I've grown up around people handling guns hunting wise but never seemed to have an interest in them because i was too busy being a pussy and staying inside on my phone, but now ive found myself wanting to learn more about them. Any good jumping off points yall suggest?
>>65551641Go to gun storeBuy what looks coolShoot gun
>>65551641Buy a .22lr, then learn to assemble your first AR. Then buy a handgun.
>>65551641First, determine what you want to use them for. The ideal gun for a skeet shooter is an O/U shotgun. The ideal gun for a hunter is a bolt gun in a commonly found rifle cartridge. The ideal gun for a guy who lives in a bad neighborhood is a small handgun.
>>65551641Buy a 10/22 and git gud, basically. Most gun ranges have at least one class for noobs where they teach you how to not kill yourself or the people around you by accident as well as the basics of shooting. Also, most hunter safety courses go over this in considerable detail on top of the hunting-specific info and have a small practical shooting segment at the end.
>>65551641Determine what you want from your funs, then look into your local laws, availability and prices. If you live in a relatively chill state / country, where collecting stuff is not a problem, you may want to try and grab the holy trinity of a pistol, shotgun and a rifle. If you must start with just one, the good old 12 gauge shotgun is arguably the most practical choice, essentially ban-resistant, and shockingly cheap if you go with something like Maverick 88 / Mossberg 500 pump-action.The trusty .22lr rifle comes close, close second, and might be more fun to plink with. Double so if you can get a suppressor. But before any of that, you want to drill in the four laws of safe gun-handling into your brain.

>>65551641these are all good suggestions. identify what you might use one for and then get a moderately cheap yet quality firearm. get enough ammo and the means of maintenance. don't shoot it until you take it apart and clean it. be sure to get a spare mag or 4, if applicable. don't forget the hearing protection and remember that quality ammo is a quality experience
