Maybe the 30 cal version? I'm not update on the latest and greatest suppressor tech but from what I read and seen the tisha is up there on being #1 especially for its size and weight. Also what oil were you buying?
>>
>>65528863
Yeah the guy said they're supposed to be a clone of a Zenitco suppressor, but I think he meant the Delta-Tek "flash hider" that you can actually buy now after they were unobtainable for years (sadly I never bought one when they were like $250). Also I was buying the meme onions sauce oil that is popular with instagram faggots right now because my gf is getting into guns and wanted some.

I'd get the helikon-tex chicom if it had double stack pouches, right now it's just a slightly upgraded chicom with a nice H strap

what is the consensus on kommandostore jaeger? seems a little overpriced for what it is, though real SSO chest rigs have been very rare here so this might be the only alternative
>>65550052
I'm currently running a shitty molle beltkit and while it's pretty comfortable I feel it fills a pretty niche role, for 1 day excursion a decent chest rig suffices and anything longer than 3 days a chest rig + big ruck seems superior than lbe (you can't really use a backpack hip pad with smersh or any lbe)
>>

Jaeger rig I have heard is kinda dumb because those grenade pouches are weirdly sized. The project 84 chest rig from kommandostore might be a better option, ive got their smersh and its well made and high quality

Question regarding the JMAC East German MPI NK gas block.

I finally want to make my dream gun a reality: an MPI AKS-74 NK clone. Unfortunately, my options for a base rifle are pretty limited. Basically, I can get a WBP in 5.45.

From what I understand, for an NK build I'd need to start with a full-length rifle, since the upcoming WBP 100-series guns would probably be too short once the original gas block is replaced.

The problem is that the full-size WBP is AKM-spec and uses a 45° gas block. Has anyone here done this kind of conversion or worked with the JMAC NK gas block on an AKM-pattern barrel?

Mainly wondering whether this combination works at all without major issues. I remember there was an anon here with a beautiful NK build a while back, so maybe he's still around.

Pic related would be the setup I'm trying to replicate.

If you have the ability to acquire SVD's it makes no sense to also be purchasing mosins. The market is saturated with cheap semi-auto and automatic rifles. If you have SVD's the logical acquisition is PKM's or just keep the 7.62x54r solely in your DMR/Guerilla-somewhat-accurate-dude role. This is all so fucking absurd

Buy a PSA AK, and if you like it, great

>>

Well, no not really it’s just they’re up in price close to other or reputable firearms and it seems like as far as a case go currently everything is sold out. I was just hoping that somebody would do an actual justifiable reason why they’re bad instead of just saying go bad.

Misha did a video on Pioneer arms and they’re Polish shake which ended up lasting several thousand rounds and got the shit kicked out of it with more or less normal amount of wear,

Well, normally I'd recommend buying a Zastava ZPAP, but you said you didn't want to spend $1,000+ on an AK so you don't really have many options

It sounds like your mind is already made up and you're just looking for justification, if I'm being frank, so that's why I just suggested buying a PSA or whatever regardless of what anyone here says

The problem with PSA, is that no one knows, you could get an ok rifle, however there is a chance you could get a shitty QC one where problems can appear out of the box or after a few thousand rounds. If you are just going to shoot it a few times a year im sure it will be fine. However if you intend on shooting a lot just save a few extra hundred to get a WBP or a WASR.

>Is there a single rifle out there that is actually AK reliable out of the box? Are Wasr and ZASTAVA really it?
No because these rifles are a dated design that is assembled by drunken slavic Homer Simpsons using second-world manufacturing levels of QC. If you actually want an AK that is near Western level of quality then you have to swallow your pride and buy a Galil ACE. I'm not saying regular AKs are bad, but at the end of the day they are basically $300 rifles being sold to Americans for $1000 apiece.
>>
>>65568244
Most 5.56 AKs are US manufactured and US built AKs are not known for quality.

