Simple solution for you:Plain-jane Beretta 92FS or M9 (depending on preferred rollmark)GG-92 compensator (multiple lengths to choose from, does not require threaded barrel)Train with your irons to get a feel for the pistol, take your time choosing an optic if you want to go that route, then pick one and get the slide milled for it. The optics-ready 92s look like shit, just get a classic one. You can get a 92 milled for an optic, but you can't make an ugly optic-ready 92 pretty.

When should I buy a safe form y guns if I live in an apartment?
I've owned and shot hundreds of different handguns from a j22 to a deagle. As much as I hate it, my p80 g19 is my workhorse. Comfy to carry, comfy to shoot, I beat it like a red-headed stepchild and everything about it is cheap and easy to replace/repair/feed. I feel the same way about ar15s. As contrarian as I want to be, I tell everyone to just get a g19 for their first pistol.
