It's invaded by migrants with boat coming every day from Comoros (but also Madagascar, and the african continent, with migrants from the Great Lakes region, more and more from the Horn of Africa, but also further like at some point you had syrians and middle eaters migrants, because being a french island it's an entry point to France and the EU). There's something like 300 000 official inhabitants (mostly "french citizen", half of them having come actually from the comoros since independance) and unofficially actually double the population, close to 600 000, so almost as much illegals, a lot of them really young, than actual legal inhabitants.They're building kind of like favellas everywhere (see OP pic). It's a big strain on infrastructures (schools, hospitals, the maternity hospital is the biggest in the whole of France, probably even Europe, and it's mostly illegals from the comoros, something like 80%, mothers than came to give birth in a modern hospital, but also to benefit from jus soli, and have the baby become citizen, or use fake paternity declaration from french citizn...). So a lot of criminal activity, lots of riot, lots of problems...So i'm guessing the shotguns are for "crowd control", less than lethal...Also don't know exactly when the pic was taken, but 2 (?) years ago the whole island suffered greatly from a cyclone, was pretty much ravaged, so the situation there is worse than ever. Probably why the RAID was sent.
