I asked about this in another thread, but does anyone have experience with these 4" SA-35s? How do they feel compared to the standard versions? Are they just a meme or is the .7 inch difference really that impactful for carry?

Unknown, maybe 10-15k rounds. I bought it used so unknown before me I should have kept count. Almost entirely Winchester Service Grade which is 115 gr @ 1300 FPS, 440 ft lbs, I think loaded to 39k PSI, so close to +P+.

Only change
>LTT trigger job in a bag
>12 pound hammer spring
>dpm recoil spring thingy. Uhh, when I first got it I thought it helped tame Winchester Service Grade which is +P if not close to +P+.

I bought a second one and got it optic cut but never actually transitioned to having a carry and training gun, I’ve been blasting with my carry gun which is not good practice at this round count. I remember a guy cop/competitive shooter who was doing that and his Glock shit the bed in a comp, a parts failure is inevitable at high round counts. However Langdon tested a full-size PX4 and he went to 50k with only 1 parts failure at 44k and 12 stoppages total. I’ve had no stoppages with my PX4 compact so far that weren’t user induced (short stroking slide when loading, pressing slide release upwards - the low profile levers fix this).

Thank you for appologizing. It's good to take accountability.

>>65548746
The SA-35 like all hi powers is too unreliable to be CCed. If you really love the look of it as a compact then go for it as a range toy, but if your plan is to CC it I would urge you against. I had 4 failures to feed in one mag with the range rental I tried. Yours may be more reliable than that but unfortunately the hi power is not as reliable of a design as your average modern striker fired pistol or even the CZ 75 that followed in it's footsteps. For that reason I'd warn against trusting your life to it.
>>
>>65548735
A t2 in THIS economy?
>>
>>65549157
The T2 gets overly glazed. Comp M5 better
>>
>>65548929
nta but I wouldn't route the cable underneath the handguard like that. Even if it's ziptied you're just asking for trouble.
>>
>>65549160
I'm not glazing it I'm saying it's expensive since the tariffs. Don't even bother looking for a used one I don't care.
>>
>>65549106
Not that anon but the PX4 has big slide release levers, like noticeably larger than pretty much any of its contemporaries and massive compared to the tiny ones on glocks and Glock clones. I personally like it due to how easy it is to release the slide one handed, but it's easy to see how you could accidentally push up on it with your thumb.
>>
What effect would a stiffer recoil spring have if I left everything else the same?
>>
>>65549117

>>
Should you replace the springs on used guns the same way you should change the oil on a used car? Sure, it might be fine for a few weeks, but you should probably just get ahead of it so you know how worn out it is.
>>
>>65549219
Not really, oil change is more like cleaning the gun, springs are more like doing shocks or brakes, they'll let you know if they need to be replaced.
>>
>>65549219
I always replace the recoil spring but that's it.
>>
>>65549211
Could range from nothing at all to FTE city depending on how much stiffer than stock it is and what ammo you're using
>>
>>65549239
It's 2lb heavier than oem, 16 vs 14. Some people seem to be using up to 20lb springs.

>>65549141
I have no personal expirence with the DPP but I do know it is a very old design and therefore things like battery life, durability, emitter tech, and glass clarity will likely be worse than modern designs that use the same footprint. Here is an old write up Burt made with each dot and it's footprint. A lot of the Sig dots use DPP footprint and the more recent ones are good dots including the one they designed for their 365 line. I'd look into one of them before getting a leupOLD red dot.

>>65549219
Not really, most modern guns can go 10k+ rounds on the same springs. Most folks shoot half of that through one gun in a 3 year span.

>>65549211
Changes the way the gun recoils to be either softer or sharper. One is not better than the other, just different. Some folks like a gun to snap back on target quick but if you dial up the recoil spring weight too much you get failures to eject because the slide reciprocates before the round fully ejects. Some folks prefer a softer recoiling gun that is less snappy and doesnt slam around, but if you dial that down too much you get a gun that has failures to eject because the springs aren't stiff enough to reliably eject the brass.

It's all trade offs man.
>>

So currently it recoils very soft. It feels like it takes forever to cycle if I'm just casually slow firing. I'm going to try the 16 out and if it's bad I'll just switch back. The only reason I'm even asking is because the 16 is in stock and the 14 isn't. I don't want to place a second order for one part.

Yes, the most important thing about ballistics is putting holes in vital organs. Flesh wounds don’t kill or incapacitate, only bullets through vital organs do, bullets to the lungs even won’t stop determined attackers for several minutes. FMJ will do that fine as long as you hit vital organs.

