>hellion>waffle AUG>wlvrnBetween strictly these 3 and no others, which should i get? On paper i like the WLVRN but ive read a few horror stories where the other 2 i only hear positive things. Im not concerned with stanag compatability because im not invested in a platform already
the hellion is the cheapest so its what you should get.
>>65569147get the AUG. it is a fully mature system with decades of service, while the VHS-2 has less than two. unless you are wrong-handed, that is. in that case, get the VHS
I like my waffle AUG in .300 but only got it cause it was cheap. Why are you wanting one specifically instead of NATO? NATO stocks now have the bolt release
Dang 0 votes for Wulvereen.
>>65569186Because its kino, nigga. Green with waffle mags is what i would get
>>65569147Does anyone have a FRT for the AUG yet?
>>65569186How cheap is cheap?

>>65569147The Hellion is neat, I have the 20" barrel. On the "suppressor" gas setting it just tosses the cases into a pile a few feet away. The safety is fine and the trigger is fine. If you're not a manlet the LOP is fine. Disassembly is simple, very much like a SL8/G36. The top rail interfaces with the receiver through a small dowel of bakelite or hardwood or something which isn't ideal and I haven't had superb accuracy through an ACOG but I have exclusively used cheap 55 grain so there are potentially many factors at work. It's quite heavy and bulky. Springfield will NOT sell parts of any kind so if something breaks you have to either send it in or try to personally import parts from Slavgary or wherever these are made. There is no manual bolt catch, you have to either insert an unloaded mag or reach into the empty magwell with your finger and push up on the tab.The AUG is a classic. I have the 20" barrel "40th anniversary" one which lacks some modern features. The 1.5x scope sucks, don't get one. Waffle mags are fine but a little wider than NATO mags so they don't fit in larperator kit as easily. The rifle would probably operate on a "suppressed" setting but it doesn't ship with a suppressor gas plug. Gas plugs are the "vent" type so "suppressor" means more gas venting. KNS sells a tunable plug that reduces the inflow of gas. Gas plugs are per-barrel not per-rifle so if you want to take advantage of the quick-change barrel and use non-standard gas plugs you would need more. The LOP is fine and the trigger is okay. Mine doesn't have a bolt catch/release but normal new ones do.Make sure you get the one with the flat rail all the way forward (M2).Steyr USA sells parts, you have to call because they won't answer emails and they have lots of parts that aren't in the catalog. If I could only own one I would pick the AUG but I would go forward in time from when I bought mine back in ~2016 so I could buy the new M2 model which is on the market now.
