Does PSA ever not churn out sweatshop-tier garbage? I like their stuff in theory, but it feels like it's an actual coin flip every time someone buys a firearm from them. I really want them to be good (because of le patriotism or whatever) but it just doesn't seem to be the current reality. It's not just the internet, because I know someone who bought one of their AKs and the stock was loose and wobbling by the end of the first magazine. I've never once seen a new gun with a loose stock in my life, and that sort of issue is completely unacceptable.Ruger is almost equally as bad. It's all so tiresome, and it's no wonder Turkey is apparently able to dominate domestic firearms manufacturing so hard.
>>65559179PSA makes good cheap ARs. Avoid all else.
>>65559179Their gen 3 Glock clones are good.Their AR lowers are good.My psakg3 is cool. I don’t know why you would want a 5.45 gun. 7.62x39 is expensive enough.
>>65559179>and it's no wonder Turkey is apparently able to dominate domestic firearms manufacturing so hard. Are you for real right now, dawg?
>>65559179How come despite countless decades of trying, no american company can put out a decent AK while literal third world pieces of shit can put better ones out? Fuckin egypt made a decent AK of all places, americans cant even make a better AK than egypt? Century has been importing AKs for fuckin years, youd figure there in house AKs would be somewhat decent after so long of trying
>>65559211AKs work similar to Ork technology in 40k. You have to have a bunch of retarded psychics willing it to work. The West does not have this.
>>65559211It took the smartest people in the USSR 15 years to make a good AK, and they built factories the size of a city to make them forever. You can't replicate that casually. The AK is a good gun, but it is not a simple gun.
>>65559209I am happy to opine that turkshit is garbage, but it is at least generally reliable.
>>65559225I reiterate, are you for real right now, dawg?
>>65559222>you cant replicate that casually>unless youre uh serbia(then yugoslavia), egypt, poland, cuba, north korea, still in poverty china, romania, east germany or iraq
Iunno, I like my toy 5.56 AKs from them and they were built decently enough that I can safely mount a 5.56 can on them without a baffle strike and the trunnions and bolts are shitting themselves to death after a while. I'm sure they won't hold up as long as my AKM kit build (barrels aren't even chromed) but maybe I'm just lucky.
>>65559237aren't shitting themselves to death*lmfao swoops
>>65559232He's not wrong, it's unfair to say their pistols or PCCs are bad because of the infamously dogshit shotguns they produce.

>>65559293i should have known
>>65559255>it's unfair to say their pistols or PCCs are badAre you fucking high? The Turks make ONE (1) acceptable gun and that's the Tisas 1911 and I have even seen a suspicious number of those have problems now that the secret is out and they're popular.

>>65559383I honestly don't bother with people like that anymore, we have the internet now and the current situation with Roach arms has been the same as it's been since the late 2010s. It's just willful ignorance at this point and there's no fixing that.
>>65559211The Soviet Union set up massive industrial operations to churn out AKs in pretty much every nation in their sphere of influence. >>65559398>i put 500 rounds through my shitty ""clone"" this year and it's doing great!
>>65559433You do you, just pissing into the wind is all it is.>>65559438More like into the five figures now after 7 years, most of that suppressed. I've gone through a half dozen extractor springs and one actual extractor due to sheer wear. One gripe I have though is the ejector lever the Roach MP5s ship with isn't beveled properly (in fact it's barely beveled at all) and could lead to FTEs, so I had to swap that out eventually for an actual H&K one. It's also gone through two KB incidents, both of which were the fault of Blazer bullet setback.
>>65559179I'm of the mind that a K2 style rifle would be a far better idea than a "AK" but purists gonna purist.
>>65559211IMO the AK is hard to make in the US because our cultural style when it comes to firerams is too different. I'm not saying the AR is inherently a different gun in some esoteric way, or that we can't learn milling or stamping. But the skills of our own culture and industry lead us in a different direction. The western version of the AK isn't in 5.56, the western version of the AK is an M4 rifle. Post '04 AWB sunsetting everyone with basic aluminum skills or 3d printing can make their own lowers and uppers. No one has SERIOUSLY invested the time and money into a dedicated AK factory. Not in the amount it actually requires. And doing so would be cost prohibitive and stupid when again, the AR exists. The tooling alone makes it much harder to do in a decentralized industrial country. If the US government really wanted, yeah we could brute force an AK factory. But even stuff like parts wear, tolerances, and user servicing are so culturally different. An AK can be half the MOA of an AR but last 2x as long with 2x as loose tolerances, but western culture doesn't really support doing that. The SIG550 is goated and is the best AK-like you can get but there's no real benefit to switching to that system. Our standards of what is acceptable QC and a good gun at this point would reject every possible AK until it was on par with an AR. And at that point, why not just get the fully customizable gun that every shop has parts for and everyone knows how to use instead?

