Why is the USA so addicted to expensive forms of warfare? Will the US ever catch up in the FPV drone race?
is this the same article about how a brigade/division whatever was running a test on how best to apply FPVs and now that the test has finished and conclusions are being drawn that people are saying the US has abandoned FPVs?
>>65552331Omg this again. It's an experimental unit. Unit is doing a big exercise in Europe, with Ukranians, where they will test out all the stuff they are experimenting with. Afterwards, the unit gets drawn down because expirement over. Results will be studied and go into the next phase of testing/experimenting or implementation.
>>65552331>months old hysterical """journalism"""
>>65552331This shill thread from a couple of months back again? What blew up this time?
>>65552334>>65552335>>65552336>>65552337Just read the article you fucking retards
Already did. This was a training unit meant to gain experience developing and using inexpensive drones for future conflicts. You don't need to have dedicated fpv pilots when you have regular drone pilots that do the same thing but with existing technology but different drones. Just develop the new drones
>>65552336I don't think anything blew up. I think that Hegseth is doing squats in a lot of people's heads (rent free) for reasons unknown.
>>65552331Realistically FPVs are our modern multi-turret tank. We're in an evolutionary period and I fully expect the future of drones is mostly autonomous with the "pilot" just confirming targets before the drone strikes it. Image recognition software and cameras are mature enough for an automated detection system to see an armored vehicle at the very least (which is the smartest application for FPVs, using one on a lone soldier is wasteful and only really done because the drone can't RTB). At the very least I expect drones to automatically orbit around it's operator when not being manually piloted
>>65552338link it, retard
>>65552338I have.
>>65552341But did you know that kegsbreath likes ALCOHOL?!
>>65552338The one you didn't link? Also everyone here read it months ago when it was released, that's how we know it's old.
>>65552341The "why is the USA" phrasing is indicative of a thirdie, not some buttblasted hilldawg.
>>65552331Hegseth just announced today that an entire unit/base will be dedicated to Drones and automated warfare. So once again, what blew up today?
>>65552632https://thehill.com/policy/defense/6121765-pete-hegseth-takeaways-command-warfare-base/amp/Is the article in question amongst many others
DRONES ARE FUCKIN' NERD SHIT! >>65463307>Hegseth just ordered the Army's drone unit shut down in favor of DOING PLANKS AND BURPEES WARRIOR CULTURE GET SUM TATS AND TEST RRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH.This post is still cracking me up, goddamn. Golden post.

