do strikes with the bony part of the wrist do damage or is it just karateslop?
>does hitting people hurt themyep>is martial arts mostly bullshit to make you pay for more dance lessons Also yep
>>65562792Generally those strikes are using the little finger metacarpal bone, which is relatively strong but you're not going to be transferring a lot of energy to the strike unless you're really winding up from the shoulder and triceps muscles. In which case the opponent might do their best not to eat shit. You don't want to expose your wrist bones to strikes, all the little carpal bones, tendons and ligaments holding them together are relatively delicate so it'll cause strains, breaks and other painful shit with enough lateral force.
All strikes in melee combat are about introducing a hard part of your body to a softer part of your opponent's body.Punches aim for the jaw, which has some slack. Headbutts aim for the nose, which cushions the impact. Kicks can be an exception because shoes will absorb the impact.
>>65562844>Kicks can be an exception because shoes will absorb the impact.nigger if I cunt-punt you like you deserve, my pair of shoes isn't going to magically save your nuts from annihilation
>>65562847One look at your clown monkey shoes would be enough to annihilate anyone's sides from laughter I'm sure!
From my very limited understanding, those are mostly used for parries and such, not for strikes actually meant to do real damage
>>65562792I'm not sure why you posted this in /k/ rather than /xs/ (extreme sports board has all the martial artists) but I made a helpful pic for you. All punches involve using one's metacarpals to strike the opponent, as they are the toughest bones in your hand. If you hit someone with the carpals or phalanges, you'll break your hand.
>breaks wrist giving assailant a minor owie If you're gonna use a weird part of your body use your elbow
>>65562792>do strikes with the bony part of the wrist do damage
>>65562792>strikes with the bony part of the wristUse a knife hand, not your wrist. Ulna/radial bones are more susceptible to injury at the wrist since they don't have the muscular support at that point.Knifehands can be used much more effectively without the same risk of injury.
Watching Get Smart as a kid I thought the knifehand was a joke, but finally learned how valuable it is when used properly.
>>65563822>thought the knifehand was a jokeSo do a lot of people. It's not. Neither are palm strikes.
>>65563724t. fairbairn
>>65565090I used to train combatives to the boys as a squad leader in the army, and I'd take the assholes of the squad and use them as the training dummy. They learned real quick how effective shit like the knife hand strike can be when applied to the right spots.Fairbairn was right about a lot of shit.
>>65562792>do strikes with the bony part of the wrist do damage or is it just karateslop? If its like pic related no.You can dazze him a little if you hit artery/nerve on the neck with hit but it's more something that will help you take advantage and follow to grab him/hit him harder where it hurt. For a direct stab attack it will be for deviate the attacking arm max from gutting you but only if you hit hard. If the attacker grip is shit he can eventually drop it, but honestly I wouldn't count on it.
>>65562792Damage no. Pain yes.
>>65565090All in fighting holds up