>5.56 AK firing pin out of spec
It seems to be a common issue with every AK maker who begins making a 5.56 AK. Meridian defense had the same issue not sure if they’re fixed it yet or not. PSA I also had the same issue, but seemed to have fixed.
From everything I’ve seen so far if you want a dirt cheap modern AK that (sometimes) works PSA is your best bet aside form a WASR. People are also telling me Riley Defense has improved in quality since 2026, their bolt carrier, bolt, and trunnions are now forged, probably gonna pick up one of their 7.62 Krinks to test out. Haven’t heard any news on the newer batches of American Century Arms AKs but they are fucking everywhere now, probably the single most common AK I see on shelves in stores. I can attest that literally every gun store in Arizona has at least three. Anybody know if Century Arms VSAKs still use pot-metal trunnions?
>>
>>65571937
Ignore this gurofag, I'd rather have a rifle that eats a firing pin every once in a while than a rifle that is slowly turning into a pipe bomb with a headspace that walks out.
>Meridian eating pins
Source? Only issue they have is accuracy related and it is entirely down to their 74 brake. Take it off the rifle and the accuracy is where it should be for any other AK.
>>
>>65571937
Nobody here owns or shoots AKs enough to tell you what works or doesn’t.
See this nigger: >>65572298 he’s literally saying that eating firing pins is OK, this immediately tells me that he’s an AR guy because he’s never changed his firing pen in an AK, he doesn’t own or shoot AKs, he is a no-shoot nigger. Changing of firing pins in an AK is not a great idea because sometimes they are hand fitted and bury a lot even within manufacturers. That’s the main reason why AK components are supposed to last forever because that shit is not as interchangeable.

The rubber eyepiece comes off but the eyebox is very particular so it’s not much of a difference, worse even. The handguard is a normal Arsenal polymer lower and a B5 systems upper that I painted in Alumahyde to look like the AK from STALKER.

Anyways I mostly figured out why it sits like that by looking at old forum posts. It has a kind of “universal” mount with a little bit of metal that acts as a recoil lug but keeps it far back on the rail. Finnish M62 waffles, Bulgarian waffles, Russian aluminum waffles, paki steel waffles, Chinese flatbacks, nork 20s, Russian and Chinese bakelite, Bosnian single, 2 rib and FDL, Yugo BHO, Hungarian MitM 20s, Steelies from every country, et cetera et cetera.
The list goes on and on.

Every Ivan, Pablo, Mandika, Muhammed, Ping Pong, and Ching Ling were getting TDPs from Daddy Russia for the AKM so no shit there's that much variety in magazine design. Same with ammunition, to the detriment of the US civilian market, as when restrictions/bans started happening, ruh roh Raggy muh cheapo commie caliber price go up!

Most evident of this being 5.45x39 which did NOT have as widespread adoption beyond the remaining Russia aligned countries post 90s/2000s. Almost all of whom had import bans placed on them for continuing to suck Ruskie cock. Naturally, prices have skyrocketed and likely will never recover in 5.45x39s case. Which honestly does very little different from 5.56x45 NATO; the predominant round in Western use. Which America is a part of. For better or worse.

Very few countries that fielded the AKs actually went ahead to develop a rechambered AK-74 for the NATO standard, as most changed over entirely to Western small arms. Poland and Bulgaria being the most notable of them. Yugoslavia never got the actual AK specs as we all know, but instead of making a 5.45x39 rifle, they made the M80/M90 (later turned into the M21).
So no shit there's less 5.56 AK mag variety out there. Less countries fielded or developed a 5.56 AK compared to the traditional 7.62x39 chambering.

