Thoughts on cheap lights? I might throw it on my Glock+chassis backpack fun and may pop a raccoon browsing the trash at night occasionally and LARP in the woods with it while camping. Also, thoughts on rechargeable lights? Or batteries I can replace while camping? I do have solar powered battery bank but it takes a while to charge stuff and don’t want to leave gun at camp.
>>
>>65563690
you are throwing your money away
thats it
now should weaponlights cost hundreds? no not really
however when you buy a cheap pos it will break its just a matter of when and it will have zero holster compatibility with anything.
if you wanna be poor just have a normal flashlight on you. its more useful anyways.
>>
>>65563697
I agree pistol+flashlight is a great combo, but i am asking in context of weapon mounted light on a braced pistol. I figured cheap anything gun related will break but the high reviews made me wonder. I may try holding a flashlight with the braced pistol.
>>
>>65563690
Streamlight pistol lights are legitimately fine, as are their rifle lights. Surefires shouldn't cost $300+ but they are the gold standard for a reason. If you're getting filtered by streamlight prices it's time to rethink some things.
>>
>>65563708
>the high reviews made me wonder
they lied
amazon reviews mean nothing
>>
>>65563708
>the high reviews made me wonder
Poverty tier gun reviews are 99%, "I havent used it yet but it seems great! Five stars" and 1% "i have put 500 or more rounds through it and it hasn't broken yet". I wouldn't take them at face value
>>
>>65563718
>>65563720
I’ve seen blatant examples of AI fake reviews that all followed the same formula when I was looking at e-bikes

this should be the bare minimum for entry. anything cheaper than this and you're tossing money in the trash.
>>
>>65563727

love these things
>>
>>65563690
if you get the light out of the box, smack it with a hammer a few times, fire the gun, and it doesn't flicker off or do anything weird, it's probably fine even if it's cheap. amazon will take it as a return even if you beat the shit out of it if you lie to them. flashlights aren't some magical unsolved tech, just be prepared that you might be buying junk that falls apart immediately. look for something with metal construction if you can.

>braced pistol
Just get Streamlight or Inforce. Buy used on eBay if you want to pinch pennies. Holosun too.
>>
>>65563759
not them, but yes
>>
>>65563690
>>65563708
No, you need to spend $50+ minimum. Normal cheapie flashlights will not last long due to the heat and motion associated with firing the weapon. Weapon lights are designed to be reinforced against these, and that reinforcement is what makes them more expensive.
>t. learned this the hard way after buying cheapie Amazon weapon lights when I was a broke college student
>>
>>65563690
I get chink knockoff streamlights and haven't had a problem. Even my knockoff rmr still holds zero. I also abuse my guns so it's not like they're being babied. I'm pretty convinced that since everything is outsourced to china these are parts coming out of the same factory
>>
>>65563727
Yeah this is the absolute basement floor level of what can be considered a workable WML, literally anything a tiny bit less is basically airsoft bait.
>>65563712
I was made a believer in SF after my brother's lived right next to the muzzle of a 10.5" AR getting the absolute shit blasted out of it for years, getting caled with carbon, but still working without a hitch throughout.
>>
>>65563980
>yeah I basically have premium products they just have a diff logo, trust
what level of povertyfag cope is this
>>
>>65563690
You don't need my permission to be a fool, go off fren
>>
>>65563690
I wouldn't put anything cheaper than Olight or Sig on a nightstand gun.
Streamlight for carry. Fuck surefire.
>>
>>65563718
They do if you actually start going through them and breaking down percentages and numbers.
>>
>>65563690
>$13 weapon light
maybe for airshit but i wouldnt trust it to not die under actual recoil
>>
>>65564037
The mark of quality of them to me is Streamlight suing Harbor Fright. They wouldn't have bothered with the suit if they didn't view them as a threat.
>>
>>65564038
No, logo is the same too. When I first bought chinkshit it was cheap enough that I didn't care if it didn't work. Everything still works so why the fuck should I pay a premium for a benefit I'll probably never realize.
>>
I got the olight baldr which is like 130. Reddit hates it. It lights up. The laser holds fine, I've shot 300 rounds with it. I'm not like some tactical cop guy, don't think it's intelligent to spend $300 on a pistol light. If it quits working I will unclip it and remove it but I'm happy with it.

OP here. I did in fact buy this today for my braced pistol. Once I get my sparc2 in the mail I can take it to the range.
>>
>>65564038
He's right though. The actual components are often the same the only difference is the quality control, the housings, logos, packaging, extra functions and warranty.
>>
>>65563744
K.I.S.S.
Beats out all the high speed low drag BS
>>
>>65564575
I had to move the light up one notch so I could fold the brace. Once I save up some money I’m putting a cheap can on it too. A budget camp gun.
>>
>>65563690
WML's are a solved product. Literally any price point will work. I've had free temu lights that went over 2500 some rounds of 124gr +p before I sold it off for holster compatibility. WML's are solved genuinely but faggots holding the streamlight and surefire bag are left bitching with sour grapes
>>
>TFW YOU GOT A MALKOFF COMING IN
FEELS GOOD, MAN.
>>
>>65564624
put your temu trash next to a muzzle brake and rip off a mag, post the results
>>
>>65564624
> faggots holding the streamlight and surefire bag are left bitching with sour grapes
Anon my light cost all of $150 and I know it's going to survive whatever abuse I send its way and then some, why the fuck is that going to make me jealous of a shittier product with a price difference that's less than the overtime I accumulate every week?
>>
>>65564652
do you keep your lights next to your muzzle brake?
>>
>>65564664

It's really not a big deal (if your light is designed to take it).
>>
Whatever you do don't buy olight, feyachi, or any other amazon mystery bin garbage. The bare minimum is that harbor freight TLR1 knockoff, I don't personally have one but I've heard pretty good things about them online. A good weapon light will probably be around $100, you can get a used TLR1 if you look hard enough or an inforce or something.