JHPs will do more damage to organs, are slightly larger after expansion for a greater chance of hitting organs, and theoretically reduce the chance of hitting bystanders (less over penetration).

The skeleton hammers (Elite II, Match) or the Optimized Power LTT hammer (langdon’s twist on the match hammer) strike the primer faster. Force is v^2*m, so the offset of less mass is countered by the much faster speed so it’s more powerful striking force. Langdon tweaked the center of gravity for his optimized hammer so it should strike harder than the skeletonized elite II hammer.

You need a faster hammer to use the weaker hammer springs. Going below 12 I think is the limit with the stock hammer.

However with a 11 pound hammer spring with the stock solid hammer (92 hammer I think), this was 999/1000 reliable with my Winchester ammo. If I used ammo with a soft primer it would be fine.

>best striker 9mm that isn't a glock?
What do you think makes a gun the best? Do you value a great trigger? The PDP has that angle covered. If you think the PDP recoil is too sharp and snappy (it's basically the same as the VP9) the Echelon is the best if you want a gun that shoots super fast and flat out of the box. If you think the best gun should have the easiest modularity the FN 509c can swap from subcompact to compact to full size with just a 12rd/15rd/17rd mag change, which is a big boon for folks like you who are limited to a small ammount of guns as it's 3 in one. If you think the best is how concealable it is while still shooting incredibly tight fast groups the HK CC9 is your gun, at the cost of it being incredibly ugly. If you think the best is the most reliable striker gun no matter the adverse conditions or lack of cleaning the M&P 2.0 has that cornered far and ahead of glock or any of the others listed.

I've shot em all and my favorite is the FN 509 which also happens to be the cheapest of the listed options including glock, so much so you can upgrade the trigger to a apex trigger and still be at around $500.

How long before the Arex branded pistols get discontinued and removed from stores so you are forced to buy the Steyr brand guns for twice the price? I already can't find magazines beyond the ATd branded ones from their website.

found an SD9VE for 150 and used APEX trigger kit for 30
the APEX is better than the factory trigger but don't expect a huge difference
of course, both my gun and trigger were used so its possible the previous owners fiddled with things
lubed the pistol with motor oil and put 1k through it without a malfunction or cleaning, it was boring though

It used to be the case that waves of the mags entered the country 1-2x a year. I have about 8 of them now so I stopped paying attention to when and if that has continued.

I bought a few from the Steyr website. $45/ea with the +2 aluminum baseplate. Felt like I was getting bent over the table by the Steyr brand.

Threaded barrels with real compensators, silencers, etc. rock.
Threaded barrels with thread protectors are gay.
Threaded barrels with micro comps are just okay.
>snag in a holster during the draw
If you had a holster where you think this is a risk, why wouldn't you just modify it so it has adequate clearance?

>using range ammo does not suddenly cause your rounds to bounce off
Fair, I guess the selling point of "hyper ammo" is its superior construction and case material that affords reliability after months or even years of carrying without replacement.
>better due to higher inertia
Then perhaps the ultimate indictment of .40 S&W is its redundancy to 10x25 which was already niche in the first place. In terms of practicality and tacticality, 9x19 continues to be unrivaled.

>>advertises the cc9 over the vp9cc
Haven't tried the vp9cc yet, I try and stick to reccomending things I've personally shot since then I can have a more informed opinion. For instance, the hogue like rubberized grip of the CC9 goes a long way for the recoil reduction and it's something I don't ever see mentioned when comparing the two.

Don't think I took any pictures of the CC9 when I shot it so heres some dog ass groups I shot with the FN Reflex, a gun I really reccomend against. Trigger is too light with nearly no takeup or tactile wall making it feel like it simply goes off on it's own sometimes. It also had a few malfunctions when I shot it.

Pretty much this. Then again, I only did nancy boy sports (cycling and swimming), but most trannoids have no test to begin with because they are obsessed with idle activities. No tranny or woman should have a gun, imo.

Last time I dated a woman who carried, I found myself staring down a barrel, and every woman I dated from meeting at the range has had shit trigger discipline and a habit of finding and buying the worst guns. Lots of ring of fire and Diamondback shits and in massive quantities instead of less of something better.

What even makes women so attracted to DB9s and DB15s anyway? Every girl I know seems to have one.

I think I’ve covered all of my bases when it comes to pistols. I have 4 I want to keep.
Ruger MKIV
Smith and Wesson 640
Shadow 2 compact
Full size 1911

Other than a meme gun or nostalgic handgun, I can’t think of anything I’m missing.
