OP from the tools thread. I don't feel like being a tripfag, boards are for interests.
This one's for WEAPONS, and this thread is anything to to with making, mangling or consuuuuuuming sweet Harbor Freight porn.

I'm traveling down memory lane and making 2" example blocks of some rifle barrel bedding ideas.
I can remember some resin and fiber mixes. I recall a pillar bedding I think cut from some kind of high temp plastic... it's fuzzy but bedding was the autism focus in like 197 when I got into owning guns. So I want to hands on explore some of that. It may motivate me to buy a gun just to do it- the Ruger American screams "touch me with a dremel".

that'd be 1997.

I got this for slot cars, it's a chassis biulding board but it uses pins in ceramic to custom jig something while you shape or fix it. $10, enormously useful. I used it to measure my bp pistol hammer for a practice drawing.

I need someone who knows watches to point me to a few tools and kits. I assembled one Vostok 200m (not titanium unfortunately) and I'd like to do a few more. BUT the back opening wrench thing sucks dick. It's prone to slip and scratch and it has only two points of grab.

Acraglas would probably be your best bet. As for fiber mixes, chopped woven or chopped strand fiberglass or maybe kevlar probably. Also glass bead. I'll add that for other resin stuff that as one anon puts it, I "shill for" Smooth-on. More shit is made from their materials than you think, though. Those self-healing targets guntubers were getting sponsored by? Yep, literally in a Smooth-On booklet. Those Hulk-styled foam fist can coozies Walmart sells? Smooth-On foam and colorants (surprisingly 100% US made). Blue "rubber" guns? Guess what else is in that booklet? 1911 grips? Yep. And a lot more.

Jesus they DO have a lot of mixes. That's one busy company.

Take a look at this chart for all the materials they make here https://www.smooth-on.com/charts/ or in pdf form here https://www.smooth-on.com/assets/pdf/Technical_Data_Charts.pdf which IIRC they print out at like 15"x25" in store. They also have more info about general use and some examples on each product here https://www.smooth-on.com/products/ and on each individual product's page as well as their YouTube channel. Free shipping over $100 too, and it's probably cheapest through their site at www.smooth-on.com and once you find a material, click "Smooth-On" or "Reynolds Advanced Materials" under "Buy Now". Some craft stores also carry their stuff with a markup but I prefer buying directly to make sure it's in date. They've been around since fucking EIGHTEEN NINETY-FIVE and mix all their stuff in-house as seen in this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDXBc71Dgbs video. Also they do in-person classes. Also check the Reynolds Advanced Materials site (their parent company) as they have other stuff like clay for filling gaps, modifying items, adding pour spouts, or just sculpting shit that's compatible with the silicone you're making molds from and won't inhibit its cure. Multiple hardnesses, too. I don't even use their pricey vacuum pot or pressure pot but as expensive as their materials are, they're very good IME. I'd recommend getting "wine preservative" gas instead of buying their $$$ canned nitrogen to preserve unmixed resin though. Savings are insane.

You've definitely seen their materials used somewhere. Mythbusters and just about any practical FX masks molded from someone's face for use in movies use Body Double to make the mold. Purple is regular, green is Silk which has a built-in release for beards and hair. Their sheer variety and quality is why I "shill" for them.

things go from in-the-white to in-the-brown quite quickly when i leave them on the floor

Great timing op.

Looking for a brass case annealer and I’d like to try a magnetic induction tool. I might drop up to $2K but I’d like to keep it around $500.

Some models make clear they are not for non-ferrous materials. Are they lying or is their some physics im not understanding are different in magnetic induction hearing?

you want a vise you can mount the case in if it's being a cunt and you want a good wrench that won't slip as easily. mount the watch in the case vise, then the case vise in a bench vise, press down on the wrench to keep it seated with one hand while turning with the other.
esslinger.com is a good source for watch and jewelery tools and stuff.
