A couple of my buddies are into special forces stuff and they are not what you think. Instead of being hardcore muscle man roided out type of guys they are actually very smart, kind of meekish moderately wealthy guys who can afford nice gear and the free time to use it.What other special forces misconceptions do you have?
>>65580885>they're just accountants with gunsWe all already knew this.t. been watching Vinning get posted for 18 years now
>>65580904well also you have people like that shrek guy I can't remember his actual name he goes on podcasts and talks shit but then you start to realize those egotistical guys are not the norm they are the exception
>>65580885>hardcore muscle man roided out type of guysYeah that has been a meme here for awhile because there are some surprisingly lean figures in the military. This guy was a Night Stalkers battalion commander, which were the same people who grabbed Maduro (later). They are fit as fuck though. There are big solid guys too.>kind of meekish Yeah. Or not very emotional, more kind of robotic. Idk it's just military. Soldiers have their own professional language and style of intonation. There's a downward inflection in the voice. It's like the opposite of "upspeak," like how people make sentences sound like a question, which sounds girlish. Military people have a downward inflection. It also sounds kind of clipped. The military is all about following orders and so what you're saying sounds authoritative and firm. These are all military guys:https://youtu.be/z8PqRmrtCCY
>>65580885Depends on who they are and what they do. Special forces aren't a monolith.
>>65580885The ones who you see being interviewed are pieces of shit who do not live the SOF ethos of the quiet professional.
>>65580885SEALs are generally roided out retards and have been since 04ish
>>65580885>Instead of being hardcore muscle man roided out type of guysThat kinda does describe the Navy Seals. Also, Navy Seals are often not smart.>>65580904Just to clarify, Vining actually did shit in the field, he wasn't just working at some desk.
>>65581173I think that anon was referring to the pic where some SF guy was operating in his office wear.
>>65581180There's also this famous picture of him, where he has the face of an accountant and the decorations of a guy who has seen it all and killed a lot of people in the process.
"special forces" does not actually mean anything. There are very different roles in special forces like hostage rescue teams, electronic warfare and SIGINT, deep infiltration and covert operations and so on. Those require very different skillsets and are not interchangeable.
>>65581239special forces is actually a well defined term, it specifically refers to a military unit designated to undertake special operations.
>>65581249>special forces mean forces that do special thingsThanks for the explanation anon
>>65580885Who cares what your larping faggot friends are into? What does that have to do with special forces?
>>65580885When you say they're "into special forces stuff", do you mean they're actual special forces or that they like to dress up as special forces when they play airsoft?
>>65580885>into special forces stuffWhat does this mean?I know a guy that was in the SAS and he's a runner with a runners build despite being on the M60 in his day.To this day he runs 5km on sand every morning, he's 58.
>>65581262you're welcome :D
>>65580885Posting a classic
>>65581334Nice.
>>65580981Unless they're in the zone
>>65581249In English, doc!
There are plenty of roided out operators. Lots of roided out regular military too.>they're smartThey have to be. That's the job description. There are dumb military jobs and smart ones. You can't be dumb in a smart job for very long.
>>65581396Prove it
>>65580978>Night StalkersThey just fly helicopters for Delta, though. They're pilots, not soldiers.
>>65581312>runs 5km on sandSounds easy.
>>65580904>A couple of my buddies are into special forces stuff So theyre just larpers? What do they have to do with actual SF people then
/k/ looking down on larperators, sad
>>65580885>>What other special forces misconceptions do you have?I was in my mid 20s when I finally figured out the difference between special operations forces and Army Special Forces (Green Berets/18-series), so probably many. Actually I'm still not sure if Delta Force counts as special forces. It's in the acronym, but you can get in without going through 18-series selection so ????
>>65581334VDV aged surprisingly well.
>>65581334>Sayeret>go home because hostage isn't Jewish
>>65581059this. Socom the video game ruined navy seals. instead of being elite like mavsog, they're roided out fagzog
>>65581582>They're pilots, not soldiers.Sure. Well technically in U.S. military speak they're all "soldiers" on account of serving in the U.S. Army. Soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines, as they say. I wasn't in the military but had a job that took me around bases and seeing military exercises taking place and soldiers pretending to do war stuff, and you run into more lean infantry guys than you think going in because they do a lot of cardio and have very little body fat. I'm a tall skinny guy and I'd see some soldier and I'm like damn he's as skinny as me and shorter. But going out with the Marines was different because some of those were big and looked at me like they wanted to kill me.
Remember in 2 Weeks in Hell where an instructor told the candidate to put him vomit in his pocket? Those instructors got in trouble for it lol. Brett Tucker mentions it in this interview.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wf7ab-ar6vg
>>65580885>Special Forces misconceptionsThe first is that there are Special Forces that aren't green Berets
>>65581334Where are the Combat Controllers and PJs? The two best operators in the world.
>>65583170Someone will make an updated one next time muzzies take a cartoonist hostage
>>65582935>technically in U.S. military speakYou may as well be quoting the Talmud here anon. In English, which is an actual language, they're pilots. Similarly, marines are not sailors and never have been.