Remember why you're actually getting a light, PID is a myth and you should just shoot at noises
>>
>>65563712
Streamlight is fine.

>>65564180
>>65564505
Olight almost got me killed. Never again, not even for free. Actually I'd consider one for free if it was for a range toy, and I had something else in case it decided not to work on range day. On a gun that has even the smallest chance of winding up in a "serious" use case? Absolutely not, because if you find yourself needing a WML and it doesn't work, you're basically fucked.
>>
>>65563727
Love mine
>>
>>65564575
you did good, op. they're fantastic lights for the money.
>>
>>65563690
I got a p07 shortly after it debuted and it came with a cheap light. It's not the best light but it's certainly functional and takes the standard lithium batteries other lights use.
>>
>>65563690
I wouldn't get anything with a plastic housing, and I'm assuming that thing is made of plastic.
>>
>>65563690
When spending money you should consider the following:
Does the item go between you and the ground?
Are you likely to depend on the item for your safety/could it harm you if it fails?
Beds, shoes, boots and chairs are worth paying at the higher end of what is reasonable for. You'll spend less in the long run and your joints and back will last longer.
If you're a proper working man and you crawl around on the ground, good quality clothes are also important and can usually be repaired.
If you might potentially depend on something for your life, you should buy the best one you can. Ideally buy one and beat it to fuck in training so you know its limits, and then buy another one.
When your $14 Gmconn light fails at a critical moment, you will deserve whatever the consequences are. (Probably nothing lol, but maybe something. Hope it was worth it.)
>>
>>65564699
common placement for people who aren't well thought out or considerate, perhaps.
It's all downside and no upside.
>>
>>65565581
the nuts and bolts are probably rejected pot metal that is more fragile than plastic
>>
>>65564935

Picked up one myself it’s not to bad. For less than 50$ it’s a go to choice for cheaper lights I will probably put it on my rock island MAPP

have you ever put a wml on a rifle anon

do you know what happens the further you put it back
>>
>>65563690
There's always one that's gonna be like "oh well people THINK you can cheap out here but..." no you totally can. It's a fucking light, you're throwing lead not lumens. Get NODs.
>>

Can you post your NODs?

Im not really concerned by a bunch of tards offering their tard buddy the advice of a $200 flashlight. Im having trouble finding a reason on why this effects me at all.
>>
>>65564661
because $150 for a flashlight is retardedly expensive if you turn off the part of your brain that tells you "that's just what wmls cost"
it's not that hard to pot an led, battery and on off switch so it doesn't break itself when jolted
>>
>>65568104
Or, and hear me out, I just drop that cash for something I know is going to hold up to what I'm going to put it through?

You're not exactly offering up any specific alternatives for a light with equal output as an M600 that will hold up to being brake blasted and has the QC backing.
>>
>>65563690
unironically one of the best lights i own.

ahh, the classic

>>
>>65568391
streamlights are great, and I would gladly pay the $45 they are actually worth for them
>>
>>65568453
Are those going to hold up to being next to my SBR's brake and have the same output? I shoot a lot during my range sessions, I don't want anything coming loose.
>>
>>65568417
I might pop a grand total of 12 coons off the trash can or compost bin for the life of the gun. I don’t really want to drop more than $50 on a light.
>>
>>65568540
that's fine, just making fun of the copers in here swearing no one would have any use for a more pricey light and/or that every light is just like another
>>
>>65563727
I bought one of those for my g19, no issues with it after 600-700 rounds put through my Glock since then. Hasn't come loose or ever failed to turn on.

Because I caught a range ban on Monday, and also because I can't adequately take a picture of the location with the correct level of darkness at this time of year unless I do it after midnight, which I'm not going to do. So when looking at picrel, imagine that the car isn't there, the garage door is shut, the sunchokes aren't there, and it's way darker.
>be me, hear something metallic get knocked over in carport
>probably fucking tweakers again, grab five seven and head out side door
>round corner of house, see view of picrel
>can just about make out someone crouching by the trash cans
>flip light on
>nothing
>flip it back and forth a few times
>nothing
>realize i'm backlit by neighbor's porch and can't see shit
>say out loud, "this is your lucky day motherfucker, the light on my gun isn't working"
>"i'm going back inside to get a flashlight that works, don't be here when i come back"
>back around corner, re-enter house, hear tremendous crash as the stupid motherfucker broke my fence trying to hop over it
>he wasn't there when i got back
>fixed the fence the next day
Had this individual been armed and ready to fight, he would have gotten a shot or two off at me before I'd have known what was going on. The Olight went in the trash where it belonged.
>>
>>65563690
So long as it's metal and not case aluminium it should be fine.
Just read reviews and check youtube for a durability test.