Based. Thanks anon. Do you have any idea how much the parts will cost? I believe I also need a go gauge. I have a no go.
I also have a hydraulic press (still need a jack for it though).
>>
>>65589371
That's not the point. You're acting like owning a 5.56 AK is some wildly more expensive and complicated experience than owning a 7.62 or 5.45 one. I buy 5.56 anywhere and share the ammo between my ARs and AKs and it's cheaper than buying Azeri 5.45. The magazines were less than $20 and totally reliable. If you want to scratch your AK itch and not jump through hoops for ammo, 5.56 is the way to go. This wasn't the case 8 -10 years ago when the only decent magazine available was the Circle 10 one for $50 -$60 a piece and 7n6 was still decently cheap. You are parroting outdated info because it is in fact cheaper to shoot a 5.56 now including the magazines and ammo. So shut the fuck up.
>>
>>65589371
instead of being a smart fella, fart smella decided that it'd be a smart idea to suck dick while booing 5.56 AKs instead of starting his own company to make 5.56 AKs a viable option

that's what you get with nogunz newfags

Oh god, oh no, oh fuck.
I spent hours finishing and buffing and re-varnishing the shellac on this handguard and took it out to the range the other day after fitting it to the rifle. A few mags later and this shit's bubbling up.
The hell do I do? Take it off and re-varnish it, or do i use something other than shellac?
>>
>>65583555
Do the 762 WBPs have issues? Do i need to send a parts kit to a builder to get my csgo fix?
>>
>>65590164
burnish it with something not sharp like bone or wood.
then shoot it again and let more stuff come out
just repeat those steps till it stops
>>
>>65590164
there is nothing you can do. The rifle must be dismantled
>>
Is it normal for steel mags to have an easier time rocking in than others?

>low heat resistance
>next to barrel and gas tube
Remove that finish and go with a wipe-on polyurethane, BLO, or tung oil. Minimum three coats, thin the solution if necessary (though most retail products are already pretty well thinned).

Never dealt with shellac but OP but probably used it since it correct for what the russian used it on their wood? Not sure why his didn't work out?

>>
>>65591968
you could use modern nitro lacquer that violin/guitar autists use but its extremely difficult to get and theres loads of EPA bullshit now because its a somewhat toxic finish
i cant remember the exact formulations but it's pretty much impossible to get lacquer with the same percentage of nitrocellulose that the soviets wouldve used unless you have NOS shit from the 70s that hasnt turned to shit somehow

There's 3 different shades of green ones.
They're all Circle 10s though, if that's what you're asking.
>>
>>65592153
oh huh. when i was looking years ago it was hard to find anybody that'd ship to the U.S. that also wasnt outrageously expensive
i may buy some
>>

That turquoise one is so 1950s state medical building tile chic, but they might be a different shade of green without the camera flash or something.
>>
>>65592159
I mean $30+ for an 8oz can isn't exactly cheap. But it does seem fairly available.
I guess if it was being shipped from overseas and its toxic nature how that'd end up with a way higher price tag.
Might be more guitar hobbyists trying to refurb/diy stuff that drew the market a little closer? Who knows.

I think the only thing I hate about the MDC-101 is they made the barrel a 1:7 instead of a 1:9. The AK-101 had a 1:9 and I think most people still just use 55gr anyhow so the 1:7 twist rate isn't as optimal for that round.

So I was lied to about what the soviets used.
Great.
Which of those three options is the glossiest? I have a surplus AKM grip on the other end and my whole idea was wanting to make the two match. I got the color down, but if shellac is the wrong way to get the gloss, i have to start from square one now.

>>65593623
If you want a high gloss, the wipe-on poly. The problem with poly is that since it's essentially plastic, it can end up looking like plastic.
I've used poly on my SAR-1 refinish, and am happy with it. One advantage it has is that so long as you are cool with toxic chemicals, removing it leaves the wood relatively unaffected as it's more of a coating. The oils seep into the wood more before you get to a surface finish, so it's somewhat of a permanent process.
The glossiness of the oil finishes are largely a product of how many coats you apply. All the modern retail oil finishes have polymers in them, so they're not completely different.
What finish to use on gun stocks has been widely debated on other forums and video sites, I'd research more over blindly going with my advice.
>>
>>65595478
Noted. I'll look around and verify it against tung/linseed oil before I go all in.
