Hello retards. I have finally come to terms with the fact that I am an autistic weirdo and as part of that process I have realized the thing I actually like most about shooting is not the shooting itself but the process of manipulating the firearm and loading the ammo into the gun. It's like a little puzzle that ends with an explosion which is just the sort of thing I love. To that end I have decided I will buy a single shot rifle since that means I get to do the little puzzle for every shot.

What is the most fun affordable single shot? Rolling blocks seem very cool but they're all in weird calibers. Falling blocks are okay but they tend to be expensive hunting rifles. There are a bunch of cool single shot .22s but rimfire just doesn't do it for me like centerfire does. Any suggestions?

Also general single shot thread I guess.

Hello. Liking single shots is not necessarily autistic, but it is always very based.

Might I recommend you a Henry Single Shot? It has a milled steel receiver (not cast like Thompson/Center or all the poorshit third world imports), it has American walnut, and it has cut checkering (not pressed like poorshit guns) and it has blued steel, and it comes in pretty much any chambering you want, and it's less than $600.

Oh, and although Henry doesn't advertise it as a takedown gun for some reason, it breaks in half and fits in a backpack by just removing the hinge pin.

Here's one I put together a few years ago, with a 16" barrel chop job and suppressor not pictured. Since the hinging block is welded to the barrel, you will have to send it off to a specialized CNC company (I used LongRifles Inc.) to be threaded.

They are simply a joy to shoot and a joy to handload for too, since there's no worry about magazine length or ogive shape causing feeding issues.

single shot rifle is retarded

you get the same amount of reloading action from a tube fed shotgun or lever action rifle or a single action revolver.

dude go do something properly autistic and join the single action shooting society - you must shoot in costume, assume a cowboy alias and stay in character

I know I just called single shot rifles retarded but I kind of want an SBR’d and suppressed one now. But they also make tiny bolt actions now for assassination larp (or cheating handgun hunting rules)
>>
>>65559207
Also, the trigger is excellent and rivals $1300 bolt guns I've had. It's apparently just easier to make a good trigger with a simpler action.

Your option snin rough order of price, ascending are
>Rossi
>CVA
>Traditions
Cimmaron
>Henry
>Pedersoli
>Winchester
>Ruger
Or buy used.

Most cheap and on up into fairly expensive single shots are just break actions. Which is fine if that's all you're after but it's kind of boring.

Currently the cheapest non break actions in a caliber you can actually buy are old bubba'd trapdoors afaik.

Your criteria are contradictory anon. You'll have to emphasize one or another.
>most fun
Martini-Henry, rolling block, and Winchester 1885 in that order. If the rolling block is chambered in 38-55 and loaded with BP, it may slightly edge out the M-H's depending on who you ask.
>but they're all in weird calibers
Never mind.
>affordable
Any number of rimfires.
>but rimfire just doesn't do it for me
And now you see the problem. The cheap ones in common calibers are boring. The fun ones are in weird calibers and are expensive. The rimfires are gay. You'll need to make some decisions here.

I picked up a Ruger No.1 when I had this itch. It's not as well made as you'd think but it's fun.

Knuckle down and get a Springfield Trapdoor replica. Realize that affordable is the path to disappointment. Accept the kinesthetic joy and realize that your big sum of money was well spent every time you reload the autistic action.

All your complaints are dumb

Get a vintage bolt action single shot .22LR rifle

RE: centerfire, no one mentioned the Browning Model 78 falling block
look for the Miroku Japan ones

also Wickliffe Model 76

Pedersoli makes Rolling Block rifles and carbines in .357 Magnum and .45 LC.

Star in Spain used to make a .357 Mag Rolling Block carbine.

My brother in autism, have you tried shooting steel? I, too, love manipulating and loading firearms, and steel targets add one more layer of visual and audio feedback that is just incredible. Alternately, clay shooting gives you the visual feedback of the shattered target, and you are typically only allowed to load one or two rounds at a time.

Good luck and let us know if you find something. I once owned an absolutely garbage rimfire single-shot that soured them for me, but maybe I'll give them another try.

Do they still make themm i see the website listing but I don't see an MSRP.

Hear me out:
>Look into 12-gauge single shot shotguns
12-gauge is a fun round, but you could also get adapters for more affordable rounds and thus turn the shotgun into a rifle. I have a 22lr, 9mm, and even a muzzleloader adapter for my RIA single shot shotgun (that I got in a sale for $108).

Just but a club anschutz OP
There are excellent ones used that go for quite little and they are outstanding rifles.
>>

Model 64 or 54 or 1800 series anshutz and you are done OP. Last you a lifetime. The only interesting rifle is an accurate one.

If you like single shots, and like reloading, then save the extra cash up and get either a contender or better yet an encore (more expensive but more caliber options) with the rifle stock on it…. Then just buy barrels from there…. He’ll you can even get the pistol grips and go down that rabbit hole as well…. The barrels aren’t as cheap as they once were, but neither is everything else, and if your patient good deals on used barrels can be found… and since as far as the government is concerned an encore or contender barrel is just fancy pipe, you can ship it in normal mail without needing an ffl…. I’ve got a pistol grip contender with a .445 supermag barrel, and a wildcat 50 Alaskan mag barrel…. Don’t have rifle stocks yet because I don’t have rifle length barrels. But I’ll get there.

Well in that case I strongly recommend black power. Muzzleloaders are fairly self-explanatory but has a bunch of special tools and procedures compared to smokeless and if you really want to get into the weeds you can increase the complexity by getting into black powder cartridges. You can - and in some cases might be obligated to - make your own power, knap your own flints, nitrate your own paper, cast your own bullets, draw your own cartridge cases, etc. for an insanely DIY shooting experience. It really gives you an appreciation for firearms technology as a whole.

Henry Single Shot or H&R Handi Rifle in .357 Magnum, maybe.
Or just a Henry or Marlin .357 Magnum lever-action rifle, you can single load it.
