Must have been weird as shit to find a modern enemy rifle in the 70s. Like if Im curious about what the chinks or iranians are playing with, I can just google it and there will be some niche blog talking about it or even translated first hand videos showcasing it. Even during the cold war, you had enthusiasts magazines in the west like SOF who went to Afghanistan just to do articles on the krink. I dont think the soviets had any equivalent, so if you were a soviet advisor in africa who stumbled upon an M16; its would just be like; "what the fuck is this thing".

I think it's neat that all guns are pretty much the same so a retarded slav conscript could pick up some totally foreign unknown technology weapon and make it work with only a few minutes practice.