>>65552341Hegseth is pissing everybody off because hes a fucking idiot who is making the most retarded decision possible whenever the opportubity presents itself. His fucking obsession with a "equipmentless" military? Fucking retarded.Taking that one step further and getting rid of the ACFT and implementing the new HTWT standard that did nothing but make the old tape test even more fucking inaccurate? Holy fucking shit retarded.Ranting about lethality then declaring everybody is going to get juiced on tren? Sure, why the fuck not, you retard. Not like we just got rid of physical training outside of fucking running you fucking retard. Just what we need more of, injuries. We're basically out of stinger missiles because Raytheon does NOT want to make more od the god damn things, we're completely out of our Patriot 3 missiles, we're burning through 2's, heres a eetarded idea, lets keep pretending drones are a passing fucking fad and refuse to do actual training witb drones as a hostile component of how OPFOR conducts ops.Hell, lets waste even MORE fucking money, we'll disband the battalion leading the way on developing organic drone usage because it costs too much money, then triple down on the XM8. We can use the money we got scrapping all that exercise equipment to buy like 20 fucking more rifles after 3ID, 25ID, 82nd, 101st, and that one fucking NG division, all said the XM7 and XM8 suck shit through a straw, AFTER they all took the fucking things to NTC and JRTC.Gee shit for brains, why would anybody be fucking pissed with Kegsbreath. Couldn't be how Iran is fucking going. Couldn't even be all those sailors on the USS Lincoln who rotation for damn near a fucking year without a single port call, who killed themselves? That was just fake news, just ask the Admiral who was sent after shit started to leak. The Navy TOTALLY isnt known for its animosity between Enlisted and Officers.
>>65552863Out of all the military circles I read and take part in, this is the only fuckin place I see "people" defending Kegseth and its fuckin weird. Dude has been an unmitigated disaster with every thing he touches.
...is your hope by now that not only do we forget the article and the previous thread, but all the prior posts in this one? Like, why do you think this still has a chance of working at this point?
>>65552863>Raytheon does NOT want to make more od the god damn thingsDo they hate money or something?
>>65552880There is Stinger replacement program. The Next-Generation Short-Range Interceptor (NGSRI).Planned obsolescence m8.
>>65552343When you are in a period of quick system development you want team who constantly runs this system to constantly get new knowledge and able to implement it, it's non stop process you can't say you "invented everything, shop closed" in a such period.Examples: quadcopter drones started drop bombs, and quickly became ubiquitous part of the battlefield. But for a long time they employed careful tactics of dropping bombs from high altitude outside detection and small arms range. But over time drone pilots realized if enemy infantry doesn't actively looking for them (for example because they all fled open space, fearing drone bombs and hide in a cover ) then they move drones very close to targets and achieve extreme accuracy of drops like rolling grenades into open hatches if the tanks and vent holes if dugouts. You don't get this knowledge theoretically and it wasn't unlocked immediately, if disband your active units you will never progress to such.Next appearing if fiber optic drones. Nobody used them, but then small experiments started, and quickly after entire frontline was covered in fiber spiderweb. Deployment of new gear was instant. Why? Because both sides already run drones, they don't need to develop fiber optic fov quadcopter and train thousands pilots to use them, they already had all these, except they just need to slap fiver optics spools to existing drones. And if you don't have such active units going deployment will take years.Drones warfare evolving and next big thing I think would be hard kill local anti drone systems. So drones would be adapting to this environment to develop tactics and gear to penetrate these systems. But again you need active drone units running to properly test and develop counter drones systems and counters to that. Who would be flying FPV drones to imitate real speeds and maneuvers real experienced OPFOR pilots can pull off during counter drone systems tests? Grunts who can't even hit moving target with a FPV?

>>65552343>using one on a lone soldier is wastefulYou don't understand the value of these as a Psyop.
>>65552343>using one on a lone soldier is wasteful>expending a <$1000 asset on an enemy soldier>wasteful
>>65552863I genuinely think he's going to get assassinated by glowies. Every single person on Capitol Hill except Trump considers him incompetent. Every single enlisted and commissioned member of every branch of the military considers him incompetent. Trump somehow not firing his ass by now (should have been a year ago) makes it look like Hegseth can just continue making horrendous decisions and not get booted. But Trump booting him isn't the only way to get rid of him. Okay buddy, how about some polonium in the water bottle your aide just handed to you? Problem solved.
>>65552334>>65552335>>65552336>>65552341Must be fun to have a fan base so retarded that when you do something retarded because you're incompetent and unqualified, you have a chorus of morons explaining why it's actually 5D chess. Sometimes the government makes mistakes because the people in it are stupid. It doesn't just happen when the government is run by people who aren't from your politicsball team. It's amazing how absolutely pathetic you've all become, you've been psyoped into supporting a forever war by someone who campaigned against them explicitly. Losers.
>>65552863Based and truthpilled. /thread, nothing else needs to be said.
>>65552869It's JIDF. Most of the Trump supporters here are not actually Americans which is why they're tone deaf to what most Americans actually think. The sole motivation is funneling more Americans to die for Israel.
>oh fuck, oh fuck, they're on to us!>quick, deploy the Jew-hating!This woukd be sad if it weren't so vile.
>>65553006Ever heard about bayonet?Free kills.
>>65552343>using one on a lone soldier is wastefulA drone costs $400 and in infantryman costs $80000, so you can in fact send an entire swarm of drones after a lone soldier and still come out ahead.
>>65553102>so you can in fact send an entire swarm of drones after a lone soldierMan, that image is so horrifying. Modern warfare is too real for me.

>OP literally edits out the date so he can make 2+ month old news seem breaking>Even then it's about an experimental unit being disbanded after data-gathering was completedOkay so the whole Hegseth obsession astroturfing here is clearly coming from somewhere but the question is where and, more importantly, why.
