What is your favorite old guns you own?

Hmm, difficult choice. What qualifys as old? If I had to choose one, my 1950 Winchester mod 94 was my first gun, got it for Christmas when I was 15. But now that I have a lot more old guns, I'd say my second favorite would be either my garand or my smith mod 41. ONG 870, Rem 241, pre-war PP, and Hi Standard Trophy are all honorable mentions. I really could just list them all, I don't usually keep guns that I don't like.

Old pic is really old

I love my No.4 Mk1 so much. Great sights, butter smooth action, and pretty accurate. If .303 British wasn’t 1.15 a round it’d be pretty much the only gun I would shoot.

Better pic. I cropped that one like the anon in /msg/ said I should and it still won’t send correctly

My 117-years-old "U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, Model of 1903" and my 108-years-old "U.S. Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, Model of 1911".

Damn, that's a tough one.

I'd probably choose my FN Trombone.
Smol, accurate, fun and inexpensive to shoot. Also dat slamfire.
All my buddies at the range were like "a little toy gun, really?", but in the end they all only wanted shoot it.
That said I love all my gats. Except the SVT-40. Fuck you.

>>65545831
Favorite is grandpa's 1911,
Most used is dad's Marlin 30-30, it's a nice hunting rifle

Does anyone really like the SVT? Legitimately I've not found one owner or historical memoir that speaks highly of it

I wouldn't say I hate the SVT-40 but it's a very flawed rifle that's way to finicky for frontline use

I do it sometimes. Not him by the way

My K31 is really nice. I like the compactness of my Type 38 carbine, but the extractor groove in the bolt has wear which is causing feeding issues.

I'd want a pre-1950 M70 or a Model 54 for the stripper clip guide.

Winchester redesigned the Model 70 to a push-feed and economized the design.

Just picked up a Ruger Security Six. Produced around 1973, it’s actually a slimmed down variant that would later be rebranded as the service six. So that’s kind of cool and somewhat rare. Something about old revolvers is just cool.
>>
Got a nice Pattern 1914 Enfield that was dropped over Norway during the war at some point, compared to my Weimar-era K98 its really comfy to shoot as well

Winchester introduced a ton of cost cutting measures on all their guns in '64, not just the m70.

Definitely my early 70s made .22LR Winchester levergun. Adorable gun, and the one I shoot the most.

Stopped hand checkering, went to impressed checkering on all models
Gave the 1894 a shitty sintered receiver, replaced forged parts with stamped parts
Converted the model 70 to push feed, simplified the barrel design
Effectively discontinued the model 12, replaced it with the model 1200 (aluminum receiver p.o.s.)
Disconintued a bunch of their good 22s and replaced them with shitty 22s (except the model 52 but that was basically a loss leader until it was discontinued a decade or so later)

Just purchased my first “old gun.”

It’s a CZ 550 chambered in .375 h&h that I purchased for an Africa hunt in going on next year.

It’s not really “old” since it’s a 2010 production NIB but it’s a design that’s been around pretty much since the 60s from my understanding.

I’m taking it to the range tonight for the first time, but honestly, I’m not impressed so far. It’s a little over $2k for it.

I don’t care for the wood. I would buy a synthetic stock or chassis if there was more than one option. Wood feels so primitive and fragile, like it’s just going to get scratched up, and I feel like I need to bed the action because I’m worried about the wood warping if it gets wet. It uses a stupid proprietary dovetail system for mounting the scopes so I had to buy all new rings when I already have a shit ton of 30mm pic rail rings laying around. It just feels so shitty compared to my 300wm Proof Research rifle.

I wish I had just built a custom rifle off a Defiance Deviant CRF action but I let the dumb ass boomer fuds over on the Africa hunting forum influence me.

I’ll probably go that route if I enjoy my trip to Africa and decide to return.

Plains game this time around. If I enjoy it I might try dangerous game.

>>65552524
It’s a stupid barbaric material for a rifle stock, sure it looks nice but it’s literally inferior in every way to synthetic materials.

>swells when humid or wet
>shrinks when dry
>bedding an action is a requirement for accuracy with a wood stock
>heavier
>weaker
>easily dinged/scratched
>no adjustability

It’s a shit and unsurprisingly the rifle shot like shit today too. No consistency from the CZ, I was lucky to get 2 MOA where as my Proof will shoot sub MOA all day.
>>
>>65553003
2 moa is very good accuracy. Id gladly trade 0.5 moa accuracy (which is massively overkill for the MAX distance of 200 yards youre going to be shooting on a safari anyway) for the sovl of a wood stock

Its my oldest shotgun but has the tightest lockup
I Just need to fix the crack
