How does 7.62x54r compare to .30-06, and both of those to 7mm mauser and all of those to 6.5 swede? Are full powered rifles a waste of time beyond fun? Im a big fan of 6.5 for rifles and .312 for handguns
>>65566890>How does 7.62x54r compare to .30-06,weaker, nowhere near as many options for bullets in terms of weights and constructions, outdated>7mm mauseridk>6.5 swedeidk
>>65566890they all throw a bullet that is about the same size and weight at about the same velocity. .30-06 is a few 100 fps faster than the rest at 2,900fps. Measurable differences between all of them exist, but are just not of any practical significance. This thread will be full of spergs who argue otherwise.
>>65566890>7.62x54r compare to .30-06Ever so slightly weaker, The difference is very negligible though.>7mm mauserI do not know.>6.5 swedeStandard load 6.5 Swede is extremely similar to 6.5 Creedmoor, so the 7.62x54mm R should hit a bit harder while the 6.5s shoot flatter. The caveat is that many 6.5 Swede fans are using reinforced rifles and shooting loads much stronger than the standard load so I don't know how 7.62 Russian compares to those handloads.>Are full powered rifles a waste of time beyond fun?No, they are great hunting cartridges; the problem is that back then many hunters wanted a rifle that could do many tasks. Nowadays, gun enthusiasts prefer getting many rifles, each with a specific task.>>65566920>Measurable differences between all of them exist, but are just not of any practical significance. This, basically.
30-06 is 7.62x63.308 is 7.62x51.308 is the natural comparison
All will kill a man or a deer
>>65567365What about a man-deer?
>>65567369No one has succeeded. $50,000 reward for its head.
>>65567369Don't we call em "Not Deer"? They're deer but they're not deer, if you know what I'm saying
>>655668907.62x51mm and 7.62x54mmR both have almost same firepower but .30-06 is stronger than both of them