I've purchased several firearms from PSA and haven't had problems with any of them that wasn't purely my fault.>blem upper and lower for $450 total 10 years ago was flawless>canik TP9SA so old it has the decocker is flawless>fury2 shotgun has been amazing despite hating slugs >keltec p17 has been flawless>10.5in 300aac with shit brace runs like a champ so far Obviously these aren't the only weapons I own but I've had no problems with any of them and most I've owned for over a decade. People still look at me crazy when they feel the factory trigger on a $300 Canik 9mm. Maybe I've been lucky, it's possible, but that seems unlikely. What's more likely is PSA is just getting the Taurus effect where people choose to hate on them because their pricing isn't conducive to resale. Ask anyone that owns a Taurus G2C and they'll tell you it's the best $200-250 they ever spent on a firearm. Ask any gun store about them and they'll recoil in disgust because they can't make much money on them.
>>65560174nigger the gun in the pic is already a more than $500 gun, are you retarded?
>>65559211It's kind of like 3D printing vs injection molding. You can get started making plastic shit and selling things immediately with a 3D printer and its relatively easy to scale up. Also a lot more agile to things like design changes. Unfortunately the machine time and cost per unit is going to be higher than injection molding and structurally it'll be a little weaker. Meanwhile injection molding makes a better piece of plastic for cheaper but the molds themselves are super fucking expensive and you need to invest in a lot of equipment to be able to do it.American gun companies don't want to make the investment for good stampings and forgings because they think about potential sales and the investment wouldn't pay for itself anytime soon unless they sell things with an extremely high msrp. Much easier to use CNC and castings whenever possible and maybe outsource a few forged parts here and there. PSA also has shit tier QC (how they keep things cheap)
>>65560463Why are you correlating things you bought from PSA with things PSA manufactured?
>>65559234Yugoslavia was the only one on that this who actually “made” AKs. Every single other production line on that list was directly donated by the USSR or, in the case of Iraq, the Serbs. Some of those even had Russians working at the plant training people on how to make the guns. Egypt and China.I think the poles/East Germans/romanians could’ve made AKs from scratch like the Serbs but that’s not really the question. At the end of the day AKs have always been a nation state level project. It’s not a government competency question either it’s a “hey we need to make a few hundred thousand of these for the design to even be viable to produce” thing. That requires government involvement when it comes to communist countries arming their military. We COULD absolutely build AKs in the US but we’d need a few hundred thousand orders to make setting up Ford(tm) Concern factory #1776 to do it.Also>cuban aksKek
>>65560187Why was someone trying to dox him?
>>65560593I still don’t understand how with modern technology we can’t reduce the scale necessary to make a decent AK. We have 3D printers, skilled machinists, CAD, and the internet. The labor and materials should be all that’s needed.
>>65560116He's not an obnoxious try hard like garand dumb.
>>65559211>countries where the gunmakers were conscripts who slept with their riflesvs. >hobbyists trying to stay afloat in line go up American culture
>>65560519I mentioned two guns that were PSA. Does that matter though? Nothing in the OP insinuates it was talking purely about PSA manufactured items.
>>65560649Imagine a thread where OP is talking about how Primary Arms makes shitty optics and your dumb ass comes in and starts posting about the Leupold you bought off their website like it has dick shit to do with Primary Arms. That's what you did here. Nobody would ever blame PSA for your fucking Canik having an issue.
>>65560663Again, the OP does not specifically state firearms manufactured by PSA. It references a coin flip when buying a firearm from them. I've purchased 5, won every flip. It mentions a AK but didn't mention the manufacturer. It also mentions Turkish weapons, Ruger, and patriotism - none of which explain anything either. If you're the OP I recommend putting effort into being coherent and using your words. Really just use your words. Because as it stands, if you're the OP, it's incredibly hard to take you seriously due to how fucked out you come across.
>>65560174>you've never owned a gun that's more than 500 dollarsWhat
>>65560681I'm not OP, I'm just pointing out that you are extremely stupid if you think this thread is about products that PSA sells instead of products PSA makes. Nobody gives a fuck that you bought a Keltec from them, retard.

>>65560640>I still don’t understand how with modern technology we can’t reduce the scale necessary to make a decent AK. We have 3D printers, skilled machinists, CAD, and the internet. That's the crux of the matter. The AK isn't meant to be made with modern technology.A "skilled machinist" wouldn't pull 8 hour shifts making AK trunnions. The entire point of having a skilled machinist is the ability to make difficult parts or very critical components without fucking up because that job alone may be worth 5 or 6 figures to the shop. The machinists who would make AKs were a team of machinists who did most of the work with fixtures and jigs, and most likely a pantograph mill to do the most complex operations. It's the Soviet Union, you can't have a bunch of alcoholics freehand a milling machine. You can't afford to have an army of qualified machinists to do some of the least skilled labor a machinist could do (follow templates).Critical parts like the trunnion have to be forged with a good steel alloy. Casting or 3d printing such parts is asking for trouble. If you want to make an AK with modern technology, it has to let go of outdated technology and labor practices. And it stops being an AK in the process.
>>65559293>Suddenly the government is competentAnon, the "competence" is that no matter how wildly they fucked up, the state was there to ensure the enterprise continued even if a few scapegoats had to be gulaged. This was sustainable for a few decades but eventually it collapsed.
>>65559179All the cliches are present. Bot.
>>65559293So many people underestimate how much fucking time, effort and machinery was involved in making it so AKs could be reliably and cheaply churned out. By its very design it is not a cheap or easy firearm to set up manufacturing for.
>>65559211This depends on if you count the stenzel as a real ak.>Too expensive If you want a decent inexpensive american ak you may have to wait a while.
